One Time Player (The Player Series Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 936 ratings

I could have any woman I want…

Except Patty Sanders.

She is off-limits, not only because she is my hockey team’s new assistant physical therapist. She is also the coach’s daughter.

Getting in between the sheets with her, could cost me my career on the ice.

So, I’ll settle for being in the friend zone, if it means I get to be around her. But the more time we spend together, the more the lines we’ve drawn begin to blur.

Especially when Patty asks me to be her date to her cousin’s wedding. One minute we’re dancing and the next she’s in my arms asking me for one night.

One night before everything goes back to normal— like it never happened. But for me there is no going back.

Can I convince Patty I’m more than just a one time player?

This is a full length sports romance. Get ready for some laughs and serious hotness. This is a friends to lovers, coach's daughter sports romance with no cheating and an HEA.

Slowly burning, emotional and Sweet, One Time Player is a lovely read.
With great characters and an engaging plot, the slow build of Patty and Evan's relationship was just heartwarming to behold. With their friendship beautifully blooming into what felt like an almost inevitable romance, the growth, acceptance and strength in this slow burn are just right. 4.5 stars and a salted caramel cupcake

I'm tickled pink because RC Stephens has brought back all of my favorite things about her writing in this book. I first "found" RC when I read her Westfall U series, and books 1 and 2 were my downfall for her, her writing, and her stories. I then read Flynn and Myles' story, as well as Flynn's brother Oli's story, which were a totally different location, story and feel from Westfall. I mention that because here in this new series, she has those two series collide! I read book 1 in this series a couple months back and I really enjoyed it, but here in book 2, Patty is the FMC and her parents are Flynn and Myles, while Evan went to Westfall with Rebel and Wolfe (the main characters from book 1 of the Westfall U series), sooooo you see, there's so much crossover happening here and I love it.

    Now, that all said...

I love Evan. I love him so much. He's such a sweetheart and so genuine. He's the thing that book boyfriends are made of. And then Patty is the entire package. We got to know her quite a bit in Skylar's book (book 1) and how their story was intertwined, and how selfless Patty is as well as giving and just a really amazing person. So we already loved Patty from book 1. So to understand why she won't let love into her life beyond what we already know -when we learn why- ugh it breaks your heart. You just want to go to bat for Patty. And here's Evan, just all sweet and swoon worthy. Ugh, it's just a whole thing.

Their story starts with attraction but is really about friendship, and I really love it. But their chemistry is envious. It's so delicious. And then the trajectory of their friendship and consequent relationship... mmm so good. I hate giving away spoilers, and I often don't even read the tropes of a book before reading the book because I want to experience the surprise plot twists, so if you can, I recommend NOT reading the tropes here. I didn't and I loved the surprises. Of course we know that Patty is Evan's coach's daughter - not a biggy on that one. And we know that this is a forbidden workplace romance, she works for his team, which fiiiiine. That's fine. Not my favorite trope but the characters seem to be more realistic about this than most other books I've read where we have this scenario. But that's it: that's all I'm saying, because letting the other tropes come to the forefront is so satisfying.

Halfway through this book I was all up in my RC Stephens feels - I felt like she'd brought me back to all of the reasons why I first fell in love with her writing, all the way back to books 1 and 2 of Westfall. And by the end of this book... well, first off, this book ended way too soon. I would definitely have enjoyed more pages! Let me just say that - seeing Evan at the end... omg. Just omg. ... Anyway, I digress, I was saying... oh yes, she brought me back to all my favorite things and by the end of this book I was so enthralled in the story that I didn't want it to end. Love it!

One Time Player is a fantastic read. I loved this one so much. If you love friends to more, coaches daughter, off limits, hockey romance you are just going to love this one. I love Evan and Patty so much. I could not get enough of these two. Evan and Patty have this amazing build from friendship to more. Evan is a sweetheart. Patty holds a lot close to her heart and is an expert of building walls around it. I love how Evan breaks down Patty's walls even when they know they should not get close. I fell hard for Evan and Patty. I love the Player series so much. You need to one click this now.

If you have not read R.C. Stephen’s books, do yourself a favor, and read them. I have yet to read one of her books that isn’t compelling, romantic, angst; with great character development in each & every book.

This book did not disappoint, I could not put in down. The slow burn between Patty & Evan was off the charts. Not without issues, these two were combustible. Just because there is chemistry does mean it’s easy.

This started off so good. The build up, slow burn, friends to lovers was really great but then sadly when the action started it seemed rushed and incomplete. Days skipping and even weeks skipping is no biggie but all the sudden we start skipping months in their story.

So far I'm loving this series however. If you are on a roll with Hockey and babies/single parents like I find myself then I highly suggest this series.

I thoroughly enjoyed the book and read it in one sitting. I loved Evan. He was so kind, thoughtful, and he honestly fell hard for Patty. Each one had their emotional baggage but somehow found their way through it to a loving and committed relationship with each other.

This book was written beautifully. I love these characters and it so fun to see them in each other’s stories.
