Great read
I love a good football romance, this is a romance between a player and the coaches daughter. This is a small town friends to lovers forced proximity. The story involved a secret the players keeps couldn’t wait to see what that was. The story follows the relationship between Sloane and Cam which is so interesting. Having a thing for one another for a whole year they can’t cross the line. A jump in time they are in close proximity and neither can keep away. This is great I love a slow burn. In real life I dislike football in romance books I am a huge fan of it.

    This is such a good story. Sloan and Cam are literally goals. The fact that she had a huge croissant crush on him and he ended up coming back into her life when she was super low and he was super low was just so cute. I felt really bad and felt a lot of emotions with all the guilt and shame that Cam felt in this story. And I also wanted to smack Sloan across the face when she assume the worst of camp. But that’s what makes a good story is it makes the reader feel all the feelings. And I did. Definitely recommend. And the spice was spicy.

    I loved the mutual pining/crushes in the second Chance romance between former best friends Sloane and Cam. Sloane always had a crush on her best friend in high school who happened to play for her father, the town’s well-known high school football coach. After they graduate, Cam focuses on his dream of playing pro football and Sloane creates her own life out of their small town in Georgia. 13 years after high school, Sloane is back in Thunder Creek to start a new chapter after her engagement ends. She also ends up sending the most embarrassing email to Cam. Who shows up the next day at her house seeking her dad’s help getting his career back on track. I really enjoyed Sloane and Cam’s journey back to their former closeness with the new element of both finally confessing their former feelings and giving it a real shot.

    I’ve read many sports romance books over the years. I love them so much. Especially Coach’s daughter or siblings teammate. But this one was unfortunately average.
    I hate to say that, but it really fell flat for me.
    It was fine as a whole story. There was good tension. I loved our FMCs father and the small town vibes. Other than that, I was lost.
    Our MCs are 30, which I loved because you don’t get many over the age of 25 anymore; however, unless you told me explicitly their ages, I would have thought fresh out of high school with the way they were talking/acting. That pulled me out of the story a few times.
    And then the big “secret” seemed out of character. Miscommunication is such as easy trope to mess up and that’s what happened it. It felt forced.

    If you want a quick fluffy sports romance, ex best friend, second chance, coachs daughter, give it a shot. There’s promise here with this author, I will say. So I look forward to seeing what else she releases.

    What a great quick read. I loved Sloan and Cam, and that they had this life long attraction to each other. I liked that there was a mean girl in the story, hasn’t every girl had one of those in their life at least once. Thank god we get past them. The sex scenes were awesome, intense, loving, and hot!!! I definitely recommend this book.

    This was my first time reading Kara Kendrick and I absolutely loved it!

    We have sports romance meets friend to lovers meets coaches daughter meets forced proximity meets small town meets secret romance meets first love. 😮‍💨 exactly

    This was a really sweet, fast paced read. Definitely a good break from my usual dark romance reads.

    Cam and Sloane. Best friends as teens. Sloane is in love with Cam but never tells him. Cam is focused on football. They go their separate ways and life falls apart from them both…bringing them back to each other and turning their lives upside down.

    Definitely worth the read 💙

    4 solid stars ⭐️

    Kara Kendrick is a new author for me and I really love her writing style. It is a light romantic style that is easy to read. This book is book 1 in a new series titled Thunder Creek.

    It finds out FMC Sloane Carter moving back home after a bad breakup and living in the big city. She has moved home to figure out where she should be in her life and the small hometown living back in her childhood house is the place where she needs to do that.

    Her dad is the head football coach at the high school and she enjoys being back in the small town with her best friend. One night, fueled by alcohol and bad decisions, Sloane finds herself emailing her high school best friend/secret crush professional football player, Cam Crawford and spilling her secret crush to him. The thing is, Cam never sees the email because he is cut from his team and heads back to the same small town. Cam is having a hard time processing the fact that he was cut from his team. Sure, his performance wasn’t the greatest this past season but that had to do more with the off field distraction of a very hot taboo video of him and several teammates engages in acts with very loose women. Cam needs to get his career back on track.

    Cam reaches out to Coach Carter to see if he can help him with the high school team over their summer practices and if Coach can give him pointers on how to return to his game. Coach offers for Cam to move in with him while he is in town – the same house that Sloane lives in.

    This is when things get very sassy, sexy, and secretive for Sloane and Cam. Of course you have the whole friends to lovers, forced proximity, forbidden love, don’t date the coach’s daughter storyline that keeps you trying to figure out what will happen next. Both Cam and Sloane are not exactly up front with each other about things in their past that could impact their relationship. Because of this, the third act break up happens but seems to be resolved vey quickly.

    I loved this story for its banter, spiciness, sneaking in the middle of the night, and dealing with the small town gossips that like to make it their business to keep an eye on this couple. Also, the author does a great job of developing the other characters for this new series and gets us set up for the next book which is very exciting. The bonus content/epilogue is a great wrap up for our couple.
