Overdose (Ash Suspense Thrillers with a Dash of Romance Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.1 out of 5 stars 153 ratings

From USA Today Bestselling Author, Uvi Poznansky, comes a gripping medical thriller:

After recovering from coma, Ash discovers that the man who performed her brain surgery has a questionable medical experience and a dark past, starting with his medical mission in India ten years ago and ending just recently, with his wife’s suicide. Should Ash expose him, at the risk of becoming vulnerable to his revenge?

In an attempt to learn more, Ash goes on a date with him. The waitress drops a pink cellphone into her hand. Then, she is killed. On the cellphone are his wife’s last words. “Perhaps you have the urge to shut me off, or at least to ignore what I’m about to say. But listen you must, because even if you don’t believe it, you’re already much too close to danger… Neil is my undoing. Make sure he isn’t yours.”

★★★★★ "The book is so taut and suspenseful that I couldn't put it down, and once I was hooked, I grabbed every chance to read that I could to find out what happened next."

Uvi Poznansky is a USA TODAY bestselling, award-winning author, poet and artist. OVERDOSE is book 3 in the Ash Suspense Thrillers with a Dash of Romance. Not surprisingly, Poznansky weaves another fantastic medical thriller with intriguing twists and turns that will easily captivate the reader’s attention from the opening page. The author paints a gripping story in a very vivid and convincing way. In addition, the characters are drawn with great credibility and integrity.

The book description gives a sneak preview: ‘Months after recovering from coma, Ash discovers that the man who performed her brain surgery has a questionable medical experience and a dark past, starting with his medical mission in India ten years ago and ending just recently, with his wife’s suicide. Should Ash expose him, at the risk of becoming vulnerable to his revenge?

In an attempt to learn more, Ash goes on a date with him. When the waitress drops a pink cellphone into her hand, she is hit by a bullet. On the cellphone are his wife’s last words. “Perhaps you have the urge to shut me off, or at least to ignore what I’m about to say. But listen you must, because even if you don’t believe it, you’re already much too close to danger… Neil is my undoing. Make sure he isn’t yours.”

Now, if that’s not enough to get your curiosity juices flowing, I don’t know what will. But if you want to find out what happens, you’ll just have to turn the pages for yourself! However, I will say it was well worth the read. I’ve read this author several times and I must say I was very impressed yet again. She delivers every time.

I enjoyed the story, character development, and dialogue. There were plenty of plot twists that I didn’t see coming and that added to the book’s mystique. When I stopped reading to work, I found myself wondering what happened in the book, and replaying parts of the novel in my head to see if I could figure more out. It has been a while since I enjoyed a book this much. It’s a first-class thriller with perfect pacing. Not much is as it appears here, which is just the way fans of mystery, thriller and suspense will want it!

This was a fascinating and captivating read that had me immersed from the beginning. The story flowed from scene to scene with ease, and as always, the author shows exceptional ability when it comes to storytelling. There are plenty of attention-grabbing moments in this page turner that will take the reader on a truly mesmerizing journey!

I’ll be looking forward to reading more from this author in the future. Highly recommended and a well-deserved five stars from me.

All in all a pretty good entertaining story. Not too many editing errors. Mostly clean. The 3 stars are for one case of unnecessary racy sex convo and for the Scripture references all being attributed to the villain - almost a subtle hint that his penchant for Scripture was a lot of the reason for the kind of person he was. Don’t care for an author taking that tack!

Uvi Poznansky's newest release kept me glued to my seat. Overdose, lured me in on page one then further enticed me with each page turn, immersing me into a gripping medical thriller––and looking over my shoulder as if I was only one step away from the villain. The third book in Poznansky's captivating series, this story won’t leave readers lost if they read the story first. But should they read these stories in order, they'll be rewarded and stunned at how this USA Today Bestselling Author weaves past characters into this new thrilling saga.

The writer's first person present style draws the reader into the heroine's mind as she unravels each clue. Tempted to scream out 'no, don't go there' as if Ash should heed my warning, I rode a rollercoaster with twists and turns all the way to the last page.

I read Overdose in one sitting, but nothing is rushed. Each richly drawn character plays a crucial part as Ash uncovers the who, why, when, and how of this delicious mystery. And the ending had me wondering how the heroine could possibly be saved in time––and by whom.

Poznansky pulls in current events and high technology in this fast-paced thriller, which gives the story even more appeal. Overdose will snag your interest, lure you in and won't let go. I look forward to the next book in the series, Ash Suspense Thrillers With A Dash of Romance. I highly recommend Overdose––especially on a cold, spooky night.

This is indeed a thriller which combines both medical and computer knowledge with a touch of romance.

Dr. Patel, it appears, is not what he professes to be which has Ash and Michael on his trail to determine exactly what he has 'up his sleeve'. Supposedly he is a Professor of Psychology and a Neurosurgeon..., Stand by for some investigative techniques that are excellent.

A pink cellphone, and funeral pyres in India are important parts in the process, as well. The reader is also 'listening' as well as reading. There are devices involved which gave me a headache just reading about them... Just the possibility of this occurring is mind boggling.

Some doctors, including Dr. Patel, don't take the Hippocratic Oath as seriously as the ancient Greeks did when writing it. Ethics were tossed out the window in his case, for sure.

Isaiah 26:19 is mentioned and I thought that was a perfect touch in the context of this novel. Love Browny, the Golden Retriever! Good dog, good dog...

Characters are well developed, plot is multi-layered and the reader is taken on a journey which involves both a medical mystery and computer knowledge. Extremely well written novel.

    Most highly recommended.

The great doctor is full of himself and he has a lot of thinly controlled rage. Still Ash trusted his medical judgement to treat her. She had been in a serious medical condition in the previous book and only a little detail of that is provided in this book. So there's a bit of background info missing, but it didn't keep me from enjoying this book. Ash senses that there's something off about Dr. Patel, and she's determined to find out what it is.

As she collects clues, she's more sure that something is wrong. Well written and I enjoyed it.

Another gem from the gifted pen of Uvi Poznansky. Overdose is the third in the “Ash Suspense Thrillers with a Dash of Romance” series.

I’ve long been a fan of Ms Poznansky and I was confident I’d find this book as satisfying as her earlier book. I’m glad to say that it didn’t disappoint. As always, the book has great flow and the author uses a great many clever literary devices when telling the story.

The title “Overdose” gives a hint to the book’s content, but there is far more in the story than I originally expected. The shady Dr Patel, pink cell phones, as well as funeral pyres in India, all combine to make a multi-layered narrative. I have found that Ms Poznansky like to weave an intricate web, that is fun for her readers to unravel.

I have no hesitation in recommending Overdose to anyone who likes a good story with a dash of romance, and plenty of suspense. Overdose is a well-crafted book written with intelligence and flair.

5.0 out of 5 stars If only Hitchcock were still alive
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on October 5, 2019
About halfway through reading Overdose I got to thinking that it would make a great movie, a thriller to match anything that Alfred Hitchcock ever put on the screen (except maybe Vertigo). And then I thought 'If only Hitchcock were alive now. He would love this novel. It has all the ingredients he'd need.' For a start, the blurb (for blurb read trailer) is irresistible. For seconds, the sample that Amazon gives is soooo tantalising. And finally to the book itself. The plot, the style and the literally breathstopping thrills are the fresh cream on a chocolate cake that's already chock-full of calories - or maybe arsenic.

I'm not going to summarise the plot. I just want to say that I'm not quite as admiring of brain surgeons after meeting Dr Patel, the man who operated on Ash, the Hitchcockian heroine. Was it the Hippocratic oath he took or the hypocritical one? And what had he to do with the death of his wealthy wife? I see Overdose as a late-night movie or a Netflix must that would send you to bed wondering if you could possibly go to sleep after seeing THAT. And could the sudden creak on the third stair from the top possibly be from the dear doctor's heavy tread?
