The Second Chance Romance I Needed
I lovingly blame Entangled Publishing for all of the swooning I am currently doing over this book. I have not read Beck before but her ability to bring humor, eyebrow waggling steam and connection was excellent. I'm kinda mad it took me this long to discover her.Second chance romance is starting to grow on me. I'm typically a first encounter, hot and steamy chemistry kinda gal, but man did Bridget and Archer totally take my heart by storm. The Alaska setting, the way the writing style intensifies their connection and the emotional struggle of both POVs made this a top read for me.There is something intimate and captivating about a man that doesn't back down from what he wants. Especially when what he wants comes in a pint-sized package of sarcasm and flawed strength. Both main characters were well written and equally fleshed out. The supporting crew added effortlessly to the plot making every moment more comical and heartwarming.I have not read Wild in Captivity (Book 1) and feel this novel stands on its own. I will most definitely be reading the first book though because damn! Highly recommend this novel to all of my second chance romance readers! Thank you Entangled Publishing for the gifted digital copy in exchange for an honest and unbiased review! True ratimg 4.5/5.

    I have never been to Alaska I feel like I know this town.

    Bridget is strong and independent but really needs to be taken care of. Archer is trying to make up for his unexpected departure four years ago. Things couldn’t have worked better in his favor to put her in a position in which she had to rely on him for help.

    Really Isn’t this what most women want? To be strong but still have a man who can be stronger when she needs him to be? Archer’s devotion to Bridget is clear. He put her needs in front of his. He takes care of her dog, he pilots her plane for her, he acts as a back support, and he sees to every personal need. Archer is the perfect man.

    The cliffhanger ending has me excited for book 3. I can’t wait to read about Lilah and her new developments.

    I love Samanthe Beck’s books. She tells a heart tugging story with humor laced throughout. If you are already a fan you’ll love it. If you are new I highly recommend you go back and read from her many other series. Start with Private Practice and finish off the Bluelick series. Follow up with the McCade Brothers books (best Man With Benefits). The Emergency series is almost my favorite (but I kind of feel like I’m cheating on Bluelick). The Compromised series is a bit more risqué but certainly won’t disappoint. I’m loving Captivity and can’t wait to find out what happens next.

    Archer Ellison III. The one and only love of Bridget Shanahan's life. But that was a long time ago. She is over it AND him now. Or so she thought. Until he walks back into her life. It's not like she lives in a convenient place for him to walk into, either. He had to go completely out of his comfort zone to buy a house in Captivity, Alaska. Just to pursue her. Bridget is determined to not give in. No way. Well, maybe it's not that easy...

    Bridget is the only woman Archer has ever loved. He knew once he got to where he wanted to be in his career, he'd come back for her. He wasn't willing to accept a possibility that he couldn't win her back. Though, it is taking a lot of thought and strategies.

    I love this book. And this series. Bridget is probably my favorite character so far!

    This is my first book by Samanthe Beck and it is safe to say it will definitely. not be my last. Samanthe Beck swiftly drew me into this second chance romance. Beck's writing is easily engaging, she characters are interesting and I was swept up in the Alaskan setting and family run airfield. Beck layers in lighthearted moments with real life sorrows and problems to build this romance between two people who have loved each other for years and have to learn to trust again.

    Bridget, the heroine, has been left in charge of her family's airfield while her brother is on his honeymoon, so she is ready to set into her adulthood and prove she is capable. But her confidence is thrown off when her College Sweetheart walks back into her life ready to prove that he still loves her and that they are meant to be together. After a challenge Bridget finds herself in need of Archer's help in order to keep the airfield running smoothly without her brother cancelling his honeymoon plans. Archer, knowing that forced proximity is a great way to break down Bridget's walls, takes every opportunity he can to become indispensable to her as well as show her that she needs to trust herself and live her life to the fullest. (Content Notes: there is death of a brother that is explored and discussed through Bridget, death does not happen in this book.)

    This book is a face paced, sensually steamy and charmingly romantic story. I loved watching the cat and mouse game between Bridget and Archer play out. Bridget is confident and independent and she keeps her walls up to prove she is strong. Archer is sure of himself and his love for Bridget that he know that persistence and openness will help him win his battle against Bridget's protected heart. Archer is absolutely swoon worthy as he learns to readjust his tactics, learn to understand Bridget better, and show her that she is the most important person in the world to him. I loved watching Bridget's walls slowly crumble as Archer shows her again and again that he loves her. This novel is also delightfully steamy, Samanthe Beck has done a wonderful job of using their physical exploration as another way of showing the reader how Bridget feels and how she is learning to trust again. The physical relationship between Bridget and Archer is very nicely done, and really speaks to who they are as a couple with a past and how their bodies trust and know each other.

    I would very highly recommend this novel, if you love a second chance romance with a wonderful steam level and a hero who will do anything to win his heroine back, this is definitely the book for you! I am looking forward to reading the first book in this series, as well as seeing where this series will continue to grow.
