The Penny Green series follows the ups, downs and investigations of Victorian news reporter Penny Green. As one of the first lady news reporters on Fleet Street, she has her work cut out.

The Churchill and Pemberley cozy mystery series features senior sleuthing duo Annabel Churchill and Doris Pemberley. With a combined age of 140 and a penchant for cake and slapstick mishaps, they somehow manage to outwit the local village constabulary.

The protagonist in my newest series is Augusta Peel, a bookish and reluctant sleuth with a mysterious past. What secrets could she be hiding?

All my mysteries are clean, light and fun to read. Some include fascinating historical detail too. I hope you enjoy them!

As a huge fan of historical mystery books, I was thrilled to find this series. I enjoyed this one in the series as James, Penny, Mr. Edward’s and the newspaper reporters all build on their relationship and friendships. There are a few twists and turns to navigate as Penny and James work together to solve a new and strange set of circumstances around two deaths on the same day. I look forward to the deepening of the storylines created thus far in the next book of the series.

I am enjoying the Penny Green series, but in this book she made a lot of opinionated accusations. She expected arrests to be made based on her word, and in one instance she had not even seen the person who committed the crime, but thought she knew who it was. She was angry that the police
didn’t arrest this person. This made Penny seem hysterical and whiny. I was disappointed in her character in these instances.
There are a lot of historical details, which are interesting but do not add to the plot. Some of these I would like to have skipped.
Other than these issues, it was a great book and I hope to finish the series.

So many people have secrets that its no wonder the murder and suicide of two men was hard to solve. But with Inspector James Blakely and Miss Penny Green on the case it is bound to be solved. The "Who Done It" came as a complete surprise to me.
How good are you at solving mysteries? Read this book and see if you can guess the culprit.

I've enjoyed the previous three books and really enjoyed them. In this book Penny is really pushing James against a rock and a hard place. She also appears to be somewhat naive or stupid. The chances or maybe the decisions she makes are not too bright. She really doesn't need the inspector other than to gain assistance from the Yard when the locals don't allow her to work with them. All in all, I'm enjoying the series. Now the cat's out of the bag.

Personally, I really like books with some historical background, in this case scientific, when I'm intrigued to read more about than just a book. "The Inventor" is a book about the chase in a field of inventing bulbs, skilfully laced with layers of other stories. There are crime story and a love story and all of them are filled with interesting details, very vivid ones, which make the events more lively and easier to understand.
It is hard for most of us to comprehend that not so a long time ago a woman who works and earns her money was an abomination and not a norm. Also, it is hard to imagine that you, if you are a woman, was hard to be invited to dinner or some event if you didn't have a male escort. This book is telling a on the one hand telling a story about scientific develepment, and on the other, about the devolopment of women's right to have life of their own.

First, I will say that this book is well-researched, with fascinating historical detail; the writing and editing are excellent. But the characters seemed just somehow flat and stale. They did not reach out and grab my attention or empathy to the point that I actually cared what happened. The plot should have been intriguing, but the story seemed to drag and stagnate. I haven't read other books of the series, and this was so well-written and researched that I might give those a try. But I can't really recommend this one.

I read one of her books, then had to read all three in the series.
Was so excited to get the fourth one and it didn’t disappoint.
Now I can’t wait for the fifth. I always respect excellent research by an author because I learn a lot while enjoying the novel.
I love the romantic interest with her Scotland Yard detective and hope that will come to fruition sometime soon. Mr Edwards is a nice enough fellow and I hope he will find some reason to find fulfillment.......hey! How about he accompanies the explorer in the quest for the father in South America and discovers a passion for exploration which would get him out of the boring library.
Anyway, read the books in this series.....guarantee you won’t be disappointed!

Overall, I've been enjoying the Penny Green series. I like the time period and I like that she's a newspaper reporter who's not quite as good at sleuthing as she wants to be. The love triangle is also intriguing. I've got the new one waiting for me on my Kindle and as soon as I finish the book I'm reading now, I'm diving right back into this world!

I am thoroughly enjoying the Penny Green series. They are full of twists and turns. I especially enjoy the descriptions of victorian London and following all the characters as they grow and progress. At first I really wanted Penny and James to end up together but I have to say that Mr Edwards is very much growing on me! I have found these books very unputdownable. I am looking forward to reading the next one and finding out what happens next! I must also mention that the notes at the end of the book regarding historical notes are fascinating and I very much enjoy reading those too.
