What’s worse than playing a fake girlfriend to the all-pro defensive end for the Seattle Phantom?
When the same infamous playboy is my ex-husband’s best friend.
I’m normally great at keeping my distance from him—pretending like he doesn’t get under my skin.
But after he punches a teammate over me, we’re stuck faking a relationship to save his career and mine.
If we play the game well, we could both get out ahead.
I just have to remember everything about this is for show, including the reformed player act.
A few blurred lines and crossed boundaries won’t change things.
Because falling for your ex’s best friend is wrong, right?

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (I would give it a million stars if I could).
    Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

Maggie and her books are literally works of ART! I am so obsessed with them, I have now purchased all physical copies of them for my library at home!

First off... THERE IS A PREQUEL. READ DEFENSIVE END FIRST. It's on her website. GO READ!

Harper is a museum curator with major good girl vibes. She had a moment with Alex years ago and ended up marrying his best friend/agent instead. What she doesn't know is Alex, NHL superstar defensive end, has secretly been crushing on her the whole time, and he's ready to swoop in and save the day when her marriage falls apart.

Your boy Alex is obsesseddddd with Harper and it's so freakin swoony. Once he gets his shot he is deliciously possessive and on a mission to make sure he gets the girl this time. Harper is understandably hesitant about getting into anything real with Alex, but let's be honest... who isn't going to give the 6'4" tattoo'd charming football player (who she's always had a thing for) a chance. The fake dating becomes not so fake and they fit like they were made for each other. The conflict at the end made total sense with the plot and I enjoyed that it wasn't realllllly a breakup.

“𝐍𝐨𝐰 𝐛𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐚 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐠𝐢𝐫𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐦𝐲 🍆.”

The spice was soooo spicingggggg you guys. 🥵

No crazy k!nks (although they both have a bit of an exhibitionist streak 😏) or anything like that just 🔥 chemistry, dirty talk, oodles of praise, and maybe some of him taunting her about how much better he is than her ex 🥵 *fans self* 🔥🫠

I am UNWELL. I just finished this book & I already know I’m going to be in the biggest book slump after this read. 😭

I already know this will be one of those books that I reread over & over again. I already can’t wait to read the rest of the series. I am on the edge of my seat waiting to read both Colt & Tobias’s stories! 😍🫶🏽

I notice all the little details about him that I like and forget about the whole package which is a giant red flag hoisted on top of a train wreck barreling down the rails at three hundred miles per hour.

I completely fell for the writing in this book, it was so refreshing. Maybe it's the past books I've recently read but it had great communication, realness, rawness, and no fluff. I can't say enough good things, loved Harper and Alex, and the friend group. These two shared a connection that you could feel and Alex pining for her over the years, damn that was rough. I loved the way he approached his chance once he got it, he wasn't going to lose her again. The chemistry was flowing off the pages, completely swoon worthy. Unlike her ex, It's amazing how people will show their true colors, when they don't get what they want. I really enjoyed how they resolved the conflict. Can't wait to continue on with this series.

    Helloooo Alex!

    I loved this story.
Alex and Harper met first and had major chemistry. But she was looking for forever and he wasn’t.
This book starts off where Harper was married to Alex’s best friend but is already divorced. When Alex finds out they’re divorced, he is ready to try to get his second chance.

This was so good and it evolved so perfectly. You get the full story without having to read the prequel. I went right in. Didn’t read the prequel. I am tempted to though because Alex and Harper are so perfect.
I love MMC where he is so serious and mean looking but is a sweetheart with the woman he loves.

This was great. Will be finishing the series.

3.5 stars. Harper and Alex have some old buried chemistry from years ago back when they first met but Harper knew that Alex had heartbreak written all over him and she was not a casual type of girl. Fast forward to the present and Harper is newly divorced from Drew, Alex's agent and best friend no less. Circumstances have now put Harper and Alex in each other's orbit with Harper playing the role of his fake girlfriend. That old chemistry reignites and add in some forced proximity and these two are ripe to explode. I'm not sure what it was, but this story wasn't as edgy or angsty as I expected even though there was plenty of push and pull. As much I love dual POV and character transparency, I also love a bit of guesswork and mixed messages, too, where motivations can come into question. Having said that, Harper and Alex were fairly mature in their communication given how they got away from each other the first time, so the majority of the drama had to do with Drew and the fake relationship. I was entertained, but not in an eager, page turning kind of way. It read a bit formulaically especially with Harper constantly reminding Alex that she's not his usually type or not in his league of whom he usually dates. Still, Harper deserved a happy ending with a sexy athlete who only had eyes for her and she got it.

5.0 out of 5 stars so good!!

I feel I’ve been spoiled this month because it’s been great read after great read and this was no exception. I gave the update on how I was halfway through this story and loving it, the fact that now I finished shows how invested I was.

This was an emotional read with low angst that I loved. Alex has wanted one thing since he met her but he stayed on the sidelines and respected her relationship while she was married to his best friend.

Once he found out that they got divorced and the reasons behind it, the gloves are off and he has his eye set on the woman that he felt should have been his years ago.

Harper is healing from what she thought was her happily ever after. Now she finds herself divorced, in an empty apartment she can’t really afford and due to an incident and quick thinking on their part, she must enter a fake relationship with the one person she shouldn’t.

That can be a lot for one person but she handles it so well while tossing out her banter and keeping this pretty entertaining. I love me some possessive men but I wasn’t ready for him. When you get the true back story, how he felt and how he acts towards Harper when he is allowed to let his guard down is truly everything. You see their struggles, their thoughts and true feelings and you can’t help but cheer them on.

Side Note: I absolutely love when old characters happen to be intertwined in new stories especially when we get little updates to their lives along the way as they help their friends achieve their own HEA.

Maggie Rawdon’s books have been on my tbr for a while and I’m so happy to have finally picked up some of her books and I’ve practically inhaled the Seattle Phantom Football Series. If you like sports romance, this is a must read. Pick Six is the first book and this is Harper and Alex‘s story.

Harper and Alex meet one night, and they liked each other but didn’t see it going somewhere, so nothing happened. Instead Harper went ahead and married Alex‘s best friend and agent and Alex regretted this ever since. However, Harper‘s marriage wasn’t that great and she ended up getting divorced. Harper is such a good person who does charity work, and she totally deserves a happily ever after.

Alex is a football player and when someone says something inappropriate to Harper, he hits that person, and it ends up turning into a scandal. To soften the blow these two then date and they finally get a chance to explore what could have been before. Alex is completely obsessed with Harper, and I absolutely loved that.

The romance is absolutely amazing and the sparks between Alex and Harper are scorching hot. I’m so happy that these two could reconnect and they are one of my new favorite couples. This book is the perfect mixture between the sport and an amazing romance.

Harper is at a function for the museum trying to get donors to give money when she is confronted by one drunk guy who keeps touching her. She is in luck though because Alex comes up and the guys come to blows when Alex sees that its Harper. Alex is the best friend of her ex husband and he is one gorgeous hunk. They have to fake date as Alex could loose his place on his team and when he finds out that Drew and her are divorced he isnt going to let her slip through his fingers a second time. He had no idea that his agent, Drew had cheated on her and he makes it his mission to make her his. Its a spicy story.

If you like a hot reformed player this one is for you. It is fun, sexy and Alex will do literally anything for Harper.

« My heart pounds in my chest at the sight of her, my girl finally spread out asking for me. »🔥

There is a bonus prequel (Defensive end) on her site (there’s a link to it if you read the e-book) that in my opinion is a must for their connection to make sense.
