This book is a comprehensive guide that provides invaluable insights into programming for training and periodization. Coach Curtis breaks down complex concepts into easy-to-understand principles, making it accessible for both beginners and experienced athletes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great training manual for coach and athletes - practical, clear, detailed
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on December 27, 2021
Over the last 30 years I have read allot of books, magazines and articles on fitness training so I consider myself to be reasonably well informed but definitely no expert. Not having a scientific mindset then I have sometimes struggled with the more technical concepts but this is where this strength and conditioning manual by coach Curtis really stands out for me. It is written more as a manual than a text book and is easier to follow and apply. There is detail, for instance the section on athlete testing is about 70 pages alone covering a huge range of sports and disciplines. I particularly liked the periodization section again for its clarity and practicality. The editorial style and layout makes the text easy and quick to understand, telling me what I need to know to apply the principles without over emphasizing the scientific concepts. I would say that this manual will appeal to coaches but also athletes who want to self help.
