Watching your child learn to read and write can be a wonderfully exciting time! As mothers ourselves, we have seen first-hand the joy children get from being able to recognise their first sounds, words and sentences. Structured in a weekly format, we hope this workbook will provide a straightforward and enjoyable way in which to guide your child on their phonics journey!

This book is ideal in supporting and reinforcing phase 3 phonics for Reception children in England. Reception children are those entering the first year of primary school (4-5 year olds). Schools in England are encouraged to follow a ‘Systematic Synthetic Phonics’ (SSP) programme, which is often influenced by the 2007 DfE’s ‘Letters and Sounds’ handbook. Our books are structured using the ‘Letters and Sounds’ handbook for guidance and so will fit well alongside your child’s own school teaching of phonics.

For those children not in a school environment in England but who speak English, the book is suitable for children as they start learning to read and write, typically 4-6 year olds. The book is also perfect for non-English speaking children of all ages who are learning to read and write English.

This book covers Phase 3 phonics which is typically taught during the second term of the first year of school. It is the second book in our series, 'Bright Light Phonics'.

    A terrific book for parents and teachers alike to use with children. Appealingly colourful and clearly structured with various types of multi-sensory practice. Activities are child-centred and the just-right length. Notably, the book contains fun-filled games and practical activities. My students loved playing Splat!
