Even Dwayne is driving me insane. There's no training in this world that could prepare me for dealing with a love-sick battle goose.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 21, 2024This series is so freaking good. I probably need therapy because I find the unhinged books the most fulfilling to read, but who cares. I’m in love with the characters. Little psychotic Daphne, bloodthirsty Dwayne, creepy Countess, and Cold Blooded Killer Chloe! They are all so interesting and different from characters in other books. Dwayne and Daphne are my favorite, but I hate what Daphne has gone through. I also love that this series isn’t all about romance. It’s about friendships and mystery with a little romance sprinkled in. I can’t wait to read the next one!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 31, 2025I'm currently binge reading to my great joy and dismay. It will be over soon but I just can't stop. My kind of story and characters! Thank you for this unexpected treat!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 25, 2024Chloe is getting mad. Someone has been attacking her friends, the werewolf alpha just won’t give up, and Malik is acting distant.
They still have several entities to collect and send home, and that’s all on top of dealing with her mother!
This third book in the series starts a little after the end of the second, and takes place after some of the events mentioned in the Blood and Magic series (this book is a spin-off from that series, but it’s not necessary to have read the books even though they do intersect a little). It is definitely necessary to have read the other books in THIS series though!
The pace starts picking up, as Chloe and Malik are having to deal with the threat of the Lightbringers; meaning that it won’t be long before their time is up as far as sending the god-energies back to where they came from.
Meanwhile, Chloe is working flat out to try and save as many people as she can, while forgetting to eat and sleep herself. Both Jeb and Sarah are targeted, which means Chloe has to travel to fix the issues.
This was an engrossing read, with plenty of action, a little romance (mostly off page) and some interesting revelations (sharp eyed readers will probably have guessed these as there are clues).
It ends on a bit of a hook, as something dramatic occurs, but nothing traumatic, and no need to wait since the final book is already out!
An enjoyable read, urban fantasy fans, especially those that like morally grey MCs and a slightly darker worldview, will enjoy.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 2, 2025Great story. There's definitely trauma in the story but she tells it in a way that it doesn't drag you down. I don't know how she does that. It's an original plot. Lots of humor, bonds and adventure. Romance with a hot god as well. So if you like BA women with a glorious hunk and a wicked sense of humor you'll love this. Plus there's a sentient murderous duck for a best friend.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 28, 2024This was by far the best one in the series I think. You finally get to find out what happened to Sarah, more history on Jeb, why Nathaniel is the way he is, shocking revelation on Chloe and her parents and things finally go down with Braxton. This is such a roller coaster of events you will be so hooked you can't put it down. I just adore this series and after everything that happened in this book I can't imagine what the next one entails.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 14, 2025I really like Chloe in this book. She seemed to be less of an assassin and more wanting to help people. The sexual tension between her and the fragmented God are interesting. They explained a little bit more in here about the light bringers, Daphne, and her uncle end up getting kidnapped, and Chloe, and an abnormal group of friends go help rescue them. I did like the mystery of who’s causing them problems and of course, Chloe figures it out at the end. I will definitely be reading the next book in the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 12, 2024This one tugged at me. Loving the story and the world. Hating the trauma for the characters. Daphne is epic.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 17, 2024I am enjoying this series so much. I am engrossed in the storyline and I’ve done nothing but read it on my vacation!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book
A fitting continuation of an intense paranormal action packed, smouldering romance story. The characters develop further, Chloe becoming an avenging super hero and so much more.

5.0 out of 5 stars *****
Okay that cliffhanger was chilling. I am so excited I'll be reading the final book next. It's so good. I am glad the Mcs were able to communicate about their feeling at last. Though I would have liked Chloe to have had a trick or two up her sleeve when she was caught in the witch's circle but other than that I loved this installment.

5.0 out of 5 stars good, evil, light and dark- which is which
These books are beyond intriguing. You find yourself loving some very violent acts and people.
I even love Chole stepping back and letting Daphne do violent things
Excellent storytelling

5.0 out of 5 stars Such an unusual take!
Gotta say I love this series. It does not follow the ‘standard’ cast of characters — a battle goose sidekick— really?! And that difference really makes it stand out. And the writing is great too! What more can you ask for??

5.0 out of 5 stars urban fantasy
Après avoir lu la série avec Prue Nakai comme héroïne, je ne m’attendais pas à aimer encore plus celle ci sur cette charmante mais naïve Chloé.
