Editorial Reviews

Review

"Author William Mitchell includes light hearted rocket races and deeper morality questions around bionic psionics. He touches on what happens when the government arbitrarily relocates one group of people to a place where there are already other groups of people and then walks away. The book is fun and well written, with great characters that have stayed with me. I recommend this book to all who love a good space opera." -- Judith A. Veatch

"The Robots of Andromeda not only builds upon the first two novels, it creates lovely opportunities for expansion within the Andromeda universe, something that I'm excited to see where W.H. Mitchell's mind takes us." -- M. C. Hanover

"Very interesting and creative storytelling." -- Ward Lenz

"
Robots of Andromeda (Imperium Chronicles Book Three) by W.H. Mitchell zips rapidly among conflicting factions with appropriate violence and gore. Mitchell's arduous devotion to the significance of skilled language choices is testament to his respect for reader investment. Snarky humor bubbles up and solidifies progression of dialogue and narratives. Mitchell knows how to excite and relax his readers. Ready for Volume Four!" -- Joanna Baxter

W. H. Mitchell is the author of the space opera series The Imperium Chronicles, including The Arks of Andromeda, The Dragons of Andromeda, The Robots of Andromeda, The Dreams of Andromeda, and The Elves of Andromeda. With dark, dry humor, he explores the hubris of humanity through palace intrigues, mega-corporations, and occasionally confused robots. He has also written a humor book based on his tweets called A Little of Me Goes a Long Way, and a comic strip, A Frog Named Moss.

Born and raised in Omaha, NE, W. H. Mitchell has called Kansas City his home for more than a decade. With a degree in English from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Mitchell’s writing has been compared to “Frank Herbert through the eyes and voice of Douglas Adams.” He currently lives in Olathe, KS with his wife and two cats.

I really liked this third book and recommend people get this and the previous two books. Quick and fun reads kind of like a Scalzi, with some humor thrown in. A cool add is the threat of the Klixians and how key characters must adjust. Very interesting and creative storytelling. This is a space opera style story with lots of characters, so it is very helpful that the back of the book has a good character map for reference. Enjoy the book!

Having read the first two books in this series, several of the characters in this third book are old friends to me now. There is the brave knight, Sir Golan, and his trusty robot, Squire. There is Lord Devlin Maycare and his research team seeking ancient, mysterious technology. There is the swashbuckling ship captain Ramus, his engineer Fugg and their robot, Gen. And there are robots. Many different types and styles of robots, all experiencing self awareness and trying to answer the age old question, "What is the meaning of life?" And there is a newly encountered race who are pretty sure that they own the universe. Author William Mitchell includes light hearted rocket races and deeper morality questions around bionic psionics. He touches on what happens when the government arbitrarily relocates one group of people to a place where there are already other groups of people and then walks away. The book is fun and well written, with great characters that have stayed with me. I recommend this book to all who love a good space opera.

The Robots of Andromeda not only builds upon the first two novels, it creates lovely opportunities for expansion within the Andromeda universe, something that I’m excited to see where W.H. Mitchell’s mind takes us. This was hands-down an easy read as the author seems to really settle into his characters and the overall story arc. I always enjoy getting drawn into a story where the pages come to life in my imagination and that happens here. I got carried along as the different characters continue to follow their paths – chosen and otherwise – and was surprised at how emotional I got at a pivotal moment or two. That’s a reader’s true investment in a good story. I can’t ask for anything more! Not true… I can ask for the next in the series!
