Royal Alien Mate (Savage Martians Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 894 ratings

He's determined to conquer her heart...

Desperate to save her parents from debtors' prison, Esmay signs up as an alien mail order bride. She'll travel to Mars to become a savage alien's mate, and in exchange for her sacrifice, all her family's debt will be forgiven. She prays she'll find some semblance of happiness on Mars and hopes her future husband treats her with kindness. But she's stunned to discover the muscle-bound blue alien she's been matched with is Prince Vaath, a fearsome warrior who once led a deadly battle against Earth. How can she willingly give herself to an alien who killed so many of her people?

Prince Vaath is aware many of his followers are hesitant to mate with humans, but after losing most of their females, it's necessary that they claim as many human females as possible in order to procreate and strengthen their numbers. He's shocked by the possessiveness he feels when he first looks upon golden-haired Esmay, and long-buried instincts soon rise to the surface as he claims his new princess time and time again. He knows she's afraid of him and believes him to be a savage, but he can't get enough of the little human who incites his desires, and he is determined to one day win her heart. But dark forces are gathering, and it will take all his power to keep Esmay safe from harm.

I was able to get lost in this book for several hours and enjoy the story of Esmay going from a defeated Earth and terrible living conditions to the wife of the Crown Prince of Mars ... Who also happened to have led several devastating battles on Earth twenty plus years ago culminating in its defeat. Now Mars is Prince Vaath's people's homeworld as theirs was destroyed by enemies, along with most of their women. Guess who wants Earth women as wives/mates to give them children yes but also the comfort of a woman?

There is a lot that goes on but nothing over the top. The couple has some time to fall quickly in love. Bad guys attack. The Prince definitely has sexy down when it comes to his new "sunshine" and boy oh boy does she like it!

As far as fantasy writing and helping me take my mind off this CoronaVirus Pandemic this book gets 5 🌟.

Sue Mercury writes an enchanting and breathtaking tale of romance between alien settlers (from a distant galaxy) on Mars and the humans on earth who provoked a catastrophic war with them.

When Esmay overhears her parents trying to come up with a plan to avoid debtor’s prison because they are so deeply in debt, she makes up her mind to become a mail-order- bride for the Martians, to help her parents with the monetary incentives offered by the Martians for human brides. She sneaks away in the night because she knows her parents will not let her ‘sacrifice’ herself like that if they have any say about her decision.

Esmay is very surprised and frightened when she lands on Mars and learns that she is to be the bride of Vaath, the Prince of Mars. It takes her awhile to begin to relax and feel comfortable around him, as she learns that there are political factions on Mars that do not want humans and Marttiaxoxalians mating together, and that her new father-in-law, the king is not so very strong and highly respected by either his people or by his son Vaath.

This narrative is very well written and mimics what real life would be like in such a situation as this, with a believable number of side issues (in-fighting, rebellions, terrorist activities, political intrigue, etc.,) going on in addition to the main story of Esmay and Vaath, the romantic couple.

I give this book four stars because it is a: Page Turner. Hard to put down. A very good book. Although it is excellent, it is not a classic. Well-written cohesive story. I like the subgenre of this book, and I loved reading this one. Only a step down from being a true work of art. Four stars aren't exactly worse than five, it's just that the five-star books are the best out there, while four stars are simply excellent.

This is a very good, well written alien romance. There is a lot of detail and the characters are well developed. A war was started 20 years ago but Earth lost. Now conditions are harsh and some women are becoming mail order brides to help their families. Esmay realizes her parents may be headed to prison and joins the Mail Order Brides. Read about her and how she settles into her new life.

I like the over all story, however one of the points of the story was the aliens water source was poisoned and it only killed the females. I have ready another alien book with his same main issue. I feel like the author took that idea and ran with it, which is why I’m giving this book only 3 stars. If it hasn’t been so similar then I would have given it 4 stars.

Totally loved this book and would thoroughly recommend it and hopefully others will enjoy it as well. Esmay had no idea that when she signed up to marry a Martian that her mate would be the Prince. She just wanted to make sure her family were safe and kept out of debtors prison and he wanted to show others that taking a human woman as a mate was acceptable. Can these two overcome their problems and people's prejudices to move forward and be together.

What a cute story! Great plot, and some of those plot twists were not predictable at all! Towards the end, I was sad it finished so quickly. Great start to the series

Esmay loves her family so much that once she realises that they are destitute she becomes a mail order bride because the payment is substantial and will save her family from debtors prison. She is very afraid and angry that the Marttiaxoxalian government and treatment of humans have forced her and many women into this position. Vaath, a prince, has been informed that his bride has arrived when the spaceship landed on his planet, Mars. A sexual tale of revenge, betrayal, brutality, information withheld and love.
