That Time We Kissed Under the Mistletoe: A Sweet Romantic Comedy (Abieville Love Stories Book 4) Kindle Edition

4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 406 ratings

My holly jolly Christmas just went up in smoke. Literally …

Playing nursemaid to Bradford “Three” Fuller is the last thing I need for Christmas.

But for the next few days, I’m stuck in charge of my ex’s sparkling eyes, his ridiculous abs, and his (mostly) accidental kisses.

I don’t have a choice.

You see, Three’s only hurt because of me. And not like he hurt me a decade ago. Like … I literally concussed the man with a fire extinguisher.

Still, a make-or-break mission for my parents is what brought me back to the small town where he crushed my tender heart in the first place.

And if I screw up, I risk my mother’s approval plus the job at my father’s law firm I’ve worked for my entire life.

So I sure hope Santa stuffs my stocking full of self-control. And a defibrillator.

Because my heart just may be broken by this second chance with Three …

That Time we Kissed Under the Mistletoe is a full-length, closed-door romantic comedy in the Abieville Love Stories series, but the book can be enjoyed as a standalone.

As with all Julie Christianson’s romcoms, you’ll find plenty of sizzling chemistry, but no content beyond kisses.

Tropes:

* Second chance romance

* Small-town Christmas

* Forced Proximity

* Trapped together

* Only one couch

* He rescues her

NO THIRD ACT BREAKUP

Such a fun Christmas read!!
5 out of 5 stars
Such a fun Christmas read!!
I’ve been waiting for Three Fuller to get his story - and it did not disappoint!! 😍 @juliechristiansonauthor writes some of my very favorite books so I knew I was going to love this…I just didn’t know how much!Sara is back in Abieville after being away for 10 years, and doing all she can to avoid Three Fuller - the man who broke her heart all those years ago. But when brownie baking goes wrong, and some residents come to save the day…Three ends up with a concussion, thanks to Sara.Three hates how he hurt Sara a decade ago. After overhearing her parents, and realizing he didn’t feel like he was enough for her, he ended things. Now he’s grown up, he’s found his calling as a teacher and coach (and he still lifeguards too!) but he wishes things could’ve been different with Sara…and maybe now they can be?!I loved this story so much! It had all the good things - forced proximity, she takes care of him (he takes care of her too!), second chance…I loved it all!I’ll admit, their first encounter had me laughing - and while the laughs continued, there was also so many sweet and swoony moments too!I loved the communication and that Three was honest with her. And that she was brave enough to confront her parents about it all. I also REALLY loved how her parents handled it, and while they might not have remembered exactly what was said, they were honest with how they felt. It was all handled so perfect and that epilogue 😍😍This is book 4 in a series and can be read as a stand alone, but reading the others will bring so much more to this fun Christmas romance!

    Get your cozy reindeer jammies, hot cocoa, & Home Alone cued up! This delightful Christmas romcom by Julie Christianson will definitely get you in the holiday spirit. I adored this darling second chance romance! It was so much fun returning to Abieville for Three’s story.

    Sara Hathaway’s coming back to Abieville to do a favor for her parents. She’s hoping to get in & get out before running into the man who broke her heart 10 years ago. But, when their meeting again accidentally ends in a concussion, Sara feels responsible to nurse him back to health over the Christmas holiday.

    Bradford “Three” Fuller hated letting Sara go 10 years ago, but it was for the best. When he ends up concussed right before leaving on a Christmas cruise with his family, he’s forced to rely on the woman he never got over to care for him while he recovers. As they spend time together celebrating with snowball fights, Christmas trees, ice skating, & “Henry,” the chemistry between them all those years ago comes sizzling back to life. But what happens when the holidays end & she has to return to her life in New York City?

    Julie Christianson has a way of writing these heartfelt, lovely romcoms that tug on my heartstrings, & make me laugh. I always come away with a huge smile on my face. Sara & Three were so cute together! I loved their sweet romance with all the Christmas feels! There were so many fun moments leading to being trapped together, a heroic rescue, & lots of swoony kisses. I also enjoyed learning more about both their families & the dynamics between them. I loved the small town feel & fun traditions.

    If you’re wanting a delightful Christmas romcom with all the sweet & no spice, this is it! It can definitely be read as a standalone, but you’ll want to read all the previous books in the series. I received an advanced complimentary copy from the author but also purchased a copy through KU. All opinions are my own and voluntarily provided.

    10 years ago Sara spent several summers in Abieville, and now she's back for a few days. However a domestic incident leads to someone rushing in the house and Sara throws a fire extinguisher at the intruder and knocks him out cold. The fact it was the boy who broke her heart 10 years ago complicates things. A terrific plot, wonderful characters, lots of laughs as well as many intense moments, and a second chance at love all combine to be a wonderful Christmas themed story that will be enjoyed in any season. Family dynamics on both sides add to the excitement of this sweet small town love story. Sighs, laughter, and love for "That Time We Kissed Under the Mistletoe"!

    For four summers Sarah and her mother vacationed in the small town where Three lived. She fell in love and the forth summer when she was getting ready to start college she decided to tell him and suggest a long distance relationship. Her heart was broken when he told her he wasn’t interested in a long term relationship. She went to college and got followed the path her parents had set for her but her heart stayed broken. Ten years later she returns to the town to take care of a rental property her parents owned. She planned to make sure she didn’t run into Three but that didn’t work out for her. She ended up being responsible for him while he is recovering from a concussion ,

    There story has many layers. Will history repeat itself or can they get past the mistakes made years ago. Three’s family is a little intimidating but a lot of fun. He is small town and she is wealthy Manhattan. Will they overcome this Barrier this time. I was pulling for them and enjoyed all the antics they went through. A clean and sweet story I thoroughly enjoyed

    I enjoyed reading this novel that went a little deeper than many forced-proximity novels. I really like the people in Abieville, where the story is set. I plan to visit again, when I read more of Julie Christiansen's books.

    I love Julie Christiansen’s books so much! She has such a way with words, her books will always be must reads for me. She works magic with those words, drawing me into her world, feeling everything her characters do, so I end up laughing or crying or swooning right along with them. And swoon I did. Three Fuller is the sweetest cinnamon roll. That man has such a big heart and he and Sara were just perfect for each other. I’ve got such happy sighs right now. Loved this book!

    Sweet story of a second chance for two people who fell in love as teenagers and never fully fell back out, despite ten years apart.

    Aww! I love taking a trip to Abieville this Christmas story was perfect!

    Three and Sara broke up 10 years ago after he overheard her parents talking about him holding Sara back. Now, Sara is back in town and hoping she doesn’t (or maybe that she does) run into Three again. After an unfortunate incident with a fire extinguisher, Sara find herself being Three’s caretaker for the next 3 days. What could possibly happen? 😏

    This was such a cute story full of insights into the past, small town Christmas vibes, the Fuller family, and a second chance at love!

    4.0 out of 5 stars Christmas second-chance romance
    Reviewed in Australia on December 22, 2024
    I love a good second-chance romance, and this one hit the spot! I'm glad that both the main characters, Sara Hathaway and Three Fuller, reflected on how they had grown during their time apart, and that it was even necessary for their growth, but they discovered that they still wanted to be together. There was a bit of miscommunication, but partly that was one personality who tended to jump to conclusions and also these characters were teenagers when they first fell in love, and who doesn't know (or was once) a teenager who couldn't communicate well! I don't mind miscommunication if it is done realistically, and this was.

    I loved the Christmas traditions Sara attempted to recreate, and the way Three celebrated her birthday. The secret storeroom was fun to discover until it wasn't, and then it was again. 😉

    This was a fun Christmas romance that I'd recommend if you like the second-chance trope, they both take care of each other, and forced proximity.

    Content warning: mention of past fertility issues, mild innuendo
    Intimacy rating: level 1, non-descriptive kisses only, sharing one couch to sleep
