★★★★★
"With an action-packed narrative, Maggie Kirton delivers a fantasy tale that will have you on the edge of your seat for most of the book. This is epic fantasy at its very best." ~ Readers' Favorite

★★★★★
"Kirton's prose is so easy to read, so beautiful in its simplicity that I simply fell in love with her writing style starting with book one. Some reviewers say her series compares to other masters of this genre. But I assure you, this series does not compare to them and yet it has earned the right to stand among them. The Sagaman Series stands completely in a light of its own, separate from them. It’s a new take on a brutally tested genre." ~ D.K.M., Stanford University, Retired English Lit Professor

"Its emotional storytelling and vibrant world-building blend makes it a notable read, likely to spark discussions and anticipation for future installments. For those drawn to tales of epic battles and deep camaraderie, Maggie Kirton’s work promises a rewarding experience." ~ Literary Titan

"Kirton’s shrewdness and plotting efficiency shine through with a sharp twist toward the end, changing the narrative direction and laying intriguing threads for the next stories while ensuring this book has a contained conclusion." ~ The Book Review Directory

In
This Side of Eternity, the bond between mortals and dragons is both a blessing and a curse. When one dies, the other is doomed to follow—consumed by grief within two moons. It is an unbreakable law of their world, shaping the fate of all who dare to forge such ties.

Kessler, a Mortal-Fae warrior, carries this burden. Bound to Ilona, a mighty dragon, he watches helplessly as
she gives her life to save him on the battlefield. But before her final breath, she leaves him with an impossible task—travel to Dreki Isle, find her unhatched son, and forge a new bond… or perish.

Ilona gave a portion of Kessler's grief to Shai, a war-child, and with him by his side, Kessler races against time through dangerous lands, facing beasts, magic, and enemies who would see them fall. But as Dreki Isle draws near, so does a terrible truth --- a dragon can bond with only one mortal. If Kessler claims this lifeline... Shai will surely die.

Freedom embraces choice, though not all choices are made freely or without regret.

The path to becoming the next Sagaman is stained with blood, burdened by sorrow, and shaped by impossible choices. In
a world that has yearned for peace for generations, one man must face a painful truth—every bond demands a price, and some sacrifices can never be undone.

The fate of
This Side of Eternity hangs in the balance.

Start the Sagaman Series and go on an unforgettable adventure.

"Sagaman Kessler: The Boy Will Fight is a compelling addition to the genre, offering both seasoned enthusiasts and newcomers a fresh take on familiar themes. Its emotional storytelling and vibrant world-building blend makes it a notable read, likely to spark discussions and anticipation for future installments. Some reviewers say her series compares to other masters of this genre. But I assure you, this series does not compare to them and yet it has earned the right to stand among them. "The Boy Will Fight is a multi-layered, involving, and intelligent epic fantasy that provides entertaining and thought-provoking escapism steeped in legend, myth, and magic. Beautifully written and highly accomplished, it promises much for the further Sagaman installments." ~ The Book Review Directory

"The Boy Will Fight instantly impresses as a thoroughly considered and cerebral novel. Kirton takes the reader deep into an immersive world of folklore and legend that evolves and redefines itself in response to its characters' shifting struggles and emotional chaos." ~ The Book Review Directory

★★★★★
Kirton masterfully explores the complexities of sacrifice, loyalty, and the power of choice, leaving me eagerly anticipating the next installment of this gripping tale. Overall, I would not hesitate to recommend Sagaman Kessler: The Boy Will Fight to fans of uniquely penned fantasy fiction everywhere." ~ Readers' Favorite

★★★★★
"Kirton has made it possible to dramatize an endless battle effectively by showing internal conflicts within her characters. You will feel its heart and soul as you read along. I guarantee it." ~ Readers' Favorite

"It's a nicely familiar framework for genre fans. However,Kirton dispenses with complacency by taking this reassuringly epic-fantasy structure and, embroidering within it a deeply human story of profound loss and paralyzing grief. There are fantasy tropes but they are cleverly deployed, and Kirton's prose is writerly with a broad vein of intellectual sophistication. In parts, it has a softly archaic register that perfectly suits the mystical, antediluvian nature of the realm Kirton has created." ~ The Book Review Directory

★★★★★
"We all know the sting of sacrifice for those we care about. The Sagaman Series takes that struggle to epic proportions. It will make you feel and open up your mind to a deeper understanding... that the price we pay to honor our bonds is a fair price. Kirton's flowing narrative easily takes you there without you knowing it. An unforgettable series."

★★★★★
"Just finishing the first book in the series and loving it. A cross between Terry Pratchett like humour and the sweep of Orson Scott Card. Can't wait to get into the second."

From the Author

THE LEGEND OF THE SAGAMAN

Long ago a tale was spun,
Of Sagaman, the Chosen One;
In realms where dragons roam and play,
Peace was lost along the way.

To the Fae he gave the Moonlight Vale,
But battles raged and war prevailed;
Dragons swept the Vale away,
To the Veliki's misty realm to stay.

Until the day arrives, the prophecy states,
A Sagaman returns, as fate dictates;
Who bears the valor to embrace?
And bring back peace, in its rightful place.

A saga deep and rich unfolds,
Of friendships, love, and truths of old;
Sacrifice, the toll it claims,
In the dance where honor reigns.

Now hear the tale of Kessler, he,
A Mortal-Fae of prophecy;
Bound to Ilona, a dragon queen
They roam the skies, a fearless team.

If one should fall, the other grieves,
And meet their end, as legend weaves;
Ilona fell, her life she gave,
For fate's design, his pain she braved.

The tale begins, Ellipsim unfolds,
The Old Oak weeps, his fate foretold;
From mother's arms, a boy is torn,
Into the unknown, his purpose born.

Not all wars are won with steel and might,
Some battles rage in the spirit's light;
Peace to restore, bonds to keep,
Ellipsim's path, its secrets deep.

The stage is set, let's turn the tome,
Of legends old, where dragons roam;
Gather 'round, and listen well,
As the Sagaman's tale casts its spell.

Creative writing has been a passion since the age of three when Maggie had a big red book of Grimm's Fairy Tales. Unable to read at that age, she slept with the book under her pillow with her hand tucked between the pages in the hope that the words would come to her in her sleep.

Maggie Kirton achieved her first bestseller with her award-winning memoir, My Firefly, which sheds light on her personal story of child abuse. Trained in Frontline Intervention, she is dedicated to raising awareness about the lasting impacts of child abuse, sexual assault, and violent crimes.

After eight years, Maggie finally completed her 4-book high fantasy adventure Sagaman Series. Her dream of creating a big red book of her own has come true. Breaking every rule of the genre along the way, she makes no excuses. The Sagaman Kessler series is available on Amazon.

She lives in Canada with her husband and dogs, and is a contented wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoys painting, beading, sewing, working with leather, wood or cement, and gardening. She also spends time helping other authors achieve their dreams.

A true creative, you'll find Maggie in her pajamas, happily working in an 8x8 office with a desk and computer. Her midnight candle still burns bright, with pristine pages waiting to be filled with her unique written sound.

    This book is a compelling start to the Sagaman Series, filled with rich characters, powerful emotions, and an unforgettable world. The characters truly drive the story, and you'll quickly find yourself rooting for them.

    The author beautifully brings Kessler, a soul at war with itself, to life. As a fantasy writer myself, I pay close attention to characterization, and Kirton does not disappoint. Each character is crafted with depth, making it impossible not to care about their journeys.

    The emotional stakes are high, taking you through moments of heartache and triumph. But it’s not all heavy — Kirton expertly weaves in humor, offering moments of lightness alongside the drama. These witty exchanges not only provide comic relief but also add warmth and personality to the narrative.

    The Dragons are an integral part of the narrative, playing a significant role in the story with their wisdom and unique perspectives. Far from being mere background figures, they bring both wisdom and personality to the table, with some of them even adding a touch of humor to the mix, making them unforgettable characters in their own right.

    The setting feels like a world that has existed for centuries, with countless wonders and secrets waiting to be discovered. With the promise of more adventures to come, I can't wait to read the next book in the series! Highly recommended epic fantasy!

    Absolutely a must-read! The first book in the Sagaman Series is filled with unforgettable characters, intense emotions, and a world that feels alive.

    Kessler, a conflicted soul, stands out, and you'll quickly become invested in his and the other characters’ journeys. The emotional highs and lows will keep you hooked, while funny moments provide some lighthearted relief. I enjoyed the dragons which enrich the lore, adding depth and even humor to the story.

    With so many mysteries to uncover, I can’t wait for the next book. This is an epic fantasy for adults you won’t want to miss!

    Kessler’s journey through his grief and his struggle to accept his fate is compelling. The world and characters feel real, full of heart, with intense moments and touching friendships.

    I thoroughly enjoyed this book, even though fantasy isn’t a genre I usually read. The characters are deep and relatable, and the author’s writing is simple yet so vivid that you can feel their struggles as if they were your own. I especially loved the interactions with the dragons. That’s what made this world truly fantastic! They’re wise, and their connection to the characters is so profound that it’s literally a matter of life or death. Kessler and Shai must reach Dreki Isle so Kessler can bond with his dead dragon’s unborn son, or he will die within two moons. Their adventure is much more than a quest—it forces the characters to confront their own feelings. I got emotional in many scenes!

    Thank you for this beautiful book. One of the best I've read in a long time. I'll definitely read the next book in the Sagaman Series. Highly recommended!

    Sagaman Kessler – The Boy Will Fight is a life-or-death journey for Kessler, a Mortal-Fae, who has a bond with Ilona, a dragon, and Shai, a war child. As Ilona dies, she gives Kessler the emptiness of death, which allows Kessler a chance to live if he can reach Ilona's unhatched son and look into the hatchling's eyes as he sheds the egg. His success, however, guarantees Shai's death from the grief given to him by Ilona. The egg is located on Dreki Isle, a faraway island, and the clock is ticking a mortal countdown. The travel is difficult and full of surprises and hardships, but Kessler soon realizes his new bond will result in Shai's death. Destiny will require a difficult choice when and if the pair reach Dreki Isle in time.

    Maggie Kirton is a multi-award-winning author of My Firefly – Walls of the Storm, a true story creatively narrated by the house whose walls witnessed a child (herself) sexually and mentally abused, and the follow-on story, My Firefly – Death of a Hornet, which is the actual journal she kept during her ordeal and later transcribed for publication.

    As demonstrated in these two previous non-fiction books, creativity is a magnificent, obvious, and demonstrable trademark of Maggie Kirton that she delivers in spades with her first fantasy fiction series, Sagaman Kessler. Her sense of epic creative fantasy and skill in writing this fascinating first book in the four-book series rivals the work of the famous masters in this popular, world-building book genre. Sagaman Kessler – The Boy Will Fight is easily comparable to the works of Andrzej Sapkowski's The Witcher and George R.R. Martin's Game of Thrones. However, Kirton further takes her Sagaman Kessler series out of simple commercial fiction into upmarket fiction, a relatively new "genre" that combines beautifully written, literary-style prose with the thrills, imaginative characters, scenes, and pace of a top-notch commercial fiction/epic or high fantasy tale.

    The Boy Will Fight is an outstanding character-driven story as the lead character, Kessler, overcomes various obstacles en route to Dreki Isle. At the same time, his inner self struggles with the certain knowledge that his potentially new lease on life will also be the end of Shai. How Kessler handles the obstacles and the inner struggle, how his character arc develops only Ms. Kirton knows, and it behooves future readers to find out!

    It is an easy task as Maggie Kirton's creativity, literary prose, imaginative scenes, and locales combine for a remarkable high fantasy book and series that, should justice be served, place the Sagaman Kessler series in the top tier of best-selling epic fantasy fiction novels.

    A fantasy full of character. The journey of Kessler and Shai as they fulfil their quest in lands full of strange creatures like the Vergrandi and danger around every corner. Perceptive dragons too, of course, with their metaphysical brand of existence interfacing seamlessly with the ‘human’ characters.
    Into the Boreal, haunted by a wolf and plagued by draconic dreams and Ransaka. A tale of perseverance.
    This novel is full of heart and is a tale well told with deep, well described characterization set within wondrous and mysterious settings. The dialogue is realistic and painted with heavy emotion at times.

    Well known author Maggie Kirton does an excellent job with this entire series. Intricately woven tales of human foibles and other-worldly skills, this series fully engaged me with its sorrows, its joys, and its inescapable truths. I've never seen a writer able to deliver fantasy that fully embraces the realities of our lives today while dragons roamed the skies and the dead could return. I have all three of these easily read and very well-done books and anxiously await the 4th and final installment.
