Soulmancer Legacy (Shattered Galaxies) Kindle Edition
A high-stakes sci-fi thriller of vampire technology, cutthroat politics, and a rogue hero who breaks his one rule: never get involved.
When the hope for humanity’s future lies in ancient vampire technology, how far is too far?
An Amazon Bestseller in Cyberpunk Science Fiction (#1), Space Opera Science Fiction (#3) and Genetic Engineering Science Fiction (#4)
Kelmar Yaksharon, the dying patriarch of a corporate empire, has one final gambit: to dismantle his own dynasty. Faced with Sunward’s plague-ravaged collapse, he vows to reshape Yaksharon Omniphoria from a profit-driven titan into the planet’s lifeline—a governing force to salvage its people. But corporate empires aren’t surrendered quietly, and Kelmar’s plan demands sacrifices even he can’t foresee.
Clara Yaksharon believes she’s fighting to honor her grandfather’s last wish: to save Sunward. As acting head of the most powerful organization in the star system, she battles through the Rite of Imperium Minoris, a brutal legal war where planetary elites aim to shred her family’s corporate sovereignty. What Clara doesn’t know? Kelmar’s salvation hinges on forbidden soul-tech—older than the stars and hungrier than the void.
Piko Zhai, a fugitive soulmancer, is hired to grant Kelmar’s final wish. But when he uncovers a plot to erase Clara, he’s forced to become her invisible protector—haunting Sunward’s underworld to find and stop the killers hunting her. The deeper he digs, the clearer the truth: the consequences of what happens on Sunward will bleed across the galaxy.

About the author

WG Arndt's love for science fiction began in a darkened theater at age seven, where The Empire Strikes Back and The Black Hole taught him that even the coldest galaxies could hold warmth—and that villains could be as haunting as Maximilian's crimson stare. Growing up on science fiction reruns, he dreamed of creaking starships, but it was Vancouver's rain-lashed forests and fog-smothered mountains that shaped his worlds.
Today, WG writes stories where the cosmos feels alive with contradictions: vampires stalk derelict spaceships, ancient rituals persist among futuristic technology, and moss-choked planets mirror the Pacific Northwest's reclaiming of concrete. When not peering at Saturn through his telescope or wandering Vancouver's trails (where lichen whispers secrets), he lives with his wife, kids, the best dog in the galaxy, and the belief that even the darkest souls deserve redemption.
His work explores fragile alliances between outcasts fighting empires… and their own monstrous natures.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tense and compelling Sci-fi - fast read.
Soulmancer is set in the world WG Arndt first shared in his “How to Kill an Intergalactic Vampire in 9 Simple Steps”. Soulmancer expands the galaxy teased in Arndt’s short stories and presents the reader with a deeper look at the cross section of future tech with mysteries of the supernatural. This is not a frivolous cross-genre experiment. A compelling look at the tension between evolving technology, the mystery of the unknown and what it means to be human. All that and engaging characters, corporate takeovers, spies and ghostly assassins. A fun fast read. Looking forward to the next installment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Space Opera that actually brings something new to the table
Soulmancer Legacy is the kind of book you devour in one sitting: easy, fun, but with enough mystery and action to keep you reading. Arndt delivers a space opera with a blend of corporate politics, plague crisis, and vampire technology. The soulmancer character adds a fresh angle to the "dangerous specialist" trope. This isn't "vampires in space" but a thoughtful exploration of how ancient, forbidden technology might be repurposed. If you're tired of space operas that just rehash the same old tropes, this one's worth your time.
