A Stone's Throw: A Scottish, Age-Gap Dark Billionaire Romance (Dark Billionaires Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 710 ratings

I paid to have her once. Now, I’ll risk it all to have her forever.

The first time I saw her, she was an innocent. An untouched beauty offering herself up to the highest bidder.

I told myself I was only bidding to keep her safe. To protect her from men who would shatter her innocence without a second thought.

If I’d had any idea who she was, any idea what defiling her would mean for my future, I might have walked away without ever touching her.

But I didn’t. And now the secrets we’ve kept threaten to unravel both of our lives.

Having her the first time cost me nothing but money. Keeping her… could cost me everything.

Tropes:

💙 Dad’s best friend
🌹 Secret baby
💙 Age gap
🌹 College student heroine
💙 Scottish hero
🌹 Virgin heroine
💙 Highest bidder

Where do I get me a Scottish man like that?
I normally don’t read books with accidental pregnancy trope. That aside I really enjoyed reading this book. Jensen is every woman’s Scottish dream! The book itself was very well written. The story was good and flowed very well. It had a good amount of spice. I definitely would love to read more by this author. 🌹 Age Gap 🌹 Virgin FMC 🌹 Accidental Pregnancy 🌹 Morally Grey MMC 🌹 Billionaire

If you love the age gap, the pregnancy trope, and haven’t read a book by Stevie Sparks, why? A Stone’s Throw has all of these and more! Stevie doesn’t hold back and get’s right to it.

Talia is a 19-year-old college student and is strapped for cash. She learns that there’s this special place where she can sell her that special something. Then we have forty-one-year-old Jensen, who is there and is not letting all the other gross older men have her, so he bids on her instead—to save her. And he “saves” her alright. They have quite the night doing everything together. It’s unprotected because she believes she is infertile due to her medical issues. But all things must come to an end, or do they?

Stevie Sparks adds some angst by inserting the secret pregnancy trope, a meddling OM and supposed best friend of Talia, and a second chance of love between Jensen and her. The story is full of steam and heroic, protective moments by Jensen. It's a winning read.

I loved this story for many reasons. First being, that while our heroine, Talia , is young she isn’t stupid. She’s originally in America pursuing a degree using scholarships, but when her grades are failing and she knows she will lose it she has two options. She can ask her father for the money, which he has, or she can find a way to get it herself. Through listening to some students on campus she finds a young man that works at an adult club and asks him questions about the business. She later decides that she’s going to make a profit off her virginity so she can pay off her tuition and continue school. Jensen on the other hand is in the states for business. He goes to the club with a friend, and sees men bidding on Talia, but a deep sense within him forces him to bid until he wins her. He initially has no plans on sleeping with her, but things happen. Fast forward a bit, Talia finds out she’s pregnant, and makes the mature decision to return home so her father and sister can help her out because she’s under the impression that Jensen, who she knows as Jay, isn’t interested in her. They later reconnect during her father’s wedding, and Jensen/ Jay does everything he can to prove to Talia he wants to be there for her and his child.

I loved that Jensen, though not the most innocent of MMC, instantly steps up to the plate with Talia and doesn’t let her persuade him to leave them alone. He gives great daddy vibes in all ways throughout the story, and I loved where he’s described as a protector. I enjoyed the dynamic between Jensen and Talia, how they communicated and navigated everything due to the age gap and distance it potentially could have caused in her family.

Ultimately, I enjoyed every sentence in this book, and have to now go read the rest of Stevie Sparks books.

Okay I liked this book. Jensen is a older mmc, Scottish, ex convict, current successful businessman, protective and sexy.

Talia I felt still seemed like a pretend grown up. Yes she had a baby on her own, but did what she said not she would do. Depend on her dad, friends and family after all. She could have avoided the whole virginity sale by asking her dad to start.

    Enough ranting, the good parts...

Jensen is an adorable dad. Baby lessons, awesome!!!

Their physical dynamic was steamy stewy hot. HOT!

The villian was a really bad ass villian.

    Overall a decent read.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

    Talia
She struggles with payments at college and overhears a way out that is not conventional. 😲 Who knew the handsome guy who was going to help her , was going to be old enough to be her father and her Dad's Bestfriend.😜

    Jay (Jensen)
He may be old enough to be her father , though Jay needs her. He was going to be a gentleman and leave her with the money when she extended an invitation. 😉 To bad he doesn't really know who he getting into bed with.

    My thoughts
The story has a nice balance of plot and character development. There are very spicy seems with a very inexperienced FMC😉 I absolutely adored Jay and how strong of a Daddy vibe he gave off and don't even get me started on "Baby Girl" and praise like you can't believe. For what transpired and what Talia went through alone she was very strong.

    The Ending
Will have you screaming and the plot twist and turn of events will also have you swooning more and more for Jay🥰

I will never look at a foot rest the same😜

This book had lots of drama and heart. There was everything from age gap (20 years), auction, ex convict, second chance, dad’s best friend, baby, etc… Stevie Sparks managed to pack so much into this book!

It was an enjoyable ride. So much passion and intrigue. I felt a little sideswiped by Quinn. His arc didn’t fully leave me satisfied as far as understanding goes, but maybe that’s just close to real life.

I loved the chemistry between Talia and Jensen. Their family unit was so adorable and I always love to see a dad want to be a husband and father.

Wow this one was fully loaded!! I am definitely going to have to check out the rest of her books but I do wish the MMC had a Scottish accent written into his dialogue since it’s advertised as a Scottish hero

When I started it I was concerned about the direction it was going… to be fair, I have been on a very D.A.R.K road recently 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️😉 and selling your V card?!

This was such a sweet story, I enjoyed it so much. I did wish there was a little more interaction between the h and her family seeing as she was SO close, but it worked, I guess.

I read this so quickly intrigued from the beginning. So good to see British English with only one mistake. We say ‘dived’ and never dove. That’s a bird!
