He loves the sweet life

Greg Hutchins is reluctantly adulting these days. He’s settled in his job, recently bought his first house, and has a network of friends he can call family. But there’s something missing in his life, and he can’t quite put his finger on it. When he’s assigned to a case that involves investigating a biochemical company, he meets a woman who’s sweeter than any candy. Maybe she’s just the thing to make him feel complete.

She’s ready for the future

Noelle LaVigne has faced plenty of tragedy in her life, but she’s on the right path now. Between her new job and settling into a new city, she’s got no time for dating or relationships. She’s worked hard to get where she is, and no man is going to push her off track. Except the minute Hutch crosses her path she can’t seem to think about anything but the handsome security expert. He’s there to find a corporate spy, but late-night work sessions make her think they’ve both found something much more meaningful.

A twist they never saw coming

When the case becomes dangerous, both of their futures are on the line. And when the bullets start flying, they will have to learn to trust in each other if they hope to survive.

Good Book!
Noelle LaVigne was introduced in the Bayou series as the daughter of one of the main characters, she was confined to a wheelchair when we first met her but has come a long way since then. She’s been through so much and has remained resilient and strong. She’s also kind and a sweetheart.I really enjoyed getting to see this side of her. And seeing how much she’s grown since we first met her.Hutch has been around for a long time and we’ve all enjoyed him as a secondary character but this was his time to shine and I really wanted to see that for him.Hutch has always been the candy loving tech guy. He’s smart, tech savvy and loyal. He’s become a part of the McKay-Taggart family that we love so much.Hutch has been through a lot too in the past which we were there to witness. Since this book take place after the time jump in Lexi Blakes book.So the characters are older and more mature.Hutch and Noelle get off to a rocky start, which Hutch doesn't mean to happen but it does. But he proves that he can take her case seriously and help her out.Noelle is a baker on her own free time and Hutch has always had a sweet tooth, so of course they're kind of perfect for each other. So even though Noelle has a disability, Hutch treats her like he would treat anyone else which is so refreshing. He respected her and saw her as a woman.I was happy to see Hutch get his happily ever after, with Noelle.WOULD I RECOMMEND:Yes! I would recommend this book, but then again I would recommend anyone of Lexi Blake's books. She is one of my favorite authors.I like reading about Hutch and Noelle and how they find happiness with each other. I really enjoyed how they took the chance and allowed each other in.They both have tragic pasts which could have prevented them from being together, but they didn’t let it stop them.

The time has happened and we start with Hutch. His candy loving computer nerd is as sweet as he always was, if you don’t dig too deep. Hutch has his own demons though, and now in his 30s, he wants to deal with everything that is holding him back from having the kind of relationship he sees around him and McKay-Taggert everyday. He is no longer the guy just looking for a “good time” he is a strong, smart, and drop dead gorgeous Dom, wanting to take of the right woman, if she ever comes along. Well, she definitely comes along, and her name is Noelle. We met Noelle LaVigne previously in Papillion, LA. She is the daughter of Sheriff Armie and stepdaughter of Lila, and last time we saw her she was a teenager, learning to walk again after a horrific car accident.

Noelle is extremely intelligent, so much so that she is working at a lucrative scientific that seems to have something shady going on behind the scenes. Noelle and Hutche get off on the wrong food, but both cannot deny they have a chemistry that can’t be faked, or ignored! Noelle is not only getting assistance from the MT crew for her dangerous situation at work, she is also going to be joining their D/S training class. She is ready to explore a side of herself she wasn’t sure was really there. As she and Hutch become closer and more entangled in one another, they both begin to discover that they could be the perfect match...though Noelle needs a bit more convincing than Hutch.

We also get our introduction to Kyle Hawthorne, son of Grace and stepson of Sean Taggert. He is dark, broody, and insanely good looking, but genus hiding something, and Hutch begins the path of discovering exactly what it is, as they work together to help Noelle. Kyle’s story arc will confine for awhile and I for one cannot wait to see how it revolves!

The tidbits of what is to come as this “time jump” continues are exciting for those who have follow The MT crew from the beginning! The next generation are all young adults or teens! They will be getting their own stories soon enough!

As expected, Ms Blake gives us an amazing cast of characters, combining new with old. The glimpse at these older, and even more complicated, characters we have previously known is done seamlessly and gives readers what we crave, to know “what happens next!” I look forward to continuing into this next generation of Masters and Mercenaries stories with many more books full of suspense, action, passion, love and of course, sarcasm!

If you've read Lexi Blake's Bayou series and liked it, but wondered how all the Daileys suddenly seem to have forgotten all the time they spent hanging out at Sanctum, then this book is for you. If you wondered what happened to Noel Lavigne when she grew up, then this book is for you.

I enjoy both the M&M series and the Bayou series and found this book to tell a page-turning story. If you like Lexi Blake, you'll love this book, and if you're new to her work and enjoy steamy romance with a dollop of suspense and intrigued, you'll love this book. Though you can enjoy this book without having read the series, it helps to know the context of the (in)famous McKay-Taggart security firm. And if you already know and love them, you'll enjoy getting to visit old friends like Ian.

This is the story of Hutch & Noelle. Hutch works at a big security agency heading the cybersecurity unit. Noelle works in a scientific lab at the head of a test team. Strange things have been happening in the lab lately, and she needs protection. Hutch is the computer expert, so a bodyguard will be going along, too. Hutch and Noelle didn’t get off to a good start. This book is full of action. It goes into each facet of solving this case and the suspense that goes along with it. There is training involved in being a sub, and explanations and expectations of doing so. There are trust issues with certain characters, and there is full trust with others. There is also attraction, steam and love. Although this book left me with one question, I hope I’ll find it in the books to follow. This is a regular length book with substantial chapters. I thoroughly enjoy a good long book.

What can I say other than this author just gets better and better!

This is book 1 of a new series, Masters and Mercenaries, Reloaded, however, it could well be book 22? (I may have miscounted) of the original series.

The series has moved forward a few years from where the original M&T started, so we’re seeing Ian Taggart in his 50’s with teenage kids (hilarious!) Alex, Eve, The Taggart’s and all the characters we’ve fallen in love with over the years are still active, working hard and playing harder, but in this series we are being introduced to a younger generation, we’ve seen quite a few appear in previous books, especially our Hero of Submission Impossible Greg ‘Hutch’ Hutchins.

This is a fantastic romantic suspense story with elements of BDSM, the connection between Hutch and Noelle is beautiful to see develop throughout the book, what they’ve both been through so far in their lives makes them vulnerable at times (Good Lord! Ian as a father figure to Hutch gave me all the feels!)
The storyline reminded me of the earlier books within the original series, the suspense kept me on the edge, some secondary characters have storylines developing (I’m already attached to Kyle and MaeBe!!😍 I’ve got to trust the author to look after them in-between books 😁)

The sarcasm we’ve come to love and adore is on point (Ian is usually somewhere in or around those scenes lol) Charlie is back being a matchmaker and also taking Ian to Church Holy Moly! 🥰😍🔥 and Adam Miles is being pranked ahhhh it’s just like the good old days ❤️😍 I LOVED IT!!!

Highly Recommended if you adore protective alpha heroes with hearts of gold, strong heroines who can make their men fall hard, sensual, hot romance, edge of seat suspense and plenty of laugh out loud moments. Perfect👌🏼

There is enough science to make this intriguing, plenty of action, fun and entertainment from Big Tag , red herrings, goodies and baddies. Oh yes and the Consortium raises it’s ugly head again. Not to mention kinky romance, what’s not to love?
