The Suicide Flowers Book Two: Roots Kindle Edition

4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars 5 ratings

Set against the backdrop of the early 1990’s Boston music scene, “The Suicide Flowers Book Two: Roots” delves into the profound impact of music, family, and personal aspirations on teens Raeburn and Gabriel. Though their relationships with music differ, both share a common yearning for emotional understanding and validation. Raeburn finds unwavering support and guidance from his mother, who serves as his primary role model, whereas Gabriel grapples with a frequently absent father and a stepmother battling early onset dementia.

With a laser focus, Raeburn relentlessly pursues his dream of rock ‘n’ roll stardom with his band, Aluminum Jesus, while Gabriel seeks solace in music as a devoted fan, following the fledgling band’s ascent to fame. Their divergent paths eventually intersect, revealing shared struggles and long-hidden secrets that threaten to disrupt their journeys.

In this compelling coming-of-age tale, “The Suicide Flowers Book Two: Roots” intricately weaves themes of identity, family
dysfunction, and the pursuit of dreams against the odds, offering a gripping exploration of youth and music.

Pete Conrad was born in Haverhill, Massachusetts and now resides in the small yet spectacular New Hampshire seacoast area (it's the shortest coastline of any state, at just 18 miles!). A lifelong learner, Pete holds a degree in English, Literature and Cultural Studies from the University of South Florida. He is also an avid bass guitar enthusiast, and is the bassist for the Thursday Afternoon Band.

Pete has written screenplays for each of his novels, and he is working to bring them to life on the big screen. A short film version of "The Suicide Flowers" made the rounds on the film festival circuit, sparking the interest of well-known filmmakers. He has just completed his latest novel, a prequel to The Suicide Flowers. When asked what makes his writing stand out, Pete states simply, "My work is plausible, my research is impeccable, and my stories will make you feel."
