The Surprise Seduction: An Age Gap Accidental Pregnancy Small Town Romance (Landry Love Series Book 5) Kindle Edition
I don't break the rules. And falling for my little sister’s best friend would definitely be breaking the rules. Getting her pregnant was downright irresponsible.
GARRETT
Aria is young. Too young.
My little sister’s best friend is off-limits and always has been. Even if she wasn’t, the painfully beautiful woman is a shameless flirt—a free-spirited whirlwind of emotions. She shouldn’t appeal to me in the least.
I’m looking to settle down and am desperate enough to allow our town's most meddlesome residents to set me up. Aria Davenport isn’t on their list of suitable options, I made sure of that.
Beyond our age difference and her relationship with my sister, the woman is my polar opposite.
But for one night, I give into temptation and let my need for her take over.
After years of secretly pining for Garrett Caldwell—the grumpy and elusive hot town doctor—he finally looks my way.
Maybe it was only once, and maybe that was exactly what we agreed to, but that one scorching night ties us together for the rest of our lives.
An unexpected pregnancy changes everything and certainly has this small town talking.
Suddenly he claims to want more and I can’t keep the doubt from creeping in. Because building a relationship based on feelings of responsibility and obligation would break me.
So I guard my heart against the one man who has the power to destroy it.

About the author

Amy Alves writes spicy small town romance that will make you laugh and swoon. In all of her books, you'll find heat, humor, witty banter, and a happily-ever-after. She loves creating charming, nosy small towns where unsuspecting heroes fall hard for strong, quirky heroines.
When Amy is not reading or writing the steamy books her heart craves, she is usually hanging out at home with her incredible hubby and two crazy cute kids. She'll likely be wearing fuzzy socks, sipping wine, devouring sushi, watching Gilmore Girls, and completely avoiding her laundry pile.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 13, 2023Format: KindleVerified PurchaseIt's official... Garrett and Aria are my favorite weirdos.
There's something so ridiculously appealing about the socially inept hero. I'm not even sure I'm describing Garrett right. He's this extremely rational guy. So rational, in fact, that emotions seem alien. It's always just about the logical thing with him. While I know this possibly sounds off-putting, Ms. Alves has written him in such a naturally comical way that you can't help but completely fall for him.
Aria, on the other hand, is this seductive and challenging little pistol. Yup, that's the word I'm using because I can't find a more correct one to capture her spirit.
Throw them together, and you end up with a hilarious - while often awkward - couple. So far in the Landry Love series, only Emma beats these two characters when it comes to 'weird'. And yes, I'm talking about the kind of weird we all absolutely love because, every time I read this, I can't help but smile and giggle all the way through it. The humor always present is one of the reasons I adore Ms. Alves's books so much.
POV: Dual, 1st person, present tense.
Tropes: Age gap, best friend's brother, accidental pregnancy.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 3, 2022Format: PaperbackThe Surprise Seduction is book five in the Landry Love series by Amy Alves. I have read the others in this series and was looking forward to learning more about our mysterious, broody hero, Garrett Caldwell. If you haven’t read the previous books, you can easily jump in here, or start at the beginning with The Experiment, where we meet Jesse Caldwell when he is house sitting for his older brother, Garrett, while he’s oversees participating in Doctors Without Borders.
Aria Davenport has been best friends with Chloe Caldwell who found love in book four, The Love Words, and basically grew up with their family. Aria has been openly crushing on Garrett since her teens. He’s about nine years older and never looked at Aria as anything other than an annoyance, but now that he is back in town and she’s all grown up, he can’t fight his attraction for her any longer.
The Surprise Seduction follows Garrett and Aria in this opposites-attract, age-gap, off-limits, romance that is filled with lots of tension, laughs, tears, and joy. Garrett is a tall, dark and handsome, straight-laced, orderly, rule-following family doctor with a plan how to find the perfect mate. Aria is a beautiful, flirty, free-spirited, talented photographer coming into her own as she has paternal abandonment issues and reflects on her past relationships that all ended with her being hurt.
The overview states that their first night of passion results in a pregnancy, and I felt for Aria so much. After all these years, why does he want her now? Is it out of obligation or because he loves her? The author does a wonderful job with the character development and build-up, and tastefully explains their relationship and how they fell in love.
I do believe we are all products of our past, and although I felt Aria was crass and inappropriate at times, she was really just covering up her own insecurities while trying to get his attention. I admire her inner strength and knowing what she wanted and felt she deserved. Aria was always honest and true to herself with no filter, which made her endearing.
Even though Garrett struggled with the right words, he was so humble and sweet, and showed her how he felt every single day with his acts of kindness and protective nature. I swooned on many pages like when he offered his home, hired her in his medical office, went shopping for baby items and assembled the crib, cooked and cleaned, supported her dreams of opening up her own photography studio, etc. Although she seemed appreciative, respected his career, and wanted to work and earn her own money, I would have found her more likable if she made an effort to reciprocate and ate healthier knowing it was important to him and their unborn child.
Regardless of these few quirks, I was totally invested in their relationship, and found them very relatable. This book has all the feels including lots of super hot steamy scenes as Garrett and Aria had undeniable chemistry, and I routed for them from the beginning.
I love all the interconnected family members and friends, even the crazy, nosey townsfolk who often appear. I do feel this book was a bit long and repetitive in spots, such as how Aria kept repeating her feelings about wanting to be loved.
I liked that they had to fight for their HEA, could admit when they were wrong and talk things through, and reached out to others to help them see the truth, which is that they were meant to be together. Loved the surprise ending and set-up for the final book in this series which I will definitely be reading.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 9, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchaseAbsolutely loved the story about Doc Garrett and his little sister's best friend Aria. Aria has had a crush on Garrett since she was a teen and was always pushing his buttons. She would make him feel downright uncomfortable with some of her comments.
Now 10 years later, Aria has moved back to town. She's now 27 years old and looking to start a new life. When Chloe, her best friend offers her a job at Garrett's clinic, she agrees and begins her flirting with the town Doctor, Garrett.
Garrett is shocked that his sister Chloe would just hire Aria without telling him first. He's ready to fire Aria before she is even started. But Chloe talks him out of it. Things get really uncomfortable for Garrett the more Aria flirts with him and he finally makes his move.
They agree being together that one time was a mistake, then Aria finds out she's pregnant. Can these two finally make things work out? Can Aria settle for a man she doesn't feel loves her the way she needs to be loved? Can Garrett finally open up about his feelings for Aria?
Great book. Absolutely love this series. So ready to read Sean's story next! Enjoy

5.0 out of 5 stars When grump meets sunshine in this delicious age gap romance!
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI should have known that Garrett Caldwell would replace Taylor Shaw as my favourite Landry hero, but I ignored all the signs. Since we met him briefly in The Experiment, I have been lowkey obsessed with finding out more about this handsome doctor. And when Amy announced The Surprise Seduction, I was salivating at the thought of an age gap and a sibling’s best friend romance that featured everyone’s favourite doctor. I didn’t know what I was getting myself into with this book, but I’d like to say that I am wholly and completely unprepared to write this review, because this book did so much for me, I am speechless. However, I will do my best to articulate my feelings. 😂
Aria Davenport has spent a good portion of her life crushing on Garrett Caldwell and doing whatever it takes to make him squirm when she’s around. As the older brother of her best friend, Garrett is everything Aria knows she wants in a man. Even though Chloe (you’ll recognise her from The Love Words) isn’t stopping them from being together, Aria knows she can’t cross that line. But when everything in her life is spinning out of control and she needs somewhere to land, Aria returns to Landry to make sense of her life and that includes finding a job while trying to rebuild her photography business. And it just so happens that the one place that’s got a vacancy to hire her is the clinic Garrett owns and runs. For Garrett, romance is complicated. He’s not a fan of the casual thing and he’s looking for the perfect woman—yes, he’s got a list of what he’s looking for in a partner—but when the dates the League sets him on start to get tiresome and monotonous, he’s ready to give up. Just as Aria returns to town and starts popping everywhere he is and now Garrett can’t avoid the signs. Being around this tempting woman is taking a lot out of him, but he can’t walk away. Not matter how much of a bad idea he knows it is, Garrett can’t take his eyes off of Aria.
My obsession with Garrett Caldwell is well founded. The man is stoic and gruff, he’s a little grumpy and very particular. He doesn’t have patience for most people and those closest to him understand the way he works. He’s also incredibly sexy and half the single women in Landry want a piece of him, but Garrett is not interested in anyone that way. Well….except for Aria, obviously. I loved how fiercely he loved his family and looked out for them, and how he was quick to take responsibility where it was needed, stepping up to the plate every single time. I really liked the way Amy wrote him—smart and intelligent as a doctor, but not so much in matters of the heart—because he felt like someone you might know in real life. After having met and read about Jess and Chloe, to see this completely different Caldwell was refreshing. I love this family so much, guys! Aria is an absolute treat. I don’t think I have enough words that can express just how amazing she is. She’s feisty and sassy, she is sunshine personified. Aria’s also really strong and independent, pushing herself to be more and do more, to experience more and have fun. For Aria, life is not just about doing everything on a checklist, she wants to live her best life while doing all the things that are laid out in front of her. I admired that about her. Plus, she brought some much needed excitement and joy into Garrett’s life and who can pretend like that wasn’t what we all wanted?
Their relationship is insanely hot. All that sexual tension and that constant desire and lust for each other has to go somewhere, right? Garrett is a tightly wound man and the minute Aria gives him even an inch, he takes it all and I loved how he came unravelled. Their friendship helps build on their relationship and I seriously enjoyed every minute of how they made it work. I mean, the number of times Garrett denies he wants Aria would make you want to smack him, but boy, when the man finally realises that he needs her, things get really interesting. I think this might be the hottest of the five books—and I thought Taylor and Lauren were on fire!—and Amy does such a good job of painting the perfect steamy picture of these two. Garrett’s dirty talk was A+ too, so definitely look out for that!
I was heavily invested in their relationship and watching them learn about each other as time goes by. I like that even though Garrett approached it all wrong at first, he turned to the right people to get help and really make something happen with Aria. He was so supportive and positive when it came to Aria and what she wanted, in terms of her career and otherwise, and I loved that he was always willing to learn and accept his mistakes and grow from that. Aria was the heart of this relationship and I loved the way she gave into Garrett wholly and how by doing that, she put herself out there so much. Their relationship isn’t easy and it’s not as cut and dry as the others in the series, but I think that’s what I loved about it so much—it’s not perfect, they make tons of mistakes, but they both learn and grow from it together.
I’m sad that there’s only ONE more book in the Landry Love series, because I have loved watching these small town folk find happiness. But I’m really excited to see what else Amy Alves has coming!

5.0 out of 5 stars Just Fantastic!!
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseWow . What can I say . I have loved this entire series so far and this one definitely doesn't dissapount .I just love A story where the sexual tension is there from the start !
Finally seeing more of Garrett and his journey along with Aria is great . I love the difference in they're story compared to the others , and this book really does use jts tropes to play to that . The age gap is comical without feeling indecent , something I've personally struggled with when reading others in this genre . But they're playfulness and banter is enough to make anyone fall in love with they're relationship .
I honestly think this is one of the best books in this series particularly with the steamy scenes 👌
Just Fantastic !

5.0 out of 5 stars beautiful story
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseBeautiful story although the male character needs to have told her that he loves her sooner instead of making her wait but in saying it would have been great to have seen him at the start like literally dying inside at the thought of not being with her as it would have made their love story a touch more beautiful. This love story is adorable and the leads are super duper cute
