CAPTIVATING Dark Cowboy Romance!
I am so glad Karley Brenna took the plunge into the darker side of romance. I devoured Swallow Your Fear. I love a good cowboy book but add a revenge plot and I can’t get enough. This might be a novella but the twists, spice and the plot hit just right in it. I loved Booker and Brynne’s dynamic and the chemistry between them. Brynne was supposed to be a means to an end but that pesky chemistry got in the way and from that came some great spice with fabulous kinks like breath play and primal play. And the sharing scenes 😮‍💨 it was so hot how they shared her during those scenes. The mask isn’t at all times used to amp up the spice but during those scenes it works for them. I mean a masked cowboy with primal play it’s just as good as it sounds. I’m still so entertained days later with how Booker thought things would go and how they actually went because he wasn’t anticipating the sass that came out of Brynne. It made for some great banter. Booker had a plan to get Henley, Austin and him out of a situation and Brynne was so much more than they expected and once she came to the ranch the plan started to pivot.     Karley knows how to write a cowboy romance…doesn’t matter if it’s dark or not!

    This one was so fun. The mask, the cowboys, the ranch, the danger, the morally grey man. It was all here and all well done.

    Booker and Brynne were a fun couple. It started out as a threat and maybe a good time and turned in to so much more.

    Booker and his boys are family by choice. They take care of each other no matter what.
    Brynne has been dragged into a situation by and ex more than once and rescued by Booker in his own way.

    These two fight and come together in the best way. The flirting and the deviousness of these two was a fun time.

    This was a great book and I’m hoping there will be two more for the other masked men.

    Brynne was dating the wrong guy and his actions where going to cause more trouble for her. Booker seemed to be a cause of some of the issues but the true cause was CHASE, gag.

    I’m glad that Brynne and Booker were endgame. As hot as the sharing scenes were, Brynne and Booker complimented each other so well and Austin & Henley deserve their own HEAs.

    There was so much anticipation waiting for retaliation but the book didn’t drag.

    I loved the spur play. Brynne was sassy, strong and stood on business.

    This was my first dark cowboy romance and it won’t be my last!

    Let me preface this by saying it was a cute romance, however, when I see dark romance I expected it to be darker like the quiet cowboy mafia/motorcycle gang dark. Where there’s more happening in the story. It’s obvious in this book there’s been darkness larking in the MMC before the FMC came into his life (it was mentioned). It was a great book!!! However I just expected more!

    If you enjoy a dark romance where the girl doesn't put up much of a fight (internally or externally) then this is the book for you! In the end I really enjoyed the MMC, but our FMC didn't make him work very hard for it so the tension just wasn't as high as I would have liked, lol. The actual plot and motivations of the characters were pretty good, and the spice was very fun and varied ;)

    She’s done it again ladies and gentlemen, she is one of the authors that I will instantly buy and read for a reason.

    I inhaled this one I read it in two sittings and could’ve easily done it in one, if life hadn’t of got in the way.

    It is a shorter novel, so there’s a little bit of instant attraction, I wouldn’t necessarily call it insta love though. As there was definitely tension and some angst between the two, but definitely instant attraction and spice.

    It’s a dark cowboy romance with a revenge plot, I haven’t read anything like this one before and it didn’t disappoint.

    Let’s be honest we read cowboy romances because they are wholesome, they generally are about loyal, family men, with a sweet side hidden away that they only show to their girl. Booker does not fill that bill he is rough, can be scary, and can certainly take care of business. He does have a protective streak though.

    Brynne is a strong female character and there is no shyness to her and she can hold her own. She just got herself thrown into a situation she couldn’t control. However she did not crumble in that situation. She is unapologetically her, and her sassy nature is everything.

    There was no slow burn to this and some of the spice scenes came out of nowhere, which is the only reason I’m giving this 4 stars instead of 5. The spice was just giving a little too free for my personal taste, I would’ve loved the spice scenes to have more purpose.
    Being a shorter book the fast pace is expected, however I would’ve loved some of the spice scenes to be replaced with a little more banter between the two, to see the connection grow a little more. That would be my only criticism with this one.

    However this one was so different to anything I’ve ever read, and I thoroughly enjoyed it because I didn’t know how it was going to unfold.

    Swallow Your Fear was my first book by @authorkarleybrenna, and my gosh, it was HOT🔥🔥 I love me a good cowboy/rancher romance, and having masked cowboys, well that just took it to a whole other level. I devoured this book in a matter of hours and could not put it down.

    Booker was such a great MMC with literal touch her and die vibes, and so creative. Brynne, the FMC, was ballsy AF and knew what she wanted and wasn't afraid to ask. The secondary characters were also very integral to this story in more ways than one 😈😈

    Oh boy, don't get me started on the haunted house scene because Karley knocked it out of the park.

    Swallow Your Fear may seem like “just a title” but as the story progresses, it winds up having a deeper purpose. IYKYK
