Sweet Collide: A Hockey Romance (Saints Of Redville) Kindle Edition

4.1 4.1 out of 5 stars 6,310 ratings

From USA Today bestselling author Ava Harrison comes a new standalone hockey romance.

Aiden Slate.
Pro hockey star. Captain of the Redville Saints. And the bane of my existence.

All it takes is a little liquid courage to storm his castle.
Or, in this case, a cushy five-star hotel suite.

I’m supposed to give him a piece of my mind.
To unleash a decade of pent-up anger.

What I’m not supposed to do is sign an NDA meant for another woman.

He thinks I’m here to relieve his stress.
Well, he’s in for a rude awakening.

Problem #1? The boy I grew up with doesn’t remember me.
Problem #2? I fall to my knees at his command. Literally.

Next thing I know, I agree to be his fake girlfriend.
He doesn't realize I’m the girl he left behind ten years ago.
The last thing I'll do is admit it.

Because Aiden might have abandoned me all those years ago.
But me? I’ll forever be his.

They have a history, and only she realizes it.
Growing up in a trailer park with less than loving parents, Pip and Slate created a friendship like no other. They depended on each other, and when it was time for Slate to finally get out, he almost didn't make it without her help.Fast forward, Cassidy (Pip) has grown up, moved away and taken on a new name to completely leave all ties to that life behind, but is down on her luck, staying on a friends couch and doing her best to get by. She knows Slate made it, he's in the NHL, top of the league and so successful, but so much time as passed. Does he still think about Pip from their childhood together?Cassidy watches Slate on TV while he's playing in her town and decides she just needs to see him once, she needs to know if he is the same friend from the trailer park she knew and cared for.He didn't even recognize her, and with an NDA shoved in her face, she doesn't know what to do except keep up the charade.Except, she knows him. She remembers every aspect of him and his quirks, what sets him at ease in high stress moments and he CANNOT figure out how she does it. He offers her an assistant job to help him through the rest of the season. As the season progresses, Cassidy is helping Slate in more ways than he can even expect and he's never had someone KNOW him this way since... but there's no way. When will the truth catch up with Cassidy? Will it be as bad as she expects? Will he ever trust her again?I absolutely loved Slate and Cassidy's story, how they both grew up in less than ideal situations and helped each other along the way.I had never read a story with a character like Slate, and the way the author told his story was absolutely amazing and so easy to empathize with as he went about daily life best he could.Second chance, childhood friends to lovers gets me every time, and so does fake dating. Add in the rich hockey player, and childhood trauma they went through together and apart- I was hooked and couldn't put this one down. The way these two dealt with their trauma and wanted to give back in a way to help kids like they were... just amazing. The spice was great, the characters were fantastic and relatable, the story had an incredible flow and the ending totally took me by surprise...4/5 stars3/5 chilis

Sweet Collide is a fantastic blend of second-chance romance and fake-dating fun, with just the right amount of spice and emotional depth. Aiden Slate, the brooding hockey captain, and the fiery heroine share a complicated history that creates plenty of tension and chemistry from the start.

The premise is both amusing and heartfelt—confronting your childhood crush, only for him not to recognize you, and then ending up as his fake girlfriend? Cue the drama, banter, and unexpected feelings! Aiden’s gradual realization of who she is, paired with the heroine’s struggle to guard her heart, made for a satisfying emotional journey.

The hockey backdrop added an exciting layer, and the story expertly balanced humor, swoon-worthy moments, and the lingering pain of their past. Aiden is a compelling hero, flawed but ultimately lovable, while the heroine’s strength and vulnerability make her easy to root for.

If you love fake-dating, second-chance romances with a hockey twist and plenty of heat, Sweet Collide is a must-read. Ava Harrison delivers a page-turner that will leave you smiling!

This book was so so sweet, and I enjoyed the ride of Pip and Slate to them becoming Cass and Aiden. I loved the other players as well and I could tell it was trying to give us a glimpse of some of their life too, I wish there was a little more involvement with that but it was a great great book and can’t wait to read the next!

This book was so good! I love a broken character who succeeds in his career and gives back to kids like him. Aidan was this character. He grew up in a horrible environment, getting verbally abused by his mom everyday and getting told he's worthless. He had one shining light, his best friend Pippa. She had equal of similar situation as him. They grew up together, helping each other forget about their problems and when the time came for Aidan to chase his dreams, Pippa gave him the help to make it happen. Fast forward to the present, He's made a name for himself in Hockey but he keeps a lot of his life in secret. He has quirks and likes to have certain things for him on game day. When he gets to wound up, his agent suggests he lets off some steam. Enter Cassidy
Pippa aka Cassidy, is a strong woman, who has some pain and secrets of her own. She has moved away but the past is still over her head. Taking a chance to see Aidan changes her life for the good. She gets to see him in a different light and helps him cope with the quirks he has. She's the calm he's been searching for.
This book has some very sweet moments in it and has some healing these two characters desperately need. The author handles the abuse and quirks with care and brings forth real characters that you feel their pain and rejoice with them when they pass a hurdle. I was so hooked on this book and need more!!!

Wow this was way more intense than I realized. I thought I was heading into my stereotypical feel good fluffy hockey romance but this book hit me right in the feels!
Pippa/Cassidy was such a gentle soul willing to give and give until there was nothing else.
Aiden/Slate was a guy craving success while running from his past, Pippa unfortunately included.
The mystery oh who Cassidy was had me DYING to get to the reveal for Aiden and everytime I thought they were catching a break, WRONG!
This emotional rollercoaster was so worth it though for the HEA. Cant wait to start book 2!

This is an easy to read, fast paced hockey romance that will grab your attention quickly and give you the HEA you’re hoping for!

There’s spice, a sweet childhood friends to strangers and also second chance story line that has you rooting for them and written in a way that has you trying to figure out what happened that caused them drift apart when they were young.

Some parts of it were a predictable but sometimes that’s what you need in a romance book!

    Would I recommend? Yes!

Cute Hockey Romance with some drama/trauma but not so much that you feel drained by the time you reach the HEA.

I started this book when I went to bed and I finished it the next day, after reading all through the night, not getting a wink of sleep. This was the first book I have read by this author, and I will definitely be buying the next in this series, and I can't wait to find out who it will be about. After reading a bio of this book on another author's newsletter, I was intrigued, and I have to say the story kept my interest throughout - hence the lack of sleep. I loved both of the main characters and the way they helped each other, especially as children in terrible situations. My heart broke for Cass/Pip as a child and when she first sees Aiden again. She is such a strong and selfless character, and was a joy to read. Aiden was also a great character, whilst struggling with his anxieties and compulsions, and in spite of his upbringing, was a beautiful boy and man. I really enjoyed this book, the story and characters were great, the spice was good, whilst not overdone, it was in the appropriate places, and didn't need more as the story was solid enough without needing more. I'm looking forward to reading more books with the secondary characters in the future, especially Dane, and hopefully his sister Molly (maybe with Hudson 😉). Whilst I highly recommend this book, I don't recommend forgoing a whole night's sleep (I'm too old for that, although I'll probably do it again).

My gosh this book was such a good read. I know it's based off her life experiences and I'm so sorry their author went through what she did...

The woritng was great to read, and the pace of this novel was wonderful. I'll also say the topics at hand were done beautifully and as someone who has some... obsessions I loved the way she wrote both characters the person going through then and there pov (Slate) as well as the person helping him (Cass) just a really fantastic read and I definitely rooted for both of these characters for not only themselves but eachother as well!

This was a fab read, the blurb caught my attention and I enjoyed this. Angsty in parts and love the tropes too. Had an unrequited love and the one who got away feel to it. Aiden and Cass were both likeable characters and I loved their journey together to find love and acceptance.
