    This book was a slow burn romance for me. But it was well worth it! If you've read "Takeover" then you got the first look at Colt's interest in Victoria. Victoria had a policy of never dating a athlete, a man with children and she was all about black love. What is it they say about best laid plans? Uh huh. Colt saw Vickie and knew she was his. But Vickie was not gonna make it easy.
    I loved this book! The storyline was soooo detailed and very captivating. The family drama between Vickie and her mom Alicia was so deep, sad and frustrating at the same time. The way that Colt wouldn't let Vickie shut him out and his southern gentleman's manners was the icing on the cake for me. I just KNEW Vickie was a gonner for sure. Evelyn Sola did THAT with this 3rd installment. And what's up with coach Aiden and Jeannie? And let's not forget Alan and Tilly. The drama, chemistry, comedy, the family angst, the edge of your seat extra crazy drama throughout the book puts this book in my top 20 must read books of 2022. This book more than succeeded my expectations. And the extended epilogue? It's that fiya!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥 I highly recommend this book. Such a great read!!

    The first book I read by Evelyn Sola was “Friend Zoned” and was instantly hooked! Next I read Defeat, and followed it up with the Take series starting with book one. I didn’t think I wanted to read Takeoff because I had already been introduced to Vickie and Colt, but I loved their interaction with each other in Takeover and how Vickie showed up center court in Takedown. I decided to give their story a chance, and I am happy I read this book.

    Vickie is 1/3 of the Taylor 3. She, her twin brother Alan and older sister Tara have weathered many a storm together and it only made them closer as a clan. Their biological mother abandoned her children at the tender ages of 9 & 11. We are introduced to Alicia when she bails on the Taylor family Thanksgiving, which also happened to be Tara’s birthday. Even though their evil stepmother provided the love and care they were missing from their biological mother, each suffered from her abandonment. Vickie’s coping skill became detachment and she built a fortress around her heart.

    Colt is the golden boy of the New York Mischiefs. He has brought the city four championships in 6 years. His teammates have christened him Chasty Chastain because he isn’t in the club & doesn’t have a different women in his bed every night. He can’t think about that, he is a widower and father of a five year old boy. He has responsibilities to take care of! He doesn’t have time for the frivolity that comes with being a star athlete, until one night when he allows his teammates talk him into going out to the club to celebrate a team win. There in a club he doesn’t want to be in, he is introduced to Ethan’s (his neighbor & father of his son’s best friend) girlfriend’s sister. For him, it was love at first sight. He approaches her only for for to rebuke his advances informing him she doesn’t date men with kids, celebrities, and him being from Alabama doesn’t help much either.

    After a few run ins, and some serious begging on Colt’s part, they create a beautiful love story which almost comes to an end when the Mischiefs lose in the 7th game of the championship and Colt suffers what could be a career ending injury. Instead of allowing Vickie to be there for him and help him through his surgery and rehab, he shuts her out leaving her to feel abandoned. It doesn’t help when her ex send her pictures of Colt with his dead wife’s sister, who wanted to step into her sister’s shoes! The walls that Colt scaled were rebuilt with even higher walls. Colt has his brother Charlie drive he and Evan to Atlanta so he can get his woman back, only to realize the damage that was done.

    Vickie is offered a teaching position in Mexico and she jumps at the chance to get away from her broken heart and the man who won’t let her go. She is only there two months when she realizes Colt gave her more than a broken heart.

    This book is laugh out loud funny, heartwarming, and full of love. Now, please complete the Taylor 3 tales and give Alan his happily ever after!

    I really enjoyed reading this! Takeoff is an opposites attract, inter-racial, single-dad, sports romance that is well written with some absolutely awesome characters.

    Colt is a NBA player and a single dad. He is weary of relationships and is not looking for another person only interested in him and not his son. Vickie is a school teacher who does not do relationship or commitment, she has several reasons for this.

    The banter between these two when they first meet and the rest of conversations between them will have you laughing and loving this couple. This conversation though spurs Colt to rethink talking to another woman and also to pursue Vickie with his all.

    Vickie tells Colt she is not interested but there is just something about him that keeps her talking to him. Can he break down her walls to get his way? This was my first time reading anything by Evelyn Sola, and it will not be my last. I am going to read books 1 and 2 shortly. My only reason for not giving full five stars was it felt a bit like it was dragging in some parts.

    I love this story, I was grinning during the last 2 chapters because it was that good. I don’t know why I’m just now coming across Evelyn Sola books, I thought I knew almost everyone that wrote interracial stories. Imagine my surprise when I read Friend Zone last week, it was so good I had to go look for more of her stories. So now I am playing catch up to get to her current stories. Once I finish and get caught up on other stories I’m going to read some of these stories over but in order. I will read a great story more than once or twice.

    I just discovered Evelyn Sola's books. Takeoff is the best book she has written. It has everything a reader needs, laughter, banter, an alpha male, a strong woman, hot sex, intimacy and so much more. When Alabama bred, a rich and famous basketball star who plays for a New York, Colt meets heiress Victoria he knows she's the one for him. Now he just needs to get her to realize it. She has everything, a career, plenty of money, and a home but no man. She likes black men but this southern white man knows she is for him. The journey they take is bumpy but real. I love their banter when neither will admit they love each other. Throw in the mix a southern white Mama who Victoria feels may be racist but surprisingly to her, she is not. I could say more but, I won't. Read this book. You will not be disappointed.

    This is a well written series with well defined characters. Main and secondary characters were likeable apart from Kelsey and Robin and Tamron the jealous opportunist. Vickie needs to see that Tamron is not a good friend. The only reason this book did not get a give star is because on was literally sold on why Colt behaved the way he did. He did everything right only to mess up by behaving out Of character.
    Multithreaded to the coach and Jeannie's story.
