Teaching Tenderness: Forever in Middlebury Book 1 Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 370 ratings

Marcus ~
Being a single parent was hard, and something I’d never imagined I’d be. So when my ex-wife abandoned not only me, but our son, my world was on its axis, and I was forced to raise my son Jackson by myself. Unfortunately, trying to balance that fine line as both mother and father, as well as work full-time, was something I failed at… miserably. My world centered on my child and my job. A personal life was non-existent. Until one last-minute decision to pick my child up from school, I realized two things: I didn’t know my son at all, and his male teacher had the most stunning blue eyes I’d ever seen.

Anthony ~
My student, Jackson Anderson, had a secret. One that I was determined to figure out. It was one of the many reasons I became a teacher in the first place. To watch the light flash in their eyes as they finally grasped what I taught them had to be one of the most rewarding experiences ever. And even though I probably shouldn’t admit it, Jackson had burrowed his way into my heart to become my favorite student. How could I stop myself from offering to tutor the little dude so he could pass my class? Considering I’d been single since my douchebag ex cheated on me, I couldn’t help but notice just how sexy Jackson’s father, Marcus was. Too bad he was straight.

A friendship blossoms between the two men and leaves Marcus questioning whether he was so straight after all. And thanks to Anthony, Marcus begins to mend his relationship with his son. Obstacles seem to hit them at every turn, but maybe sometimes love will find a way…

***Teaching Tenderness is book one of the Forever in Middlebury series. While each book could be read as a stand-alone, it is recommended that they be read in order. Each book will revisit characters from the previous ones in the series. It is a contemporary romance between two men with explicit language and graphic sex scenes intended for adults only***

I absolutely adored this book. Anthony is such a sweet and funny character that I connected with him right away, and Marcus is so serious and guarded that I instantly felt for him and wanted to see him lower his shield. Watching them come together was such a joy to read. And Jackson, Marcus's son and Anthony's student, was the most adorable thing ever. I wanted to give each character a big, huge hug. The story line was great, the characters were awesome, and the romance was super sweet. Overall, I LOVED everything about this book!

Teaching Tenderness is a sweet story about opening your heart, finding love and building a family. Marcus, a single dad to son Jackson, has become such a workaholic he doesn’t see that his son is struggling. Anthony, Jackson’s teacher, has a soft spot for Jackson and offers to tutor him. Jackson is an awesome kid with quick wit and a good heart. The two men begin a friendship that turns to more. Problems from exes arise on both sides that Marcus and Anthony work together to overcome.
Overall this was a great book and I can’t wait for the second in the series.

It was a decent read. Not too much excitement and it was a little predictable but it was entertaining for the most part.

I wish their was more emotional development of both characters but it was a nice read.

My biggest issues are the editing errors and more research should have gone into dyslexia and how it’s treated within the schools. But the story itself is super sweet ❤️ and a really good read.

This was the first book by Brittany Cournoyer that I have read but it definitely won't be the last one. Brittany has a real skill with words and creates an amazing world that draws you in and holds you there. I felt the emotions of the characters and hung on each page to the very end.

Marcus is a divorced single father of a teenage boy that finds himself inexplicitly attracted to his son's teacher. His male teacher. Anthony is a gay teacher that has come out of a bad relationship - where his ex-boyfriend cheated on him. Neither man is looking for a relationship but somehow their shared concern for Jackson brings them closer than either expected. I loved how Marcus and Anthony fell in love naturally and believably while traversing Marcus's inexperience with man-to-man intimacy and Anthony's trials as Jackson's teacher. Jackson is a totally loveable scamp that takes his dad and his teacher's new found "friendship" totally in stride. I just want to hug him while simultaneously cuffing him on the back of the head. lol

I would highly recommend this book to anyone. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

I loved the main characters in this book. Marcus is a single father who works too much trying to raise his son, Jackson. Anthony is Jackson's teacher and meets Marcus because of issues Jackson is having at school. The author does a nice job of developing the story through the characters. They work through each obsticle as a team and learn to communicate with each other.

As a teacher with a son who has the same issue as Jackson, I can relate to both characters in different ways. I hope to see more of the trio in future books.

There were some small editing errors in the book so I gave it 4 stars. However, the errors do not take away from the story.
I received an arc copy of the book in exchange for a review. I have also purchased a copy for my library.
