- Reviewed in the United States on January 20, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis book was such an unexpected surprise! And two stories in one book! What a special concept! The first story starts out introducing the town with such a lovely wholesome pace— my son enjoyed that the author involved him in counting boats and bridges and such- but then it goes into a wonderful story as something unexpected happens and the children get to make a difference. Everything about this book is gentle and kind and has an unusual realness that is rare in many book! We loved it.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 16, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI love this story because of the love for animals show by the children of Slowville. I enhoted the plot, and the fact that there are two engaging stories, is a plus. The free activity sheets are a great addition too.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 2, 2020Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseI liked #1 however this one I should have returned but I am donating instead. I don’t want to read to my baby about C-Sections. The Slowville kids learn about a sheep getting a C-Section.
C-Sections are just such a bizarre and controversial (due to their overuse) topic to read about to small children.
My crooked, dismally incompetent private obstetrician John Milton Hutson at Weill Cornell New York Presbyterian dishonestly forced one on me for manufactured reasons, refusing to ripen my cervix even though he is a fellow of ACOG. I never could have seen it coming. This doctor whom I had wanted to trust I came to learn with shock and horror is dishonest, incompetent, lazy and greedy. I am not inclined to be reminded about C-Sections and I am definitely not the only one.
C Section rates have been going up along with related complications and maternal deaths even as hospitals profit and patients’ rights are in practice entirely ignored.
At least 30% of women in the US say that they are severely traumatized by their Labor and Delivery experience.
REALLY, OF ALL THE TOPICS??? C-SECTIONS???????
- Reviewed in the United States on December 29, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseNice stories with nice illustrations, with valuable lessons. However, I wish there was a pronunciation guide at the back for the different animals on the coloring pages.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 24, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI loved the short stories for kids to read and the amount of words on each page was appropriate for the reading age. These were fun stories that were translated to read in both languages. What a great adventure and learning toon!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 20, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThe book has some good chances for interaction where children can point out different things they see on the page. There are many animals that you get introduced to which helps kids become more comfortable with identifying animals. It is also bilingual which is a nice touch.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fun way to learn another language.
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis second book in a fun bilingual French / English series is about a group of children who live in the town of Slowville. This town has no cars, and the residents love animals and nature.
As with the first book, this book contains 2 separate interesting stories, and has lovely, bright watercolour illustrations.
In the first story, the kids rescue a sheep in distress, while they are out enjoying a picnic after flying their kites. They then make an unexpected discovery!
In the second story, 3 of the kids head off for a boat ride with their Dad. Engine trouble cause them to pull in to make repairs, and while ashore they have a rather scary close encounter with wild boar.
Kids will enjoy these further 2 stories, and will find themselves learning a new language effortlessly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Les Enfants de Slowville, le retour !
