The Game: A Grumpy Sunshine Sports Romance Kindle Edition
He's a grumpy quarterback seeking redemption. We had a one-night stand years ago and, now that we work together, I hope he doesn't remember me...
If the team owner wants my PR skills to polish Logan King's grouchy attitude, then that's what I'll do. He'll take the team to the playoffs, and I'll make him shine for the cameras.
His famous frown doesn't deter me. His incredible body can't tempt me. Getting a promotion is all I care about, when my parents' debt hangs over my head and my childhood home is in the balance.
Until banter fills our meetings, and he studies my curves like he wants me in his bed again. When he becomes the one person I can rely on, I almost give in.
Except caring for my parents leaves no room for anyone else. Not even the man I'm falling for. Heartbreak is the last thing I need.- LanguageEnglish

- Reviewed in the United States on June 2, 2025Loved it! Their first meet was hot 😛😛😛. I enjoyed their story and no 3rd act break up. Always love plus size representation in my romances. More girlies plus size than size 2 in the world anyway! I read some reviews that were upset by the female lead and her trouble getting her act together but I completely understood her. Giving so much and not receiving in return from people is traumatizing and walls are built to protect yourself. At 65 my walls are fortified because of it. My world grows smaller because of it. It’s exhausting to care more for others than they care for you.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 27, 2025I’m obsessed with Logan and his grumpy charm!
The Game was a fun and captivating read! Evie is an absolute powerhouse always ready to lend a hand!
Logan keeps everyone at a distance. But the few people he cares about? They see the real him — a total charmer with a soft heart. The connection between him and Evie is undeniable. I was cheering for them from the start. Watching Logan start to open up to her and his team was such a rewarding journey to witness. The moment they added him to their group chat? Priceless.
I couldn’t put this down for a second—once I started, I couldn’t stop! You have to pick this up right now. It’s the kind of book that grabs you from the first page and doesn’t let go. Trust me, you won’t want to miss it!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 21, 2025This is probably my favorite of Leonor Soliz’s books. The pacing, the banter, the characters— everything is so well done & makes the story just flow.
The romance is amazing like all of her books, but one of the things I loved the most was the friendship between Evie & Logan. They have this sparkling chemistry but it blends in with a deeper relationship while they go on these little outings to help Logan open up more for his image w/ the press.
And I’m such a sucker for a great guy friend group— especially a non toxic one where they support each other and this group of players has my heart already!!
I can’t wait for the next book in the series :)

I loved the tropes and was so excited to read it because I was new to this author and her work. I liked The Kicker! I think the pacing was a bit too slow. The timing of when he told her that he remembered everything was perfect. I felt like there was quite a bit of filler in the beginning that was a nice add to the story but I found myself skimming through because it just wasn’t holding my attention as much. The way Evie grew so much, finally letting not just Logan in but everyone else (friends and teammates wise). I understand hyper independence a lot unfortunately and grew up a lot quicker than I would’ve liked to. I can relate to Evie on this front so much but sometimes her stubbornness pissed me off so badly 😮💨. I think Logan’s growth definitely came in quicker and stronger than Evie’s which worked out great because it allowed him to be there & open with her when she was ready to talk and be open. The two epilogues were absolutely sweet af! Can’t wait to hear about Saint and Ames story 👀
- Reviewed in the United States on April 2, 2025This book starts 6 years ago with a one night stay between two strangers who never learn each other's name. Fast forward they meet again in their boss's office and have to work together closely. She's the PR agent who's going to follow him around and he's the new starting quarterback who hates being in the light.
He's very broody and trying to get out from his father's shadow and be a star football player. She's A girl just trying to get ahead in life.
Likes
-she's plus size he can still throw her around. (In a spicy way of course ;-))
-Fate is bringing them back together but not in an unnatural way.
-Constantly starting new "games"
-It was obvious to everyone they were attracted to each other.
-the banter and text groups!!!
Dislikes
-Spicy time movements were a little hard to follow. It was very focused on their movement and positions but how did they get in them.
Final thoughts
The premise for the story seems very similar to others in this genre but that's why we keep reading this genre because you know what to expect and can't wait to see how it actually unfolds. Evie and Logan were clearly ment to be and everyone could see it but them. Their attraction was magnetic but they kept fighting it. The author outdid themselves with the group texts. Could not stop giggling. Probably my favourite part of the entire book.
Finally I cannot wait for Ames and Saint's story to come out. Clearly there is more to their story yet to be seen.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 26, 2025This one was a good sports romance read! I liked that although it includes tropes that are commonly done, it was done well here! I loved the journey that we went on with the MCs and I even liked that the side characters added another layer to the story. The banter between the characters was great and the tension and slow burn/build up is not for the faint of heart! This read had all the tension and spice. It was great seeing King find a family amongst his teammates and find love in an unexpected place. The one star taken away was simply because at one point in the book, it repeated talked about her curves and I found it repetitive the same goes for the spicy scenes (just skipped)… and I did not enjoy the part where he grabbed her hips or something in the club (I can’t remember specifics) and said he was “like a cat making biscuits” or something like that… it just made me cringe. - Reviewed in the United States on March 27, 2025This was my first book by this author but it won’t be the last! I think the story was well told and while it starts with a ONS the second chance is truly a slow burn. These characters lives have changed since their one night together and Logan does what he can to break down the barriers of the girl who he couldn’t stop thinking about. Logan is also a legacy football player stuck in his dads shadow. So while Evie feels she has to please everyone and not get too deep with her friendships he wants everyone to see him as he is as a player and not be constantly compared to his dad.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous sweet & spicy sports romance with all the feels , Loved it ! 💜
We meet Evie and Logan back in college where a chance encounter leads to an anonymous one night stand, following Logans football game at Evies College. It's a night neither of them forget.
Fast forward to 6 years later, Evie is now a PR exec for the football team Seattle Strike. She is also trying to cope with the pressure after having to take over her parents' debt problems. Being an only daughter has left her helping with her parent's language barriers and the fallout of some bad financial decisions.
Logan arrives at the Strike as the new quarterback following a bad run for the team. He lives in the shadow of his father's successful football career and is desperate to walk his own path and have a relationship with his teammates he has previously missed out on. He also comes to face to face with the one woman he could never forget.
I really enjoyed the story of this grumpy/sunshine duo becoming reacquainted and figuring out if each other remembered their past. There was some really great banter and fun as they are forced to spend time together and some really sweet moments too as they navigate their growing feelings for each other, along side each of there own issues and responsibilities. I really loved how Logan looked after Evie when she needed it.
The teammates made some great side characters and gave us lots of fun, locker room shenanigans, ultimately becoming the found family Logan was hoping for. I am really looking forward to seeing these characters in future books.
This was a really sweet romance, with some great spicy moments and fab plus size and cultural rep. I am so glad Evie and Logan got their second chance. Can't wait for the rest of the series!
I received an ARC from the author and this is my honest review.

4.0 out of 5 stars Waiting for the next 👀
ARC reader here (thank you to the author!)
I really liked the book. The description and the History was super good and new. Sometines when you really like one kind of book (for me is sport Romance), the books may be repetitive, the troupes are not unlimited so it happens (I am not complaining, tho😂) but it didn't happen with this book.
Is a very good sport romance with a lot of potential for the next books.
So, why not 5⭐?
I didn't feel the "sparkle" between the to MC, I love both of them separately, how he works for accomplish his goals and how strong and capable she is.
But I think the relationship of them evolve shower fast. I enjoyed the banter at the beginning and I know both of them have feelings before the situation but I feel like it needs more work between the two of them.
Once this said I can wait for the next book of the series. You can see A LOT of hints in this book and I see all the potential there, can't wait 💖
