The Bride: A completely addictive, gripping psychological thriller from John Nicholl Kindle Edition

3.9 3.9 out of 5 stars 1,762 ratings

She’s on trial for murder… Now it’s her turn to tell her story…

The truth is that I loved James with my whole heart. We were soulmates: meant to be together forever. I had just found out I was carrying his child.

But it’s time to tell my side of the story. It’s time everyone knew what happened on our wedding day, on our honeymoon, and on that fateful last drive together. It’s time everyone found out about the secrets and about the threat that loomed over our marriage. It’s time everyone found out who really killed James.

And I need everyone to believe me. To believe I’m not a killer. Because if they don’t, then my baby won’t just have no father… she’ll have no mother.

An totally gripping psychological thriller full of jaw-dropping twists, that will keep you reading late into the night. If you loved Gone Girl, The Mother-in-Law and The Housemaid, you’ll be hooked on The Bride.

A psychological thriller with an explosive ending.

A psychological thriller with an explosive ending.
“The Bride” was an unexpected surprise! There were so many puzzles I wasn’t able to solve. The emotional first chapter is heartwrenching. Daisy is writing a book, for her unborn child, from a prison cell while awaiting her murder trial! Who can stop there?Daisy and James return from their honeymoon with a long and happy life ahead of them. Daisy is expecting and they are both looking forward to this new chapter in their lives. Then James is killed and Daisy is a 23-year-old widow. The story goes along at a fairly steady pace until nearing the end.The explosive ending is a jaw-dropper that I didn’t predict! This psychological thriller is filled with so many twists and surprises. My head is still spinning! John Nicholl did a fantastic job with the clever plot and red herrings that are scattered throughout the story.Sincere thanks to the author and publisher for this gifted ARC that was provided through NetGalley. All opinions are my own.#TheBride #JohnNicholl #NetGalley #boldwoodbooks #rachelsrandomresources #booktour #booktourhost #blogtour #giftedARC #ad #honestreview

John Nichol was once again really adept at creating an atmosphere that was suspenseful. The build-up was gradual but it felt like watching a noir movie. The main character had to go back in time to recount what happened. It was a great way to approach a psychological thriller. Mr Nicholl knows what he's doing. It is so interesting how everything is seen through the eyes of one character until the police become involved.
I love that John brings in Kelsey and her Detective Sergeant. The MC seemed to have so many laps in judgment but it made the story much more entertaining. Now I'm not going to spoil the ending for you. Just wait until you get there! Enjoy, I certainly did.

This was written like an autobiography. Mostly believable. She did surprise me getting involved with someone her husband so obviously disliked. I did think she made some bad choices even though she was supposedly grieving. The ending was really a surprise.

Story line good and then the abrupt ending. It was as if the writer grew tired of the story line

This definitely is a thriller from the first chapter to the last one. The twists and turns are many. I could picture what was happening in my mind until I thought it was over. Then wham, everything comes clear, unexpectedly. I recommend this book and plan on more books but this author. Never a dull moment.

Daisy and James are a very likeable couple. They are young and in love. Soon tragedy hits them. The story is written
by Daisy and is engrossing. There are enough twists to keep the reader engaged. I was surprised at the ending. If you like mysteries , I think you would enjoy reading The Bride.

Way too many words. Description s of thoughts, feelings, events went on and on. I found myself skipping over slot of paragraphs.
Going the story to be mostly very predictable.
I did enjoy how Oliver was able to involve himself. However it just went on too long.
Her mom asking if she killed James didn't make any sense.

What a absolutely stunning storytelling. I was so totally hood and I lost sleep. Little did I mind. I could not have put it down had someone offered me a million pounds. This is absolutely the truth. We all could do with a million pounds, seriously I would have turned it down. I will not give any spoilers. However when James disappeared. I had a few theory’s of my own. They were so far off the mark it was impossible to realise what was going to happen next. A really really twisty topsy turvey book which literally throws you one way and another. WOW WOW WOW. I SERIOUSLY DOUBT ANY ONE COULD POSSIBLY SEE THE ENDING. What a ending it was too, I SERIOUSLY DID NOT FOR EVEN A SPLIT SECOND SEE THAT COMING………. TOTALY STUNNED MY JAW HIT THE FLOOR WITH SUCH ALMIGHTY BANG, 2 days later still trying to put it totally back in place. There are not the words I could find to paise this book enough. Awesome, brilliant. Fantastic every word you can think of in my opinion still would genuinely not be enough. This is My book of the year and last year year before on and on…………….. Thank you JOHN NICHOLL

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will now read the authors second title.

It’s not a book with a twist on every page, but you think you figure it out early, then you flit between doubt and certainty which keeps you engaged to the end.
