Kudos to Kiersten who has done it again!
5 Stars
Kudos to Kiersten who has done it again!
I, now, after two books of Kiersten’s am a huge fan! She manages to create a world in which you cannot escape until the last page is read. One in which you both love and hate the characters, depending on who they are and always, always hope for your favorite to win! The Dream Job was no different, except the unveiling at the end, I couldn’t have seen coming even if someone gave me a little more hints. The true reveal was better than I could have ever hoped or thought of and it literally left me with my law open!I currently am awaiting the next new release, The Nanny’s Secret which is due out this coming Tuesday, June 16th, 2020

I am blown away.
I think I saw a review prior to reading The Dream Job which stated this had been the best book they’d read all year.
Yeah, sure, ok … I thought. I’ve seen the same response elsewhere & very rarely does the story live up to the honor/hype.
To my great pleasure — this story, written by new-to-me, Kiersten Modglin — was an absolute joy to read!
Even though there’s not much “joyousness” woven into the plot of The Dream Job.
I only wish I hadn’t read it, cover to cover, overnight. I wish I could relish this story for a longer period. DEFINITELY a second edition, carrying the tale forward. So much potential for a short series!
The book is a bit …. dark, at times. But it fits the situation the characters are in. The narrative.
Though I loved every bit of this extremely well written story, I will admit to getting quite frustrated with the main character at times. I even began not to like her very much; found myself rolling my eyes often in regard to her …. ways.
But! I trusted the process, that there’d be a reason in/near the end for the annoying bits. I could clearly sense some of the over the top behavior on the part of this character was particularly purposeful. And … well — no one likes a spoiler, right?? So I won’t say more than my eye rolling workout was all ultimately worth it. Lol ;)
Strong, rich, colorful, & detailed world building. Character development was absolutely top notch. The twists, turns, conclusion — sublimely enjoyable.
Just such an intriguing storyline. Extraordinarily creative. Quite different than many other “psychological thrillers” that are out today.
Ok — you’ve read my writing for long enough! Lol You’re wasting precious time here when you could be diving into the 1st pages of this addictive story.
Just get it. Read it. Love it!
I guarantee you’ll be just as happy you did as I am.
Also! This is my very 1st Kiersten Modglin read. I am now 1000% a new fan of her work. Going to go right onto another of her stories next. My fingers are crossed it will be written just as well as The Dream Job has been (I totally suspect it will be!).
Such a fun & satisfying read!!

This story is such a fun ride. For me, this novel had similarities to The Escape Room, but I liked it better. There’s this job with a great salary and loads of benefits, but there seems to be sketchiness lingering just below the surface.

Autumn Sanderson realizes right away that the job she is competing for is, to say the least, unconventional. For one thing, because she was connected to the interview by an outside employment agency, she doesn’t even know the name of the company, the name of the employer, or the requirements of the job. All she learns from the first interview is that she’d basically need to be available to do whatever’s needed at a moment’s notice and that she’d have to maintain extreme “discretion.” Though it seems shady, Autumn has a mountain of debt, a sick mother, and a desperation for a job in New York sooner than later. The whopping salary and the promise for stability for her and her mom is hard to pass up.

Despite her reservations, Autumn agrees to partake in a week-long interview process, wrapped in a luxury vacation experience, in which she and five other candidates will try and prove themselves to be the one person chosen for the job. Things aren’t what they seem, and it’s quite the journey for Autumn as she seeks to decipher how deep the rabbit hole goes and whether or not her life is in danger.

I did figure something out around the halfway point. I wasn’t completely right, but I was in the ballpark. With that, I was not completely surprised with the twist at the end. Despite that, the wrap-up was very satisfying. I wish there had been more detail around some of the aftermath, but there was enough to connect the dots as to how things would go for the future.

I started this book to pass time after getting off work. This book kept my attention even after I should have been in bed. Kiersten always keeps the story line moving and this was no different. The plot twist and ending was so good.

I purchased the audible version. Storyline was original, which piqued my interest. But there was SO much insecurity, hesitation of the MC that I soon became exhausted from it. Every time I would stop/play the different scenes to find my spot where I left off, it was of the MC having another emotional self-doubt moment.

I really enjoyed this book thoroughly. I’ve read a few of this author’s books so far, but this one, it just hits different.

You need to read it, to find out why.

I love how this was written, the characters, and especially, how it all comes together.

I know this is a vague review. Take what YOU will from it. We all see things differently, and act on things differently.

Hope you enjoy this book as much as I did!

I have had many jobs in the past but this one would scare the heck out of me. How can one even decided to go on an interview like this. Well, Autumn did along with five other candidates interested in the job. You dont know what the job is, but you will get paid a ridiculous amount of money if you get it.

Would you go? Guess I am a scaredy cat because I would not, but reading this book had intrigued me to the point....well, maybe I would. As usual a Modglin book is a "cant put down" book. You need to read this one!!

It was a good book with a bad ending I thought. Constantly I thought it was going to get more exciting then it ended really quickly so I found it slightly disappointing from 50% onwards.

Kept my interest throughout and somehow the ending, although not quite what I expected, was not a complete surprise. Reminded me of a Michael Douglas film (the name of which I will not divulge as it may just give away a hint about the ending).

All in all, a good, solid, twisty suspense with a pleasing outcome.

1.0 out of 5 stars Much ado about nothing
Reviewed in India on March 28, 2022
All the story build up, secrecy and hype boiled down to nothing. The characters are poorly built and the situations drawn long and boring.

The surprise promised all through the book is such a bummer. Regret reading through all the boring narration only to see the end fizzling out.
