A must read!
As a working mother of 4, it is hard to find time to read; I could not put this book down! The Echoist is a heavy story discussing domestic abuse. The author painted an accurate picture of what abuse looks like to both those who have experienced domestic abuse and those who have not. I look forward to reading more from Eliza Anne in the future.

Where do I even begin? 😭

I’ve known of this book’s existence since before it’s release, but it’s one of those books I have to prepare myself for before reading. I recently read Seventeen Minutes, also by Eliza that is a novel that coincides with The Echoist. After reading that I felt better prepare for this.

You see, this has heavy topics, topics of trauma, of ab*se, of addiction. All of which I’ve seen in close family members and friends. I’ve been that little girl trying to stand up for her Mom. And while I felt like I had dealt with the impact of that, in moments of this book I was transported back. While it still pains me and makes me overcome with emotion, books like this give me hope. If it can just give one person courage to get out, or get help, or anything of value then that’s a completely incredible thing.

To my dear Eliza. Your words hit hard, in the best of ways. You write with purpose and of value. There’s so much realism and rawness. Like how was this your debut? You beautiful little soul, you’ve broken me and given me hope. Don’t ever stop writing in what you believe in, and what motivates you, because you were made for this. But please when you send copies of your book send those pouches of tissue because all I have right now is fast food restaurants napkins and they’re not doing the job.

Please read this book, cry if you need to but also help be the change. Reach out to those that may need it. Be supportive and present. Give to local charities of DV if you’re able to. This books is without a doubt too 5 read of this year for me and I’ve read over 150.

Thank you again Eliza, you have a way with words that sing us a song, whether that song is happy for tragic. Keeping singing, and I’ll be over here crying. 😉

This is one of the most intense books I’ve ever read. I feel like this story will affect each reader differently and mostly based on your personal experience with (or without) trauma, especially trauma regarding D V Hopefully, while reading this book, you can see the beauty and the hope that is woven throughout the pain.
The twist of events at the end turned my world upside down. Holy cow.
What I can say, with absolute certainty, is that Eliza Anne is an incredible author. The fact that this is her debut novel is amazing and speaks to the caliber of her skill. I can only imagine where she goes from here.
Nothing would make me happier than to know a million people had read this book and that not 1 single person could relate.

I saw a post on Eliza’s IG that any proceeds made from this month (Oct) was going to be donated to a local shelter in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, so I immediately went to download and read this book.
I honestly didn’t know what I was getting myself in to, and I thought I was okay with myself but after reading this book and reading her apology at the end, I don’t think trauma ever really goes away.
Tatum’s story is all too familiar and heartbreaking. As someone who grew up in an abusive home and then experienced it as an adult, I identified with Tatum, a lot. Too much. The added “twist” at the end just literally tore my heart to shreds. The non-justice displayed at the end of the book is real life. And honestly, sometimes real life just sucks.
Thank you, Eliza Anne, for writing about such a hard topic and keeping it realistic. Thank you for not glorifying or romanticizing it. And to anyone out there going through something similar, you are not alone and it’s not your fault.

Be mindful of the trigger warnings, but this book did a fantastic job of capturing the conflicting emotions of a woman coming to the realization that she needs to get out of an abusive relationship. It has the potential to be a very important story for just the right reader. For that reason, I would recommend this book.
    👍🏻
This was a multi POV story, which I tend to enjoy. Personally, something about Addison’s voice made her a difficult character for me to connect with and enjoy from the very beginning. So, I did struggle with each chapter in which she controls the narrative. While I definitely liked our FMC Tatum at the start and end of the story, there were times in the middle of the book that I feel like she lost her voice and I found it difficult to differentiate between Tatum’s POV and Addison’s POV, if not for the chapter heading telling me whose thread of the story I was reading.
    💜
While this was a 3.5 star rather than a 4 star read for me personally, I think it’s worth a try for anyone who finds the premise intriguing.

I'm not sure what I was expecting as I went in blind but I absolutely loved this book. Content was triggering at times and I wanted to scream at the FMC. Also if I was the type to cry over books and movies I may have shed a tear even though I seen it coming. Over all great book.

The Echoist, Eliza Anne's debut novel, is a hauntingly beautiful portrayal of friendship, motherhood, and the realities of domestic abuse. While the book covers heavy themes, I was propelled through it by Eliza's vivid prose and three-dimensional characters. You will be left thinking about the actions of everyone involved long after you turn the final page.

I’ve got THE WORST book hangover!

This isn’t a genre I usually gravitate towards, but man am I thankful that I gave it a chance.

The raw emotion that seeped through the pages completely gutted me… in a good way. The characters were written so authentic that I lived and breathed alongside them.

Eliza Anne is an author I will be definitely be following in future.
