The Meet Queue-t: A Sweet Rom-Com Novella (The Meet Cute Series) Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 108 ratings

Tessa Nelson has officially shut her heart to love. After her fiancé cheated and her mum died, being alone seemed like the safest option. She only joins the London Queue to see Queen Elizabeth II’s body because it’s what her mum would’ve wanted. Not because she cares.

But after meeting scholarly history professor Oliver and encountering her ex (seriously, what are the chances), she’s horrified to discover she does care. About a lot of things. Especially when she accidentally pretends Oliver is her new boyfriend (whoops).

She was determined to guard her heart, but with the Queue coming to an end, so is her time with Oliver. Eighteen hours isn’t enough time to fall for someone—is it?

The Meet Queue-t is a short, sweet romantic comedy with witty banter, fake dating, and the magic that accompanies the perfect meet cute. If you love wholesome love interests and laugh-out-loud humour, this book is for you!

After realising being a vet would be too much work, Cassidy settled for the much-easier job of writing novels. This began during school and culminated in a Masters in Creative Writing. Her favourite things to write are morally ambiguous LIs and enemies to lovers, preferably with a sprinkling of one beds, wound-tending, and knives to throats (in any order). She lives in Leicestershire with her dog and not-morally-ambiguous husband.

This was a fun little story which also documented an important historical event - queuing the see the late Queen Elizabeth II. Meaningful!

It ended abruptly. There was an epilogue which was only a few hours later and didn't amount to much because epilogues are generally assumed to take place years later and show the reader how everything is all tied up.
However, the story was good. I loved the often humorous and clever dialogue. The two main characters, plus supporting cast, were written extremely well. At first, I was a little appalled to find out that the queue, 16 hours long, was about lining up to see the late queen's casket. Bad taste to write about such a sad event, in such a way, so soon? But the plot drew me in because it was written so well.

The book had good character development without the boring superfluous detail that usually slows down storylines for me. I enjoyed the interactions of the characters and really hope I can turn into Thelma one day. I kinda wish Tessa got her number, too. Thanks for a good read.

A fun, heartwarming story about a nerdy professor and a blue-haired baker (for now) sharing a moment in history.

And then also, spoiler alert, some kisses. They also share those.

    Five stars!

I picked up this romcom novella on a whim and it knocked my socks off! Cassidy Hart is a new-to-me author but immediately, I fell in love with her witty writing and irresistible characters, not to mention the brilliant “meet cute” set up (while waiting in the Queue along with tens of thousands of mourners to pay respect to the Queen).

Blue-haired, free spirited birthday girl Tess is nursing a broken heart since the death of her mother (who adored Queen Elizabeth) and breaking off her engagement from a cheating ex. By chance (or is it destiny?) she strikes up a conversation with handsome history professor Oliver standing in line. An adorable, opposites attract love story with two genuine, multidimensional MCs, toe-curling chemistry, a colourful cast of side characters, an inspiring message about finding love when and where you least expect, and a wonderful, sighworthy happy ending.

Can’t wait to read more from this talented author!

This was a short but cute romance about grief and unity. It's about falling in love in the most unexpected places and taking risks. It's a heartwarming read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love in The Queue
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on January 5, 2023
I've been looking forward to reading a book about The Queue for a few months now and when I looked it up on Amazon I found this one right along side it. This short read just hit right. I absolutely loved Tessa she's just 24 but has been through one of the hardest things a person of any age can experience. She has a wicked best friend but she's a way away so Tessa is pretty much chugging through life pretty independently. The Queue is such a bizarre, uniting experience,12 or more hours with the same people, that inevitability you sort of become friends with the people either side of you. Tessa really lucked out standing next to Oliver! Swoon.

The two other books I've read about The Queue have moved on into the future, I kind of loved that this take stayed right there in London because something about starting the journey home bursts that magic bubble. I am really excited to read more from Cassidy Hart if this novella is anything to go by.

I don't cry when reading books. Never have, never....Oh dear....... I did when I read this one. However I'm a man so I stopped (of course) - just.

With characters you can believe in, and a story to warm the cockles of your heart, this is a great read, and it won't take you too long either. Looking forward to more from Cassidy. Keep up the good work.
