The Truth (Truth or Dare Book 2) Kindle Edition
On the surface, I’ve got it all – a great job, good friends, a cute apartment, and a smart mouth.
The only problem?
I’m in love with a man who doesn’t know I exist.
We’ve all had that crush.
The one you dream about even though he’s ridiculously out of reach.
Well, my crush is a lot closer.
Daniel Stryker is sexy, smart, handsome… and in a double-whammy ‘why me?’ twist of fate, he’s also my boss and my best friend’s dad. Can you say zero chances?
But when a night out turns into a drunken admission of some uncomfortable truths, things change.
Or they might, if I have the guts to go after what I’ve always wanted.
Because suddenly, I’m not invisible to him.
And I see him, the real him I’ve never known.
It's scary plunging in heart first.
Is it too fast? Is it real?
And will he still love me when he finds out I’m pregnant with his baby?
The Truth is a full-length romantic comedy with an HEA and no cliffhanger.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 3, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThe Truth by Lauren Landish is a wonderfully well written contemporary romance with romcom flair for this age-gap story. Definitely an entertaining all around must read.
At the heart of it all for me are the characters. This author has put together an entertaining cast of characters that made this a joy to read.
Tiffany, the female lead character, is funny, sweet, sexy sassiness and whip smart. A heart so big, she seems to be everyone’s caretaker, supporter and go-to girl. Daniel is so many things! Not only older, but also the CEO of the company she work’s for, and Tiffany’s best friend’s Dad! While that’s a bit of a yikes! kind of thing, it’s not the focus. Daniel’s character is gob-smacked at Tiffany’s interest which makes him all the more genuine to me. He’s a workaholic until Tiffany gives him a reason to try a little spontaneity. Daniel is very sexy in his polished, dominant bossy CEO way, just the way Tiffany likes him and comes to love him.
The plot is as sweet as it is steamy; Daniel and Tiffany eventually jump into their relationship feet first. They get some help along the way too with a zaney cast of characters that know way more than one would ever suspect which adds to the entertaining comedy of this book.
Overall, as you would expect, things move along swimmingly until it doesn’t but in his true dominant, bossy fashion, Daniel comes through delivering the truth. Because the theme of this couple and their beginning, middle and HEA, is The Truth. Go ahead and give this one a try, I dare you! ;) (If you happened to have read and enjoyed The Dare, you are going to love this one too.)
- Reviewed in the United States on October 30, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseSurprisingly, I was cool with this age gap romance. I'll be honest and say that I was a little skeptical when I realized it was a daughter's best friend romance, but these two were sweet (and sexy) together. Our heroine is nearly thirty, our hero is pushing fifty, and they've had years to get to know each other - just not in this way. Once the flip is switched, things are a go, and the romance was unique and interesting after that. I do think the book itself is needlessly long; one hundred pages could've been eliminated and I would've liked it better. But the romance itself is very solid, and this makes a light and steamy addition to the series.
The story follows Tiffany, a woman who has been crushing on her best friend's dad for years. She's never made it a secret to her bestie but neither one of them actually thought anything would come of it either... that is until one drunken night changes everything. Drunk at a bar by herself, Tiffany calls on Daniel to get her home safely, and the evening proves to be eye-opening. With her inhibitions loosened, Tiffany makes her feelings known, and it awakens something inside Daniel. He's never considered Tiffany an option, but now that he knows she's interested... he can't deny that he is too. But crossing the line with your daughter's best friend - and coworker - comes with all kinds of strings attached.
If you're worried about the age gap, don't be. I think it really worked here. While Tiffany teases Daniel about what a hot dad he is, this never felt uncomfortable to me. Everything is out in the open, and the years that they've gotten to know each other just make the relationship feel that much richer. They've certainly got chemistry, and they felt right together. My main complaint with this one is that it just felt TOO long. There's a lot of story that has nothing to do with the romance, and I found myself skimming at times. These two have a quick, easy connection, so having the book be over 400 pages long felt completely unnecessary. But it's a low angst, high steam read that provides updates on some of our favorite couples while also feeling like a standalone.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 2, 2025Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI enjoyed the story, there was a lot of love and laughter reading it. I wasn't sure about how I felt about Daniel and Tiffany being together at first, but love prevails in the end!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 20, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseLoved The Truth by Lauren Landish. It's about a close friendship between best friends Elle and Tiffany. These two have known each other for many years and have out dared one another as well. Tiffany has always said she had a crush on Elle's dad Daniel though she's never acted upon it. Now, at the age of 30 Tiffany is going to change that.
When Tiffany goes out for a drink with her 2 female employees she orders a rather large drink and gets surprised by the amount of alcohol how quickly it affects her. With her best friend now living in England she is told to call Daniel. And she does. He quickly comes to the bar and picks up a very drunk Tiffany. Knowing she's not safe to be this drunk at home alone he takes her to his place. After she gets to his place and she gets sick, he tells her to go to his bathroom so he can run her a bath so she can clean up. While he turns to get the towels she quickly undresses and he's shocked to see her naked before him.
Oh my, do things get good. Daniel hasn't been in a relationship for years. Now he's seeing things about Tiffany that he never could before. Will the age gap be too much? So good! Loved all the family members in this story! Get this soon! Enjoy!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 18, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchaseSadly I really want to like the book. The premise and follow up from the dare was great. However I felt like it was too long with too much fluff and repetitive nature to it. Im sorry. I wanted to like it. But it wasn't a favorite. About 3/4 of the way through I was like she could end it here and I'd be ok with that. But I knew it didn't end there. And sadly I predicted the end and each thing to the point I started skipping paragraphs and still knew what was going on. Which sucks. I wish I would of enjoyed this one more. Sorry to the author. I hate leaving meh reviews
