- Reviewed in the United States on April 2, 2023These are imaginative, fresh tales.
There are 4 different stories that go through a range of emotions.
One is sweet, one triumphant, one Karma-ish, and one is a little nightmarish (not in order).
The endings and the order in which the stories are arranged is very satisfying (nightmare one is first)
My favorite is the eight ball one. It has a little of everything: mystery, sweetness, a familiar item used in a unique way, and...well, I won't say how it ends; buy the book and read it yourself.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 29, 2022The book arrived promptly and undamaged, which I was grateful for!
Sci-Fi is generally not something I would choose to read, but I follow the author on Twitter and decided to purchase upon release. The stories were exciting and definitely give you the adventurous space vibes that one would experience from watching Star Wars. Seriously pictured Tatooin in story #4. All of the events were well paced and exciting. The endings were rewarding and unexpected. I loved that the stories themselves were diverse, each taking place in a different setting with different people. I couldn’t even pick a favorite story, they each were beautiful and unique in their own right.
The only thing that warranted a five star review from me is that I personally don’t prefer to read stories that have, mention, or describe adult acts. Although not graphic, each of the stories has some type of tryst that is completely vital to the stories themselves. I would still recommend to an adult or maybe a 16+ teenager!

- Reviewed in the United States on May 29, 2023I have known the author for decades and he is just as imaginative in person as he is on paper. I am not a big reader of this type of book, but I would read anything this author writes and encourage others to share with friends. His writing is amazing and well worth the purchase. This book is perfect. I would take caution when reading a review that say up front they have not read the book and then proceeds to give a bad review. How would they know without reading?
- Reviewed in the United States on May 29, 2023I loved this book! I found it imaginative and creative. The four different stories lead the reader through a range of emotions that keep you tuned in. I read it in one weekend, straight through, and found it a real page turner! I loved the story of the explorer stranded on a planet. Overall, a well written book that is enjoyable to read and really connects you to the characters. I’d highly recommend it!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2023Great book. Would highly recommend it.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 20, 2023These stories are unique, written with a clear voice, and each is different. The tales aren't connected to one another, but all the narrators feel authentic to their own story, which is a definite plus. The settings and plots wildly vary, and this is cool, too. The author gets a chance to explore a variety of themes and thoughts, and I really liked the twists -- even the couple that I suspected were coming were delivered in a satisfying way. There is some violence and a little adult language, not a bad thing in my view, just for readers to be aware that I'd recommend these stories for a more mature audience. If you like sci-fi and spec fic (including dystopian or post-apocalypse), these are neat tales to immerse yourself in. I read one a night across the span of about a week, and every night it was an hour well spent. Looking forward to more from this author!

5.0 out of 5 stars Four very different stories - all page-turners!
I don't usually read books in this genre, but I have to say this one was a delightful surprise. The collection consists of four quirky and entertaining tales, each with its own unique charm. What really drew me in were the characters. In each story, I found myself genuinely caring about their struggles and many mishaps.
One of the standout qualities is how different each story is, yet they still manage to feel like a cohesive whole. Each novella has its own flavor but they all carry the same emotional weight that makes them a joy to read. And as someone who often finds the representation of women lacking in sci-fi, I really appreciated the strong female protagonists found in these stories.
Out of the four tales, my personal favorite was the one about the explorer stranded on a distant planet. The tense scenes with the local "inhabitants" had me on the edge of my seat and I found myself completely gripped.
Overall, the Thor Bozman Collection is an excellent read for anyone who enjoys well-crafted stories with unforgettable characters. Even if this isn't your usual genre, I highly recommend giving it a try. You won't be disappointed!

5.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining and engaging!
I really enjoyed Tales of Survival. Hill’s writing is both entertaining and engaging, and I thought the story lengths were just perfect. Lots of room to craft interesting characters and compelling plots, but each short enough to read in a single sitting.
The stories were all excellent stand alone tales, (I particularly enjoyed Behind the Eight Ball) but the anthology came together and was made cohesive by the interwoven themes of survival and self reliance. Each tale in this anthology is not just a story of survival, but a triumph of the human spirit and its unwavering dedication to persist against all odds.
