I absolutely loved this story. It had everything I needed. The teenage Angst, but also the adult feelings with the two different timelines. The rockstar and the nerd. The second chance romance. The mystery. The heavy hitting emotions. Now I need Ginger Scott to write an album and find the perfect vocalist to sing it.

    Once again, I’ve crawled out from under my safe little rock, taken a chance on a new-to-me wrıter's words, and become a fan for life. I love this gifted wordsmith's wrıting so much that I’ve immediately started on her back catalog. Johnny and Brynn are one of those couples who bulldozed their way into my heart and have permanent homesteading rights there.

    This story is told from Brynn's point of view, alternating between their blooming young love of the past and the troubled rebuilding of their relationship in the present. While it is a rock star romance, it's devoid of the stereotypical groupıes and promıscuity and focuses on Johnny's struggle with demons of the past that take him down the road of substance abųse.

    I loved seeing their early life, how Brynn and Johnny became friends, and her introducing the football quarterback to music, his true calling. It's funny, how one person or a single moment can profoundly change the course of one’s life. And when Johnny returns to town in all his messy, inebrıated glory, Brynn sets aside her wounded heart and keeps her promise from years ago to be there for him.

    This romance is an emotional one – raw, messy, devastating, and heartbreaking. But these two being reunited and Johnny's growth of healing, forgiveness, and peace is only part of the story. Somewhere along the way, Brynn finds her place apart from Johnny, and her work with one of her students, in particular, is evocatıve, sagacious, and glorious.

    I luxuriated in this one, soaking up the words, wallowing in the depths of emotion, and feeling my heart soar among the clouds. The wrıting is beyond-words amazing, and the emotions have formed my heart into something new. There's an analogy between one of my favorite songs and the relationship between Brynn and Johnny that's stunningly beautiful. And the use of glass art and its symbolism is exquisitely poignant and fed my artist's soul.

    This story can’t simply be classified as a rock star or second chance romance, because it's so much more. Never have I read either of these tropes and been so magnificently moved or had my heart made so full. This masterful, extraordinary, unparalleled read is easily one of my all-time favorites that I’ll return to again and again. Guard your heart, get the tissues, and dive in, because this phenomenal romance is one you absolutely won’t want to miss!

    I can’t tell you how much this book means to me. I questioned it. I wanted to quit at times. But it’s truth. It’s love. It’s hurt. It’s grief. It’s scared. It’s fulfillment. It’s when the soul finds peace. I came from the band life. To be fair, I was the piccolo. There were about 100 of us. But we were good. And we thrived. It was a family. A home. An understanding. This showed the athletes who also did band. That you didn’t just have to fit in one group. I did volleyball & marching band. This book speaks of a deeper truth. Of connections that are built through tragedy. Of connections that can withstand time and hurt. The Moon & Back is one of my all time favorites and I BEG others to read this and feel what it’s like to be in the shoes of someone that is very much walking this earth today. Ginger, you’re an amazing writer and a beautiful soul for giving us this story. This lifeline. Thank you.

    I loved Brynn and Johnny’s story. It started out as your type teenage love story that grew into so much more. So many secrets and past hurts they both had to over come. I love how the writer went back and forth from past to present in their relationship. It showed all the happiness and pain based on different perspectives of times of life. A phenomenal read. I highly recommend this book.

    I’m usually a bit irritated by books that skip back and forth between past and present but Ginger Scott deftly wove the two timelines together. There is heartbreak and redemption, nerds and music, a dash of mystery and glimpses of domestic abuse and addiction. It’s the second of her books that I’ve read and I’ll be looking for more.

    This is probably closer to a 3.5*. The story itself is sweet but really quite wordy and slow. It really needs a better epilogue, I will download the additional one from the author but would rather have had it included in the book. The book on the whole was a little anticlimactic it really needed a bit more at the end, especially as it took so long to get there.

    A journey of a jock who meets a band geek falls in love and then becomes a Rock star because she is her perfect muse and then life interiors and rips them apart … but fate has other ideas.
    If you love second chance romances this one is great . The characters are relatable and the story engaging . Another great ginger scott experience !
