Nicholas C. Rossis lives to write and does so from his cottage on the edge of a magical forest in Athens, Greece. When not composing epic fantasies, children’s books, or short sci-fi stories, he chats with fans and colleagues, writes blog posts, and enjoys the antics of his dog, cat, and young daughter, all of whom claim his lap as home. His books have won numerous awards, including the prestigious IBBY Award (Greece).

In addition to his best-selling sci-fi fantasy series, Pearseus, he writes short science fiction/speculative fiction stories, many of which have appeared in various collections and anthologies. These include Infinite Waters, which was voted one of the best 50 Indie books of the year.

    I didn’t know what to expect when I picked up this book. The description was exciting, and so I decided to take a chance. You see, I’m not a big fan of Sci-fi. I usually find those kinds of stories filled with so much techno garble that staying on the story becomes a daunting task. Not so with this Nicholas Rossis’ story of a female detective, Mika and her newly assigned android partner, Leo. Sure, some cars fly, and there are fast speeds to anywhere, but these just let the reader know the action is happening in the future. Mr. Rossis had grounded the story in more relationship interaction than dazzling future special effects. I had to laugh when discovering the grounds of the bad guy’s mansion is guarded with robotic dogs. I could see it happening. The real story beautifully narrated is about a bad guy trying to do bad things and a couple of law enforcement folks trying to stop him. Along the way, there is romance and suspense. The romance in the novel which is handled well tests the boundaries between human and machine. The suspense is just enough for the reader to feel a sense of excitement. The story has a great ending which will please most.
    I recommend this book to anyone who wants a story that is engaging and well written.

    This sci-fi book may very well be a glimpse into our future where we all wear halolenses and travel through the air at high speeds in Zoomers.
    I enjoyed this story as a human detective, Mika and an android, Leo, her partner, fall in love. Impossible? I beg to differ The author made me believe in the possibility.
    The world building in this story is amazing. Described in such detail, I could see each scene as it unfolded.
    Bring an evil doctor into the mix who specializes in cloning, along with an artist who also clones her art pieces and you have a true bit of sci-fi that will leave you astounded.
    And there is a murder mystery to solve. There is also a large dose of corruption and greed that makes the story all that more relatable.
    This is a short read, but a highly entertaining one. If you love taking a trip into the future with all sorts of amazing advanced technology, you'll enjoy this story. Add in the very human touch and you have a great story! Well done, Mr. Rossis!

    With a title like this I did not know what to expect. Having read other books by this creative author I knew I would not be disappointed. I loved this book!

    It was fascinating to read about the Greek Isles while I was actually cruising there! I felt propelled into the future with Mika and her hot android, Leo, with clones, murder and mayhem at every turn. This story proved to be a delightful read!

    The author has an extraordinary view of the futuristic world. All Sci-Fi lovers will be thrilled with this book and won’t want it to end. Hopefully Nicholas Rossis is working on more stories with Mika and Leo. Who would have thought that this toaster could be so hot!

    After some initial bewilderment, I settled into this story with a grin and a hot Kindle. So hot I only stopped because it needed recharging.

    Nicholas Rossis takes us from a futuristic US crime scene to a sort of conserved Greek island, only it isn’t really. A large part of the island is made over to the guy who owns it, who made his millions through cloning. Yes, cloning is big business in the future, so much that the powers that be banned it, or set such rigorous rules about it that it might as well be banned. And the technical status of thinking androids or clones is … questioned.

    This aspect of the world building is mind-blowingly complex and exceedingly well done. I like my science fiction to have very broad science applications, not just physics and engineering but sociology, philosophy and genetics too. The physical aspects of the world are also done well. Not surprisingly, since he lives on a Greek island, the author does Greek islands beautifully!

    The story and plot has enough twists and turns to keep me entertained and turning pages. The characters come across very well, especially the ones who are clones – who knew clones would have such different personalities?

    And as for toasters – well, you’ll have to read about how hot they are, and then you’ll understand how much I’d like one! Even if you’re not a scifi fan, or a romance fan, or even a crime fan, you’ll like this !

    There’s a woman and a man who has black ears and... wait he’s not a man and things get a bit crazy. Mika Pensive is tough but how tough? She’s a cop out of her jurisdiction and her league but she has help with her new partner Leo. There’s a super baddy, hololens, clones, zoomers and all sorts. It’s fast paced and often furious... well Mika anyway.
    Rossi has created a future world where the future bits meld neatly with the human condition - we’re still flesh and blood, we still hurt, need to eat and sleep and... well, you know. It’s a world that works both on its terms and how one might imagine us progressing.
    If I have a criticism it’s that there are some plot jumps, some bits that jar like gears changing badly. But the story moves on so one can be forgiving. All in all a very easy and enjoyable read.

    I hope this is the start of a series of novels, staring the 'toaster' Leo and the female detective. Book got me going from the first couple of pages and could not let go easily! A James-Bondish plot twist provides an extra twist which makes the story even more gripping. I enjoyed thoroughly the writing, which is fast-paced exciting with interesting futuristic ideas. Being placed in a Greek island only made it even more interesting. Would definitely recommend it. If I could find one minus, it would be that it felt kind of short, probably because I liked it so much.
