I really loved this second installment of the Dr. Daniel Kendrick series! I read the first book recently so I was able to jump right back in and immediately get immersed in the characters. The new characters in this book were seamlessly woven into the existing ones we knew from the prior story. I couldn't stop reading this one and I kept changing my mind as to who the mysterious killer was in the hospital. If there is another book added to this series, I will definitely pick it up. I am hooked!

ARC Review: "Twisted Obsession" by Ruth Searle

Ruth Searle’s "Twisted Obsession" is a gripping continuation of the Daniel Kendrick series, plunging readers back into the tumultuous life of a man caught in a harrowing storm of deception and danger. Following the intense events of the first book, this sequel ups the ante with a pulse-pounding narrative filled with murder, betrayal, and a chilling web of secrets.

Daniel Kendrick, a skilled surgeon recently acquitted of murder, returns to a life that is anything but stable. His struggle to regain normalcy is thwarted when he is framed for the deaths of two patients, propelling him into a nightmarish quest for truth. Searle brilliantly captures Daniel’s desperation as he fights not only to clear his name but also to protect everything he holds dear—his wife, his career, and his very identity.

The pacing of "Twisted Obsession" is relentless, with twists that keep you guessing at every turn. Searle deftly intertwines the tension of Daniel’s personal life with the harrowing revelations of a human trafficking ring, creating a dual narrative that is as compelling as it is horrifying. The dark underbelly of the medical world provides a chilling backdrop, and Searle’s meticulous attention to detail makes the stakes feel all too real.

Character development is another strength of Searle’s writing. Daniel’s emotional turmoil and moral dilemmas are expertly portrayed, allowing readers to connect deeply with his plight. His journey is one of resilience as he navigates betrayal from those closest to him while wrestling with his own inner demons. The supporting characters are equally well-drawn, each adding layers of complexity to the narrative and raising questions about loyalty and trust.

Searle’s ability to explore the darker aspects of human nature shines through, particularly in her portrayal of the sadistic serial killer who orchestrates Daniel’s downfall. The cat-and-mouse game between them is thrilling, infused with tension that builds to a nail-biting climax.

Ultimately, "Twisted Obsession" is more than just a thrilling mystery; it’s an exploration of the lengths one will go to for love and the devastating consequences of betrayal. Ruth Searle has crafted a powerful sequel that will leave readers breathless and eagerly anticipating what comes next for Daniel Kendrick.

If you enjoy psychological thrillers that intertwine emotional depth with relentless suspense, "Twisted Obsession" is a must-read. Prepare to be captivated and unsettled as you turn the pages of this electrifying tale!

I received an ARC for free and I am leaving this review of my own volition! This is my first novel by Ruth Searle and it did NOT disappoint. I swear there was a new twist or turn on every freaking page, my jaw never left the floor. I saw that this was book 2 of a series, but I do not feel I missed out on anything without having read book 1. With that being said, Searle is a fantastic writer and I will be picking up book 1 shortly! With some of the darker parts of this story I found myself confused and wondering who I should be empathetic towards and just when I thought I had the answers, I found out I was dead wrong.

I HIGHLY recommend this book - heck this SERIES to all thriller lovers! It was a wild ride!

The second book featuring Daniel Kendrick and this was just as juicy and chilling as No Place to Hide. The twists had me gasping out loud and though I didn't want it to end, I couldn't help but fly through the book to see how it ended. My new favorite series and my new favorite author. Ruth Searle writes dynamite characters and the storylines are alluring! Another well job done! All the stars!

The author had so many ideas and there were various plot lines throughout the story. She was able to tie everything together for the reader well and developed the characters in a way that you couldn’t help but feel for them- even when they were making poor choices. Overall, I enjoyed it!

I definitely suggest reading the first book in the series if you haven't for this one to make sense. Daniel is in prison for murdering the man who killed his infant daughter. There is a lot to take in with this book, but it's so twisty and so worth it to stick with it. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

After being acquitted of murder Dr Kendrick is back to work. Only someone isn't very happy about his return and setting him up for murder of his own patients. But looking for the true killer may not be easy, because murder isn't the only thing going on. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Includes: partly set in a prison and hospital, explores the court case system, another unknown murderer on the strike, drug trials and under the counter procedures, dark twists

Thanks to zooloosbooktours for having me on these two tours! al devoured the first book, No place to hide, so I was hoping the sequel would be just as good if not even better! I like them both but for different reasons but this one felt a bit darker in some ways

No spoilers of course, but it was really nice to see where the characters from the first book were at. Especially the doctor, Daniel. Due to unexpected events the hospital ends up changing a lot for him and there's also an unknown person who's causing a lot of trouble for the patients. There is a few new main characters too, one who's also a doctor called Nick who definitely shakes the story up

This book was detailed but without feeling boring or like it was dragging. Each part of the story, whether it be prison or court or the hospital, they all had the perfect amount of description to make you lose yourself in the story and visualise the characters and settings.
The chapters were also pretty short which I love in books.

Chapter 73 - 75 was so hard to read but thank god for Daniel because he's got a heart of gold. The two dogs Chester and Ella and Maisie the cat made a cute addition to the story too

5.0 out of 5 stars An exciting multi-layered thriller!

Twisted Obsession picks up the story from Ruth Searle's first novel, No Place to Hide. It starts with a bang when Daniel Kendrick is suffering the horrors of prison life before his trial. The reader is left in suspense as to whether or not he will be acquitted. Ruth skilfully interleaves several gripping plot-lines and creates some nail-biting situations. As the narrative unfolds the tension ramps up and the threads of the plot gradually come together in a dénouement that I didn't anticipate. Most of the action takes place within a hospital setting and the author's medical knowledge is very impressive. This novel will keep you hooked to the end and, if you can guess the perpetrator of several hospital murders, I'll be more than impressed by your astuteness!
