Reckless: An MM Enemies to Lovers Sports Romance Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 925 ratings

From USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Becca Steele comes a new standalone M/M enemies to lovers romance.

Being signed to a Premier League football club should have been a dream come true, but instead, it’s a nightmare.
The reason? My teammate, Theo Lewin. We’ve hated each other since the day we met, and now, our rivalry is spiralling out of control.

When we hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons, our manager gives us an ultimatum. Learn to work together and curb our reckless behaviour, or risk being transferred to another team.
Banished to a far-flung tropical island, attending a rehab centre for the elite, we’re expected to not only spend our days together, but our nights, too.

This can only end one way. In disaster.
Except… our forced proximity is changing everything between us in a way I never could have anticipated.

There’s a saying… what happens on the island, stays on the island.
Before we go back to reality, we’re going to be reckless one last time.

Reckless is a standalone M/M enemies to lovers romance between two professional football (soccer) teammates. This novel was previously part of the Unlucky 13 multi-author series.

I’m sad that this series is coming to an end but so glad I discovered them! Jordan and Theo were your typical enemies who hated each other and were forced to spend time with each other on a private island. I loved that Theo took that time on the island to get help regarding his pill addiction and work ok himself. Never did I think they would start experimenting with each other even though I knew this was an M/M romance. I did wonder how the author would have then come together since they both considered themselves “straight”. My favorite part? The love and acceptance shown by the fans at the stadium before their soccer game. The acceptance given by their family and friends. Theo make a great decision by blocking his family, this goes ti show that just because your blood related doesn’t mean you need to let them continue being in your life!

Count on Becca Steele to write another amazing enemies/rivals to lovers story. Theo and Jordan’s story will be right up there with Levi and Asher and Cole and Huxley—couples whose stories I love to revisit. I’m just sorry it took me so long to get to this one.

Like Levi and Asher, Jordan and Theo are footballers, one from an affluent family and one from a working class family. But in this case Jordan and Theo are professional athletes who have hated each other pretty much since they met at a football academy when they were 13 years old. And now they’re not only playing for the same team but Jordan has been hired to play Theo’s position while Theo has been asked to change positions. This ratchets up their animosity, getting them into trouble and sent to Black Diamond.

Oof! Are these two incendiary together. They literally cannot control themselves around each other—each one compelled to push the other’s buttons. I love how Steele gives subtle hints that they are attracted to each other, even though they can’t see it yet themselves. Once they’re on the island their relationship starts to change and grow. I love how even though it’s fast, it’s believable. Stuck together, they can’t help but see each other in a different way. And when their vulnerabilities start to show, they’re both good enough people to want to reach out and help the other rather than use that to hurt each other. I just love when characters are open and honest and willing to confide in each other.

It’s definitely one of my favorite things when angry enemies end up being just the gooiest lovesick couples.

When I tell you I screamed, believe me!
Becca Steele is one of my favorite authors and each book I read of hers just reinforces that.
The dynamic between these two is 🥵 the way they come together and how they hate each other but then it becomes so much more!!
Like all her other books it just hooks you from the very beginning and doesn’t let you go, and this time it’s in the Black Diamond Novel (Unlucky 13) series where this amazing world has been created and we get to see so much more of the Black Diamond Resort!

Becca Steele is incredible! Every book of hers I read I fall head over heels in love with her characters!!! High five to Jenny for recommending this book, me seeing it on her socials and reading it. I love Theo and Jordan soooo much. This may start off with these two hating each other, but no matter what c love wine and I absolutely love these two sooooo much.

Soccer is my favorite sport to read and I rarely see it, so as soon as I saw this I grabbed it and devoured it. This is soooo fun, the boys teammates texts back and forth were my favorite and absolutely hilarious!!! A must read for sure!!!

A proper enemies to lovers where Jordan and theo walk the thin line between ungodly hatred and obsessive love. The line blurs when forced proximity for the sake of their careers and teammates happens. A forbidden romance hidden on a tropical island and a crushing stop to it when reality hits and back to their lives they go. With the magnetic pull between them something has to give and they make the courageous decision to come out to everyone despite the fear and possible consequences in the professional soccer world! Love these two found a way to make it all work out in the end!

This was a cute read with a fun group of characters, but I found a lot of the interactions a bit hard to believe. For one, the characters are supposed to be only 19 years old. I’m not a huge fan of reading books with characters that young but when they’re written well they can be great. This was not one of those. The conversations were an odd mix of extremely immature to way too mature. It felt like the author was torn between wanting the characters to be 19 year old boys to men in their late 20s.

While there were some scenes I thought were written in an odd way (like characters being described as leaping onto one another or doing something oddly childish) the main story was wonderful! I loved the way the two characters were forced to interact through their mandated time together and how they both started to peel the layers back and understand one another. The time at Black Diamond was really interesting to read about and was my favorite part of the book, but I also had fun reading about them and their teammates.

All in all, this was a cute read as long as you’re not looking for anything too serious.

Becca Steele has scored herself a huge goal with Reckless. Reckless is part of the Black Diamond, unlucky 13 world but it can be read as a standalone. If you want to see appearances from some of the other authors books though, you should read them all.

Jordan and Theo. What can I say about my babies apart from the majority of the book I wanted to either hug them or bang their heads together.

It’s no secret my favourite Becca book is Savage Rivals but Reckless may have just come and joined it in the top spot because these boys were everything. Their heated rivalry meant that the sexual tension between them was hotter than hell and their banter was hilarious. I’ve not laughed so hard at a book in a long time. Those vulnerable moments had me tearing up and when they took on the world together I couldn’t have been prouder. Another smash hit from Becca.

    Read Reckless if you love:

    ⚽️ Sports romance
⚽️Rivals that play on the same team
    ⚽️Island setting
    ⚽️MM
    ⚽️Bi awakening
    ⚽️Enemies to lovers

⚽️Group chats with side characters you will want books about because they are hilarious.

Becca Steele does such great MM Sports romance! I really enjoyed this one with it's push/pull chemistry and when it gets hot, it is steamy. The main characters and supporting were all excellent and I love the societal themes in the background. Great addition to the Black Diamond novels.
