Count on Becca Steele to write another amazing enemies/rivals to lovers story. Theo and Jordan’s story will be right up there with Levi and Asher and Cole and Huxley—couples whose stories I love to revisit. I’m just sorry it took me so long to get to this one.
Like Levi and Asher, Jordan and Theo are footballers, one from an affluent family and one from a working class family. But in this case Jordan and Theo are professional athletes who have hated each other pretty much since they met at a football academy when they were 13 years old. And now they’re not only playing for the same team but Jordan has been hired to play Theo’s position while Theo has been asked to change positions. This ratchets up their animosity, getting them into trouble and sent to Black Diamond.
Oof! Are these two incendiary together. They literally cannot control themselves around each other—each one compelled to push the other’s buttons. I love how Steele gives subtle hints that they are attracted to each other, even though they can’t see it yet themselves. Once they’re on the island their relationship starts to change and grow. I love how even though it’s fast, it’s believable. Stuck together, they can’t help but see each other in a different way. And when their vulnerabilities start to show, they’re both good enough people to want to reach out and help the other rather than use that to hurt each other. I just love when characters are open and honest and willing to confide in each other.
It’s definitely one of my favorite things when angry enemies end up being just the gooiest lovesick couples.

I’m sad that this series is coming to an end but so glad I discovered them! Jordan and Theo were your typical enemies who hated each other and were forced to spend time with each other on a private island. I loved that Theo took that time on the island to get help regarding his pill addiction and work ok himself. Never did I think they would start experimenting with each other even though I knew this was an M/M romance. I did wonder how the author would have then come together since they both considered themselves “straight”. My favorite part? The love and acceptance shown by the fans at the stadium before their soccer game. The acceptance given by their family and friends. Theo make a great decision by blocking his family, this goes ti show that just because your blood related doesn’t mean you need to let them continue being in your life!

When I tell you I screamed, believe me!
Becca Steele is one of my favorite authors and each book I read of hers just reinforces that.
The dynamic between these two is 🥵 the way they come together and how they hate each other but then it becomes so much more!!
Like all her other books it just hooks you from the very beginning and doesn’t let you go, and this time it’s in the Black Diamond Novel (Unlucky 13) series where this amazing world has been created and we get to see so much more of the Black Diamond Resort!
This is an amazing enemies-to-lovers, MM romance that while part of a shared world is a complete standalone so dive into their story NOW!!
