The Artist's Muse Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 27 ratings

Broke and desperate after her girlfriend leaves her for a man, Colette finds a job as an artist’s model. When she arrives for an interview, she’s surprised to meet a striking young woman, Lise Beauclerc. Her relief at not having to pose for a man turns to infatuation as she observes Lise during their sessions, creating fantasies in her mind during the hours she poses. Colette has no idea if Lise would return her affections, and when she finally gets up the courage to ask her out, their connection is more than she’d ever hoped for. However, a few days later, Lise introduces her to Marcel, her former fiancé. They seem intimately involved, and Colette is devastated. Will her dreams of Lise be unrequited? Previously published by Bold Strokes Books. Contains new material.

I love Ms. Palmer’s voice in this beautiful love story between Lise and Colette, an artist and her muse. Though it’s short (can be read in a couple hours) it’s captivating. The characters are well developed and the storyline is riveting (who wouldn’t want to be someone’s muse?). The prose is sensual and poetic and the setting (Paris) is so richly drawn it becomes another character in the story. I’ve read a couple other books by Ms. Palmer and enjoyed them but this is my favorite. I look forward to reading more of her work and I hope she sets more stories in Paris!

As another reviewer mentioned, this story is "sensual, poetic and romantic." Engaging and I was unable to put it down until finished. Very heart-felt. Really enjoyed this story of Lise and Collette's love story.
