All The Ugly Things: An Angsty, Friends-to-Lovers Romance (Love and Lies Duet Book 1) Kindle Edition
In a single breath my entire future was ripped away.
Now I’m left simply trying to pick up the pieces. Endless nights waiting tables in hopes of keeping a single piece of the dream I left behind.
He came for pie with dark eyes and a cocky smile. But those eyes saw more than they should. Past my walls to all those secrets I’d long buried.
That should’ve been my first warning.
I should’ve said no when he offered me a job too good to be true.
But I said yes.
Slowly friendship sparked to something more. Stolen moments became an obsession neither of us could kick.
Hudson gave me more than I’d ever dreamed. So much of what I had lost.
A home.
A family.
I should’ve known it was all a beautiful lie.
I should’ve known he’d only leave me with all the ugly things...
**All The Ugly Things is book one in the Love and Lies Duet and ends on a cliffhanger. The completion, All The Beautiful Things, is available now.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 21, 2025I have had this book on my kindle for like 3 years now and didn't touch it because there were just so many other books that I'm afraid to say this one fell through the cracks. Regardless, reading this was one of the best decisions I ever made. This book made me laugh and cry and swoon like crazy! Lily and Hudson are just so sweet and cute together! I will say, I don't agree with the way that David and Hudson controlled everything and made Lily feel, but I do understand why they did it. She is one of the STRONGEST heroine I have ever read and she continues to stand up every time someone takes her down a step, she manages to climb two more steps afterwards. I just want to be her(besides the whole jail part, well and maybe the rest of the bad stuff). The writing is written well and I am definitely going to continue on to finish the duet. I definitely think everyone should read it....It's brilliant and definitely underrated!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2023I was iffy on whether I wanted to read this or not because I've never read an ex con book before and never felt drawn to them but this book hit all the right spots for me. It was emotional, the plot was plottin', the spice was there, the love the Hudson and David have for Lily before she even knows of their existence is overwhelming. I could literally feel their love for her through the pages. The only thing I wanted was more... After finishing book 2 I was left like.... what? That's it? Noooo, I need more. But I'm a good way. I was pleased with the ending I just desire more from this family. First book I've read from Stacey Lynn and I'm already picking which book of hers to read next because her writing translates to your soul. Thanks for writing a great book.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 24, 2021Just when you think you know an author, BAM, they blow your mind with another level to their writing skills. I have been a fan of Stacey’s as far back as her days writing as S. Layne and I can’t really say she has ever dug as deep as she did with this story into my soul. I mean she is in there deep!!
This is a story that will be impossible for you to put down and you will crave the next half like you might crave your favorite dessert! I read this about 8 days ago today and when I tell you that I didn’t even stop to eat from the moment I began, I am not exaggerating. Lilly’s personal history along with the connection she may or may not have to the Valentines is thought provoking and suspenseful and captivating and I just could not read fast enough.
There are so many things that I want to mention but I don’t want to give away any more details about this story. There are way too many reviews out there that will practically tell you the entire story and that saddens me to no end. This is one of those stories that you want to be surprised by. There is a lot more to it than meets the eye. I can feel it. It isn’t even the ending/cliffhanger that had my heart hammering like crazy; it was more the anticipation of the other shoes dropping because there are always other shoes dropping LOL
Put all of that together with the writing skills of an author who has proven time and time again that she is a wizard at her craft, and you have yourself a compelling and addictive story that will have you glued to your kindle until the end! #trust
- Reviewed in the United States on March 27, 2025This is seriously one of the best stories I have ever read. Hudson and Lilly’s story is so…touching? Heart-breaking? Angsty? I absolutely cannot wait to finish it in the next book. I am just glad that I am reading these a good while after they were published, because the anxiety would have gotten the best of me!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 30, 2023I read the reviews but I clicked buy anyway because it's currently free on Amazon and I am still on that free Kindle book binge.
I wasn't necessarily bored but I can see the issue other readers had.
You know everyone's secret but why is it a secret? Then, you think how skittish Lilly was and you can see why but outside of that, the Valentine's incessant need to do good was weird and I still think there is so much we don't know.
I don't know if I want a novella or just to not read 340 pages of Lilly's inability to trust and Hudson's need to ... I don't even know what his need is. At one point, I thought she was about to get herself a Zaddy in the form of Hudson's father.
I appreciate the building of trust, even if we all knew it was going to be torn down but while I understand the friendship, the romance is a bit bland/lost on me. The long-awaited sex wasn't all that hot either.
Maybe it's the journey? I can say I appreciate Lilly's struggle after coming out of prison and dealing with all her family drama and what led her there. I love her abrasive personality and how she fought to not lose herself. I also loved her soft moments. When she let go and trust that she deserved to rebuild her life.
So while it isn't the best love story, I was interested in Lilly's journey and the moves she will make next. I am still interested and that counts for something.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2021This is my first book by this author and it wont be my last. I didn't really know what this book was about, I kind of went in blind. The only thing I knew was there was a cliffhanger. Once I started reading this book I couldn't put it down. Lilly is tough, resilient and feels she is undeserving. I feel for her. I feel just because you've made a mistake it doesn't mean that you cant learn from it or come back from it. She still is worthy of love, happiness and good things to follow. But I suppose somethings are too good to be true. This book is angsty in my opinion. There were times were I was yelling at the book and times where I would put it down because I didn't know what was going to happen. Wasn't sure my heart could take it. But that's what makes it a great story. Stacey does a good job of building the suspense. I cant wait to read the conclusion of Lilly and Hudson's story. I am hoping she puts me back together again.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 25, 2024Really good book. Very enjoyable. Going to read all the beautiful things as well. The sequel. I didn't expect the abrupt ending in this first one

5.0 out of 5 stars beautiful and heartbreaking and hopeful
I usually read quite fast. But I read this book slowly. To enjoy every moment of the story. It’s very different from the usual romance books. It has a story and characters and so much emotion. Stunning book and a must read.

1.0 out of 5 stars Badly edited
There were a lot of mistakes in the editing, made for a miserable read. Also not HEA book, you then need to buy book 2, hate not having a warning about that.
