Undeniable: Bainbridge University 4 Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 71 ratings

Undeniable

Some things are easy to hide, but some truths are undeniable.

Booker

I follow the rules. It’s what I do. In school, at church, on the ice, and definitely at home. Because if I follow all the rules, and do everything exactly the way I’m supposed to, no one will see everything I’m trying so damn hard to hide.

But he sees. No matter how good I think I am at playing it cool, at staying under the radar (gaydar?!), Ian sees me. It’s like he understands my head and my heart better than I do. And I can’t risk that. I can’t risk letting him see who I really am and what I really want.

Because no matter how much I want him, I can’t have him.

But I can’t escape him, either. All of our friends are coupled up, and he’s the TA in my Human Sexuality class. So, the first thing on my to-do list is to drop that class. And the second is stop crushing on Ian McBride.

Undeniable is a full-length M/M romance with a lovable jock, a sexy know-it-all, and lots of steam. It is the fourth inter-connected STANDALONE in the Bainbridge University Series and it follows Uncovered, Unknown, and Uninhibited. They are all standalones, but for the best reader experience, they should be read in order.

Booker's dad is a zealot, he has made his family miserable with his overbearing and his way or the highway rules and it continues to get worse and worse. Booker's only refuge is hockey. He promised his dad that he would play in college and that was it. After graduation he would work with his dad (which I don't think was ever made very clear). But Booker just wants to play hockey, yet he knows he can't stand up to his dad. When the athletic academic advisor signed him up for Psych of Human Sexuality, the class opened up Booker's eyes and helped him to admit some truths about himself and the TA for the class, Ian. Ian grew up in a small farming town when he was in eighth grade, so he has always known who he is and grew up in a house that loved and supported him. Even fought off bullies and bigots for him. The exact opposite of the upbringing that Booker had. Ian has always had a secret crush on Booker but always thought he was straight, so he always tried to push his crush deep down. But the more time these two spend together the more they both realize that can't keep anything buried anymore.

I have been very eager for Booker's story from the very beginning. He always intrigued me, and his story did not disappoint. It was heartbreaking and hard to read at times because of all that he went through with his dad. But he was such an amazing character and I loved who he was and the journey that he went on. And I do have to say that this is 100% Booker's story. About discovering himself, breaking away from his dad to chase his dreams and to go after what sets his soul on fire. Also loved seeing the interaction with all the roommates, how accepting they were, how fun and loving they are all together; legit found family those guys are, and I couldn’t love them all more. I am sad to see them all go but this has been a fantastic series.

This is the first book I ever read with a MM romance trope. I did enjoy it mainly because I liked Bookers character in the previous novel and watching him fall in Love with Ian was very sweet. However, I did feel that there was something missing between the two of them. I don't want to say chemistry as a whole but just something that I cant quite put a finger on it. The steam was definitely there and the story was good and entertaining. I love the friend group characters but I do recommend reading the previous novels as they do make quite the appearence in several of them and add to the plot/stories as a whole.

Andi keeps the reader on the edge of her seat as she leads the reader on a romp through this Bainbridge book. Definitely some interesting twists and turns. Andi never disappoints.

I think Booker and Ian's story was a great way to end what's been an addictive series. I'm not entirely sure if this is the author's first foray into the gay romance sub-genre. I've read most of her books, with the exception of a Chesapeake Shores holiday novella, Merry Trickmas, and Delayed, her short story in the multi-author Let's Play sports romance anthology, but I don't want to assume if this final Bainbridge University book is her first M/M romance. Either way, this was a good read, one that I enjoyed from start to finish. It's a fairly lighthearted story, although there are some definite angsty moments, especially when it comes to Booker's issues with his father and Ian's instinct to put everyone's welfare ahead of his own. One of my favorite things, naturally, was the friendship that Ty, Knox, Whit, and Booker had, creating their own found family through the years. I'm sad that the Bainbridge University series is coming to an end, but Undeniable gave it a 4.5-starred end, and I'm looking forward to a return to this campus with Bainbridge Hockey!

I loved Booker in the previous books of this series and now he's my favourite book boyfriend. His romance with Ian comes as a surprise to both of them as they both thought Booker was heterosexual. These two really made me swoon as they're so good together despite all of the hassle they encounter mostly from Bookers father. The twists and turns make this story exciting and Andi has definitely outdone herself with this book. A serious must read and Booker is most definitely my man!!
