Bossy Grump: An Enemies to Lovers Romance (Bad Chicago Bosses) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 15,138 ratings

Wall Street Journal bestselling author Nicole Snow returns with a screaming funny romance where two office enemies fake love until they're all out of make-believe.

You know that awkward moment when your lava-hot boss says "marry me?"
Not for love. Not for real. Not without a mammoth payoff.
Of course, this fortune comes with a ginormous snag—Ward Brandt.

Call me bananas.
I must be short of a full bushel rejecting Chicago's finest billionaire.
Who knew he was my boss when he crashed my worst date ever?
Oh, but he found out.
He swore I wasn't fit for Brandt Ideas, chewed me up, and spat me back out.
I vowed I'd prove him wrong—and sabotage a metric ton of his coffee.

Then tragedy strikes, upending his limitless ego.
Guess who needs an image makeover to shore up the family business.
Big fat hell no.
King Snarlypants has a peanut-sized heart and a chip on his shoulder bigger than a redwood.

Find another sucker, Ward-hole.
Even if I agreed, my shields are up.
No magnetic kisses. Zero butterflies. Nix the blushing when everyone gushes over what a “perfect couple” we'd be.
Then again...it's just ninety days and mama needs a windfall.
What's one little white wedding lie with a bossy grump built like a god?

Full-length enemies-to-lovers romance loaded with banter, drama, and so much slow-burn heat you'll want that Happily Ever After shaken over ice. A storm cloud of a man stuffed into a suit strikes a deal with the girl whose smart mouth drives him to the ultimate madness called love.

Review

Praise for Bossy Grump:

"There's a truckload of family baggage onboard this runaway train, and the author's witty writing style still manages to deep dive into the emotional abyss as we get to the bottom of what's left of Ward's heart...I've never read a Nicole Snow book I didn't absolutely adore and this one is no exception." -Viper, Reviewer

"Off to a rocky start is an understatement. The push and pull of this couple had me snickering constantly." -Linda, Reviewer

"Nicole Snow does it again...I binged this book so hard. I may have even shed a tear and gasped a time or two and swooned quite a bit." -Brenda, Reviewer

"Too funny, I loved those emails! With a storyline as smooth as silk and characters that can be a little rough around the edges, this book hit it out of the park!" -Lisa Reviewer

"This book was pure enjoyment. The snarky humor, sizzling sparks, and witty banter really fly as Paige and Ward's story unfolds." - Gladys, Reviewer

"Character development is such an important factor in a book truly being wonderful, and in this story it's really top notch. There's so much more to the grouchy 'Warden' than the face he shows the world." -Denise, Reviewer

I loved Office Grump and laughed out loud even more reading Bossy Grump. I was really into the story but felt it ended abruptly, although you could imagine the final outcome (possibly in an upcoming book).

Paige and Ward's story is the best so far. The chemistry between them is electric. I love this GRUMP Series. Nicole Snow is one fantastic author. I'm ready to read Nick's adventure!

This was a mostly light-hearted romance with only one break-up due to misunderstandings and fears stemming from having really rotten parents! But hey, without one break-up, there's no happy make-up!

The couple's first met this kinda unique. She is in a "Tinder" date from he'll and he comes to her rescue. Even though he believes she was drunk he sees her home and takes care of her beforehand leaves. The following Monday she shows up as the new executive assistant at the family business he owns and runs with his grandmother and brother. He still believes she's a drunk so what ensues as
he tries to overload her with assignments so she'll quit or he can fire and she meets his every challenge is some hilarity as she gives it right back to him.

What I loved about this story is the h, Paige Holly, is she's a really sweet, kind-hearted, artsy nerd and a dreamer, but she's no push over and can give back as good as she gets. Her interactions with her new boss are down right funny! Ward Brandt (aka Warden and Wardhole) is really a nice guy underneath, but shoulders a lot of responsibility. He and his brother, raised by their grandparents since Ward was 10, have both had to deal with scandals caused by their ne're do well parents who only ever appear to cause trouble and or try coerce needed funds from him or his grandmother.

On the verge of a major contract that is the culmination of his grandmother 's dream, tragedy strikes in more ways than one. Used to being colored with the same crayons his parents are, and believing he will loose the contract, Ward enters into a fake engagement with Paige in an effort to make him appear more stable. What starts as fake, soon becomes real, but he isn't ready to admit it and doesn't want to paint her with his family's scandals.

This is a humorous, heart-warming, and for a short time heart-breaking before we get the happily ever after romance as these two work their way from frenemies to forever lovers!

After a very bad date and a rescue from a handsome knight in shining armor, Paige is finally ready to start her new job. Working for a company as prestigious as Brandt Ideas has been a dream come true for Paige. A dream come true right up until she runs into her knight once again, but this time she's not tipsy, she's mortified and her knight remembers exactly what happened the previous weekend. Now, not only does Paige have to work for Ward Brandt, but he's not too keen on having her join the company. So, when it comes to her new boss, Paige decides that avoidance, if at all possible, is her best bet. With the way Ward has been treating her, that's perfectly fine with him. That is until he needs her help and seeks her out anyway. Ward needs a fake fiancee and Paige is the obvious choice. What's not so obvious is how they feel about each other and how magnified those feelings are about to become when they have to act them out.
OMG THIS BOOK WAS TOO FUNNY, I LOVED THOSE EMAILS ! WITH A STORYLINE AS SMOOTH AS SILK AND CHARACTERS THAT CAN BE A LITTLE ROUGH AROUND THE EDGES, THIS BOOK HIT IT OUT OF THE PARK ! ! ! I LOVED WARD'S JEALOUSY AND HIS INNER DIALOGUE ! WITH NODS TO ENGUARD SECURITY AND HEARTS EDGE, I LOVED HOW THEY FIT TOGETHER PERFECTLY ! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK ! AN ABSOLUTE, DEFINITE MUST READ ! ! !

Overview: ward aka warden or ward hole was a very grumpy boss. But when he runs into Paige at the art museum. Paige is on a bad date and is not holding her 1 glass of wine well. Ward saves her from falling and her bad date, only to find out she is his new Executive Assistant (EA). He decided to try to fire her before she officially starts, but Grandma Bea says no. She love Paige and her ideas and hopes to train her to be the next designer (architect). But when grandma has a heart attack, Paige saves her and holds the family together. Ward decides to offer her a fake engagement to win over a client. Both agree, but both fall for each other, but the past causes issues for both of them.

The bones of this story are very good and even believable. Unfortunately, there are some awkward scenes, some kooky dialog, and some truly out of character scenes that distract from the overall story. This author is really good at great sex scenes, but the rest leaves room for improvement.

Awful date turns into a disaster but is rescued by a dark knight and the awkwardness doesn't stop there. Girl starts new job and unfortunately the universe isn't that kind when she finds out who her boss is. There's banter and chemistry between the two in this entertaining romance. Good characters and dialogue with a simple storyline.I enjoyed this book. Not sure how I missed it, but I wish I read the 1st book in the series before this one, to see if it would of made a difference.

I loved this story! It's a lot of tropes in one story, grumpy/sunshine, a hate-to-love boss/employee office romance and a fake fiancée. Ward Brandt is a grumpy, stern workaholic with a cold heart or so it seems. When he meets Paige in an art museum, he saves her from harm but once he finds out she's been hired to work for him as an executive assistant he tries unsuccessfully to get her fired. So they butt heads for weeks then there is a need for Ward to appear engaged and Paige agrees to a 90 day contract. But feelings...

5.0 out of 5 stars Good read
Reviewed in India on June 21, 2021
It was really a good read. I liked both leads. Paige was actually a smart girl unlike other leads in 'enemy to lover office romance' where they don't even care to know who is thr boss and meet him accidentally. How dumb!!! But here, Paige knew that she met him and met him prepared. Nowhere I felt anything abnormal. Everywhere leads were smart and true to their characters.
I liked Nick & Beatrice but I didn't like Brina at all. What kind of bestie/roomie is she who couldn't see love in Paige's eyes at any point when whole world was feeling and seeing it..on the top of it she also left her alone when she needed her most. Not a good friend.
