From Book 1:

A mesmerizing novel of Renaissance Europe.

She followed her heart. But at what cost?

France, 1450. Sophie, the spoiled favorite child of a wealthy merchant, secures a love match with Cédric, a dashing noble-born falconer. But their isolated life in the mountains is not what she'd imagined. When Cédric is offered a job with the mighty Knights Hospitaller on the Greek island of Rhodes, Sophie jumps at the chance to improve their fortunes.

She quickly realizes their dazzling new home has a dark side. Slaves toil to fortify the island's massive stone walls, and rumors of a coming attack by the Ottoman Turks swirl in the streets. Desperate to keep their family safe, Sophie secretly engineers a bold escape plan. Meanwhile, Cédric falls afoul of powerful locals as he struggles to gain favor with the knights.

As the trust between them frays, enemies close in. When disaster strikes the island, the dangers of their new world become terrifyingly real. Will Sophie find the strength to protect those she loves before it's too late?

With this richly-told story of adventure, treachery, and the redeeming power of love, Amy Maroney brings a captivating and forgotten world to vivid life.

A mesmerizing historical novel of Renaissance Europe.

1459, Island of Rhodes, Greece. No one suspects Anica Foscolo is responsible for her Venetian father's exquisite portraits, least of all her wealthy fiancé. But her father's vision is failing, and with every passing day it's more difficult to conceal the truth.

When a powerful knight of the Order of St. John threatens to reveal all, Anica must act quickly to salvage her father's honor and her own future. Desperate, she enlists the help of a fierce Scottish privateer named Drummond Fordun. Together, they craft a daring plan to restore her father's sight.

There's only one problem: she never imagined falling in love with her accomplice.

Before their plan can unfold, a shocking scandal involving the knights puts Anica's entire family at risk. Her only hope is to turn to Drummond once again, defying her parents, her betrothed, even the Grand Master of the Knights himself. But can she survive the consequences?

With this captivating tale of passion, courage, and loyalty, Amy Maroney brings a lost, dazzling world to vivid life.

Sea of Shadows is Book 2 in an award-winning series of stand-alone historical novels packed with adventure and romance.

"She does an excellent job of bringing 15th century Rhodes to life. Highly recommended."—Historical Novel Society

I have been a fan of Amy's from the beginning. Her writing is fabulous and keeps you interested until the end. I have been waiting for The Island of Gold to come out and am so glad it is finally here. I read the book in one sitting. Her writing shows how important research is to her and she is so good about telling s story. The story of Sophie and Cedric is by far the best of her work. You would be missing a great experience if you did not read this. It is a must read.
