The early years of teaching can be painful. While your teaching program may have trained you well, there’s a lot that you can only learn on the job. Brandon Oliger learned many of these lessons the hard way, and he's here to help you navigate the challenges of those first few years.

Teacher Pains covers the “Big Four” of teaching, as well as all the little things teachers wish they would have known about sooner, giving new educators a leg up as they bravely traverse their first years in a complicated, challenging field.

Teacher Pains is formatted in short, digestible sections that are perfect for those living that new teacher life. Read it in one sitting, or take it a section at a time to help you survive those first years!

I could have definitely benefitted from this book my first few years of teaching! Even after having 12 years of teaching 3rd grade under my belt, I had something to learn and hope to put into practice in my own teaching. Thanks for being down to earth and vulnerable and helping us “painfully average teachers” find encouragement and direction!

Really appreciated the insights and honesty given in this book. Short, topical, and relevant. Hard to beat that combination. Brandon Oliger was super honest and not the hero of his story, adding necessary humor. Refreshing for an author today!
Great gift idea for any new teacher specifically, and for any teacher in general! Highly recommend...

I recommend Brandon's "Teacher Pains" as a resource when teaching youth at any level. I would have benefited greatly as I taught high schoolers in the workplace and in church settings.

Brandon's approach to education is full of grace and humility—like considering himself "painfully average"—and his passion for his students is always on display. His guide would be an insightful mentor for any young teacher or someone interested in getting started in teaching.
