Wedded to the Wanton Witch: Gaslamp Fantasy Romance (Fae Tricksters Book 3) Kindle Edition
The Bargainer …
Just like the fae of legend, Jonas Moen makes advantageous deals no desperate soul can turn away. A talented trickster, he’s amassed such great wealth he’s rumored to have more gold than the king himself. But there’s one thing he’s yet to acquire: a fae lord’s title. Born a commoner, he continues to be denied entry to the best the Lunar Court has to offer.
If he can secure the hand of a titled woman, he’ll finally have it all. But first, he’ll need to find a lady desperate enough to ignore his humble parentage and his wicked character.
The Wanton Witch …
Years ago, Lady Frances Aaberg sacrificed her reputation for a man she thought she loved, only to lose it all, including a piece of her soul. Now a desperate witch, she’ll do what’s needed to save her family from financial ruin, even if that means entertaining the offer of a marriage of convenience from the wicked Bargainer himself.
Jonas Moen is distractingly handsome and his penchant for dry sarcasm is admittedly amusing, but Frances makes it clear that anything more than a business arrangement between partners is not an option. She entertains his offer of matrimony but resists when a mate bond begins to blossom between them. The last time a man promised her the world, she lost everything.
Only a fool would trust the wicked Bargainer with their heart …
This cozy kissing book can be enjoyed as a standalone.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 30, 2023Format: KindleVerified PurchaseLady Frances needs to save her family from impending poverty after a scammer embezzled most of her father’s finances, but her marriage choices are thin after ✨scandal✨. Jonas is a rich and successful self-made business fae with a trickster reputation, but he needs that entry into the upper echelons of society via a titled wife that his money cannot buy. It’s a perfect match. The only thing? They have a very public antagonistic and adversarial relationship. Oh, and by the way they also happen to have a blossoming mating bond. 😅 What else is there to do except agree to a marriage of convenience in terms of a business partnership? Strictly business. 😉

Tropes:
- marriage of convenience
- antagonists to lovers
- “business partnership”
- true mate
- epistolary
- gaslamp romantasy
- low-stakes fluffy fun but make it kissy
“Frances cleared her throat with a dainty cough. “I should probably apologize for calling you a barbarian before.”
Jonas shoved his hands into his pockets, amusement tugging up the corner of his mouth. “A barbarian with a pea-sized heart and a 🪨 for brains.”
Her cheeks colored a darker shade of pink than her natural hue. “I’d forgotten that last part.”
“You also wished I’d go live on the moon.”
A short burst of laughter rolled out of her. It took her a moment to regather her composure. “Ahem . . . That part I remember.””
This is a cozy romantic “kissing book” in the Fae Tricksters series. We have fae, witches, dragons, humans in this gaslamp fantasy book. I had such a fun time reading this. Jonas and Frances find themselves at odds with each other but in the most entertaining way. We get a lot of their story via letters they write to each other and the flirting is next level fun. I love how the two don’t feel like they fit in anywhere completely but get each other. She’s a part human/fae witch who is always trying to adhere to the strictest societal standards and, he’s “too wealthy to fit in amongst the common folk and too common to fit in amongst the nobility.” There’s pain in feeling like an outsider looking in on your own hometown, and I really connected with how both characters battled with their struggles of not feeling quite worthy of love.
We have the big bad villain, Frances’s ex, who not only absolutely destroyed Frances’s reputation but destroyed her heart and soul. Bonus: Iso the dragon familiar is an absolute favorite of mine. Her idea of fun is collecting good looking males in her hoard, and I gotta admire her for that 😂 “I’m going to fill my hoard with the very best treasures! And all the prettiest men! And all the tastiest toads and snails!“
I love S.L. Prater’s writing style, I can only describe it as romantic. “A kaleidoscope of butterflies took flight in her stomach” when Frances sees Jonas.🥹🥰 There is a cast of delightful supporting characters like a human child Billie who is renamed after Seelie nature goddess Glasmorra, and a pet cat, named Cat. Highly recommend if you need a low-stakes romantasy where witches have familiars and dragons and fairies are real. Plus cameos from characters from Fae Tricksters books 1 & 2 made me so happy. You don’t need to read the first two books to enjoy Wedded to the Wanton Witch.
Thanks to S.L. Prater for the advanced copy. All opinions and views are my own.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 17, 2024Format: KindleVerified PurchaseDespite their antagonism toward each other, he had no intention of hurting Frances. In fact, he preferred a happy bride.』
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
This part reminded me of a classic historical romance.
We have a man who desperately needs title and therefore in search for a wife with lands and title. Lucky he, his public enemy our dear lady Frances is in need to find a wealthy husband, so her household can be saved and all her servants will stay with her family and not on a streets of a city.
They are flirting constantly, but both equally trying to deny the sparks and connection between them even if they they started their business partnership based on matehood.
But more they spend time together more they realize that wounds of the past are nothing for their feelings.
At first, will not lie, i was slightly skeptical, because right after first two parts of the series, this one is starting as a regency romance story and not a romance fantasy, but slowly my opinion and feelings change and when jealous and protective man finally showed his face, i was hooked and couldn’t put the book down.
Additionally we have mails exchanged between our main characters and it was fun and entertaining to watch how their relationship changed over the time.
My heart was ready to burst when our Lady in times of anxiety and nerves took her knitting stuff and decided to comfortably spend some time, interesting sweet quirk she had so i’m in love with this little details in every book.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 15, 2025Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI loved this cozy romance! Sometimes you don’t want to read about killing, torture, and wars and just want something pleasant and romantic. Life is terrible enough why read a book that tortures you while you’re taking a break? I love this book! I reread it after I finished it. Loved the build up between them and loved Jonas “golden retriever energy.”
- Reviewed in the United States on July 29, 2023Format: KindleVerified Purchase✨He started on the braids next, unweaving them. Her hair cascaded down her spine, the ends sweeping across the top of her bottom. He brushed the tresses over one shoulder. She helped gather it up, twining the strands into one thick braid as he loosened the fastenings of her dress.
Ripped satin pooled at her feet, settling quietly around her boots and stockings. She reached for her garters.
"Don't you dare take this from me," he rumbled at her.

Fantasy Romance 📖
🧹I recently read Wedded To The Wanton Witch, a gaslamp fantasy romance by @slpraterwrites and I loved it! This story is the third installment of the Fae Tricksters series; however, the novel can easily be enjoyed as a stand-alone read.
✨Wedded to the Wanton Witch is an enemies to lovers story with absolutely hilarious and witty banter, two amazing and stubborn main characters, tension, emotional draw, and some delicious spellbinding spice all wrapped up into a marriage of convenience.
🧹This story was such a fun read! I found myself laughing, so very much, blushing, and absolutely swooning over the two main characters and the deeper emotional currents that tugged at my heart strings. I adored the side characters in this story, particularly Iso and a little furry and fluffy companion we meet along the way.
✨The romance that forms in this story is full of flirtatious tension, and restrained desire with hand flexing that sent my heart careening over the edge. There is so much tenderness that forms from the rough exterior of these characters and their past experiences. Overall an absolutely wonderful, fun, and charming read!
🧹I highly recommend Wedded To The Wanton Witch to those who enjoy fantasy romance and romantasy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quick and enjoyable read
Format: HardcoverVerified PurchaseThis book was another delight to read from S. L. Prater.
I loved the story and the interactions with the characters from past books.
The only thing that I feel a little sad about is that the cover doesn't match the previouse WONDERFUL BEAUTIFUL art covers like court of tricksters and king of tricksters.. the kindle version does have the beautiful art but the printed version, the one that actually gets displayed, has a way less interesting cover without the characters. Hopefully the next 2 books will bring back the beauty of the covers <3
Love your books! Keep writing!

Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI was initially disappointed that book 3 wasn’t a continuation of the previous two, but this book has been my favourite so far. The antagonist relationship through letters was really enjoyable.
