Wealth Without a Job: The Entrepreneur’s Guide to Freedom and Security beyond the 9 to 5 Lifestyle Kindle Edition

4.1 4.1 out of 5 stars 20 ratings

This is a book about know-how.
If you are like most people, you have probably heard plenty of instructions. Your boss, your spouse and family members, church leaders, the advertising media, the government, and a wide variety of financial advisors continuously offer advice. A common characteristic of this advice is that it tells you what to do.
This book is different. It is our firm conviction that knowing how to do anything is the essential element. If you only know what to do but not how to do it, then you are left with trial and error as a method for accomplishment. Trial and error greatly increases the risk of doing anything new to the degree that many people accept the limitations of the status quo rather than risking the action to get the changes they want.
Entrepreneurship is not taught in the government-dominated education system or in private schools, either. For this reason, most entrepreneurs learn through baptism by fire—a method that can be both expensive and time-consuming. We don’t presume to know the exact business that is best for you. Instead, we will show you how to discover your true purpose so that you can choose a business that expresses your own values and calls forth your passion.
The difference in this book is that you learn how to do things from the inside out—not just what to do. We refer to this as the real interior decoration. We decorate our homes and our bodies in ways that

please us. Why not decorate your mind (your internal reality) in ways that please you? In ways that move you ahead, in ways that make your work more meaningful than merely making money, in ways that bring forth personal resources that you may not be aware of at this point?
We go beyond materialism in this book. Money can’t buy happiness. The paradox is that poverty surely produces unhappiness, anxiety, and dissatisfaction.
But we cover more than your personal psychology and mind-set. After reading this book, you will understand the fundamental structural changes that have occurred in the economy that have destroyed the once-common expectation that working for someone else offers the possibility of improving your standard of living and gaining financial security.
Earning the income you want from work you love: yes, that’s what you’ll learn to do in this book. Although it may seem a distant dream to you now, you will learn how to identify and then prosper at work that is an expression of your true purpose.
We have taught courses about earning the income you want from work you love in many parts of the world for quite some time. From this experience, we can anticipate some of the hesitations that you may have in using this material. Your mind may be saying something like “I never thought of myself as an entrepreneur or a business owner, so aren’t I just lying to myself by using this book?” This is an important question. Entrepreneurship is natural and instinctive. Most kids do not have to be told about earning money, and many spontaneously open lemonade stands. What you are really doing by using this material is returning to your instinctive method of earning an income. We know it is a lie that you must rely on a single source or a job for income. It is a big mistake to leave the decision of how much you are worth to a corporate or institutional bureaucracy. Most jobholders do not think about it this way, but in today’s job market, you are leaving even the decision of whether you get paid to your employer.

Editorial Reviews

From the Inside Flap

"People who earn lots of money from work they do not enjoy experience dissatisfaction because the money is never enough. Yet people who enjoy their work but earn so little that they are continually beset by financial problems sooner or later find that the problems overwhelm the enjoyment.

Unless you are blessed with a trust fund to pay your bills, it’s essential to devise a way for the work you love to provide an abundant income. This book provides you with that preparation."
–From the Introduction

This is a book you will read more than once. Because, unlike the garden-variety entrepreneurship guide that tells you what to do to construct a self-directed and financially successful career path, Wealth Without a Job tells you how to:

  • Determine your true purpose so that you choose a business that expresses your own values and calls forth your dormant passion
  • Understand the fundamental changes in today’s economic structure that virtually require self-actualizers to work for themselves
  • Discover and adopt the characteristics that separate the wealthy from the others
  • Earn the income you want from the work you love

Wealth Without a Job exposes the fallacies behind the once-reasonable expectation that working for someone else is your surest route to financial and emotional security. It then goes on to reveal:

  • The emotions that hinder success in entrepreneurship and what you must do to minimize them while maximizing emotions proven to help you succeed
  • The three ingredients necessary for effective change–Awareness, Acceptance, Action–and proven steps for incorporating them into your everyday life
  • Guidelines for turning stumbling blocks into stepping stones, including launching your own business even if you are currently unemployed

If you want to earn the income you want from work you love, you have to do it on your own; naysayers will only block your progress while successful people are already busy doing it for themselves. Let Wealth Without a Job show you how to make the emotional and psychological adjustments required to become successful as your own boss, on your own terms–then, let it provide you with a step-by-step, battle-proven program for doing just that.

From the Back Cover

"Phil Laut and Andy Fuehl are money masters! The information and the application of their wisdom is what will allow you to attract the wealth you deserve."
–Jeffery Combs
author of More Heart than Talent

"I was fortunate enough to learn many years ago that working is the very worst way to earn money. Work is made for us, we are not made for work. Our work is meant to provide us with satisfaction. We should do what we love and love what we do."
–Bob Proctor
author of the bestselling book, You Were Born Rich

"Standing out in a plethora of ‘get rich’ books, Wealth Without a Job goes beyond the predictable ‘set goals, work hard, and pretend to be happy’ approach; rather, it inspires, cajoles, and leads readers through known and tested paths to financial freedom. Phil Laut and Andy Fuehl don’t just seek to change your wealth, however. Be prepared for a deeper understanding of both economics and how your mind thinks and works, so that you and your goals are driven towards each other. A compelling read."
–Dr. Dolf de Roos
author of the New York Times bestseller, Real Estate Riches

This book will change your life. If you want to start your own business, or if you want to increase your capacity to earn money with your current business, get this book. For me, 'Wealth Without a Job' taught me the entrepreneurial skills that weren't taught in school. Even more importantly, WWJ shows you how to disconnect the unconscious habits around money and finances that may be impeding your financial well-being. It shows you how to create healthier and more effective habits (and beliefs) around money. The result is that you can earn money more efficiently, more easily and without excessive pain or stress.

As other reviewers have mentioned, this is a book you work with, rather than simply read through. It is essential to do the exercises to get the results. The exercises, and written material that accompanies them, are well thought out and effective. You can feel the changes occuring in you as you progress.

As an added benefit, the roadmap for change contained in this book works equally well for other areas of life. If you want to experience greater abundance in your life, give it a try!

A good self-help course to get someone on track towards working independently with something they love doing. The material gave me some fine tuning but I had covered a lot of the material elsewhere though didn't mind the reinforcement. That's the reason I rated 4 stars. One of the better points I appreciated from reading the book is to remain on the 'cause' side of the equation (of life). For anyone wanting to break free from being an employee I'd recommend the book as an investment in that direction.

When I recieved this book, I cracked it immediately.

This book isn't a "step by step guide", but a handbook to be used repeatedly, referenced often, and drawn from as much as possible.

It contains a distillation of theories and practices that will, when properly applied to your thought processes, improve your thinking.

The concepts in this book depend on how dedicated you are to improving your status, your wealth building potential, and your quality of life. However, you will only get out of it what you put into it. Hey, that sounds familiar.

Invest in yourself by aquiring this book, and you're in for a fantastic time, mind expanding journey, and the opportunity of a lifetime. You can do it! Go for it!

I was totally disappointed and I think the title is very miss-leading, I thought the book would show you how to take your business to the next level so you would not be dependent on an 8 to 5 job. I thought it was a difficult and boring read and I read a lot of books, but could not finish this one.

This is a must read for anyone who wants more out of life. Wealth without a Job is one of the most financially beneficial books I have read in a long time. It takes your psychology and puts it in a money building mindset. The way I look at things now is more from a perspective of financial prosperity and gain instead of worrying about paying the bills or just catching up. In fact since reading this book my business has picked up tons of steam and I have been on a roll ever since. I would just like to thank Andy and Phil for writing this book. This should have come out years ago. Who knows where I would be now if I had it sooner.
