When I Fall (Alabama Summer) Paperback – March 17, 2015
Purchase options and add-ons
For the past nine years, I’ve kept my heart as far away from my d*ck as possible.
Those two can’t be anywhere near each other. They don’t play nice, and one of them undoubtedly winds up getting hurt.
Not my d*ck. My d*ck is good.
The women I take home know exactly what they’re getting from me—sex. Nothing more. At least, that’s what’s supposed to happen. The sweet brunette from Kentucky I set my sights on tonight shouldn’t have been any different.
I had her right where I wanted her. Where I needed her.
But when my past comes walking into McGill’s pub, the woman in my arms decides to take things to a whole new level, putting me into a situation I never saw coming.
My heart is about to get f**ked. My d*ck can sit this one out.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 18, 2015From the teasers and excerpts I was fully prepared to love When I Fall a lot. But as I read this book, it was clear that those snippets of this story did not do it justice. This book was just so full of passion that I felt myself swooning at times. Two weeks later and still feel a very strong buzz just thinking about this book. If loving this book is wrong, I don’t want to be right.
I have a major crush on Beth Davis, the heroine of When I Fall. Her physical beauty was only enhanced by her strength and resilience. Nothing in her life had been easy, sure it left her a little scarred, but it didn’t break her or stop her from wanting to help others. She was just amazing. But something else about Beth that I LOVED? The girl was a bit of a dirty talker.
And Reed? Sweet baby Jesus on crutch, cracker, whatever – the man is something else. Sure he has some MWT (man-whore tendencies), but that didn’t make him a bad guy, because when you see him in action amongst his friends and especially with Sir Nolan, you will love him that much more. He is caring and thoughtful but not in a saccharine way. GAH, I need a moment! But if I am being honest here, I might also have a bit of a crush on Reed Tennyson, too.
Getting to know Beth Davis and Reed Tennyson through their own eyes and thoughts was like all the holidays and your birthday rolled into one book and with each chapter the reader got an amazing gift. What I loved most was their dialogue -- These two flirt and dirty talk as if it’s an art form. But they are also incredibly sweet and funny. For me their story is all about the joys (and pains) of falling in love. Learning favorite colors, foods and movies, those things are all well and fine, but there were also the intangibles – like being able to read the other person’s uneasiness and effortlessly help them find comfort. Or challenging each other to face a fear or pain. Recognizing a mistake and finding a way to make it right. These are all things I love in a couple and I think that J. Daniels captured them so perfectly in Beth and Reed. These two were not perfect, but watching them grow together, made When I Fall an even better book for me.
I’ve gone back a couple of times and read my most favorite parts of When I Fall – basically re-reading it. There is so much about this book that I love. Yeah, it is about two people finding each other. But it’s also about family, friendship, loyalty and (incredibly) hot bathroom sex. God, I love this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 8, 2015I'm not sure where to start on my review for this book...... I have loved & I mean LOVED everything that J. Daniels has written so far. I couldn't wait for Reed's story, I wanted to know what had turned him into being such an alpha manwhore. I describe him that way because that is the impression I got of him from the first two Alabama Summer books. We definitely get his backstory in When I Fall & it makes sense as to why he is the way he is. I would say that my opinion changed slightly about Reed while reading his story. I would take out the alpha label I gave him in the first two books. He's not so much an alpha male as just someone who knows what he wants in the bedroom. I think he's much too sensitive of a guy to be an alpha. We see it by how he reacted to what happened to him nine years ago that made him completely closed off to relationships & than we see it with his reaction to Beth. He's someone that knows that when he falls he falls hard & can't control it, when he's in he's all in. I also do have to say that with the whole manwhore label he has we don't see it in this book really. He takes home one girl in the beginning of the book. So we see how he picks up a girl & how straight out he is that it's just sex nothing else & will never be anything else. We also get to see how he treats the women he takes home the next morning. But we don't get the juicy details, that was a little disappointing. Enter Beth Davis a mix of fragile, sweet, innocent, strong, sassy, & naughty. She's quite the mix that has Reed all confused over her. Beth has had a bit of a rough childhood being raised by a parent that suffers an addiction but still has a strong love & bond with her mom. But she's suffered a loss that left her alone & scared & not quite sure how to take care of herself. This leads her to make some poor decisions that put her in a position to be torn down & to think she's not loveable. This is what ends up drawing both characters together they see that little broken piece inside each other & are drawn to one another. I liked the progression of their friendship into relationship. Of course this wouldn't be a good book if we didn't have a misunderstanding & some conflict to put a wrench in this budding love story. This is where some of the humor comes in. I loved seeing Mia & Tessa playing matchmaker in their own ways that pretty much almost blew up in their faces. Of course than you've got Ben & Luke being dragged In to what their women are devising. I loved seeing all these characters again & getting to know some new ones. I did love this book but I didn't LOVE zit like the others. I'm not sure why, it was well written, the characters were fully developed & the plotline was good. But there was just a little something missing for me. J. Daniels is still one of my top authors & I'm still anxiously awaiting Sweet Obsession Brooke & Mason's story, along with the next Alabama Summer book.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 18, 2015This is such a fun sexy series and Ms Daniels did not disappoint us with Reed's story.
I'm still a Ben and Mia fan all the way but really loved our kinky dirty talking Reed and sweet and sassy Beth.
With this review I'm simply going to brag on this amazing author. If you are new to Ms Daniels I am telling you to grab this and then go and immediately buy all of her other books because you are in for an amazing ride.
Ms Daniels is truly unlike any other. Just like our heroine Beth I love my Kindle and I love to read. If you are like me you probably have a couple categories you place your repeat authors in. For me I have the authors that are "hit n miss" authors. These are authors I look for new reads but may not buy depending on the storyline. Sometimes I love them and sometimes I hate them. Then I have my "consistent" authors. These are authors who I always buy their new books. They will put out consistent decent reads and I usually like what I am reading and occasionally find a gem. Finally there is the "genius story goddess" author. This is a rare breed I tell you. This is the author that I have all future books in my TBR in Goodreads, I always one click and pre-order every book without even knowing anything about it, then I'm checking for teasers because I know I'm going to read something amazing. Ms Daniels absolutely falls in this latter category.
Her writing is simply beautiful. She gives us plenty of steamy sex scenes, true to life angst, and hilarious laughable moments to keep us uplifted. And of course yummy sexy alphas and sweet likeable strong women finding true love.
This story was amazing and I'm counting down the moments til CJ and Riley...hmmmm.

5.0 out of 5 stars Holy smokes!!! Hotness overload!!
Is it possible that each book in this series just keeps getting better and better?!!! HELL YES!!! Reed has been in the previous Alabama books and I loved his cocky and witty banter, so I was eager to finally get my hands on his story! And J Daniels did not disappoint! This is by far, my favourite book in this series! The characters I have come to know and love are all back and we get to see where they are all at in their lives. And little Nolan was adorable in every single scene he is in from his yellow hard hat to his order for "white milk"!
I loved the instant attraction between Beth and Reed, and revelled in watching them "getting to know each other". I loved how alpha and dirty talking Reed was, and his endearments for Beth (sweetheart, my brave girl) had my heart melting into a puddle every single time. And Beth was one of those heroines that I would love to be friends with - loyal, selfless, brave. For me, this book was more emotional and more angsty than the previous books, and I couldn't stop reading/listening!! And holy hell, the sex scenes were smoking HOT!!!
Book 4 with CJ and Riley can't come soon enough!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars My new fave Bama couple!!
EEK!!! Beth and Reed have taken top spot for fave Bama Boys Couple <3
Reed is still not over a broken heart from 9 years ago. When he steps in to McGill's Pub his mission is to find someone willing with no expectations of a repeat, one of his top rules. Absolutely no repeats. When he lays eyes on the sexy brunette he's hoping to get very lucky by the end of the night. What he gets is straight out of a very bad romance novel but for some reason he eventually decides to play along. No matter what he does he can't get this girl out of his mind, oh yeah except for the first time they hook up and he can't remember a thing!!
"I was greedy and envious of every other man who tasted that mouth before me."
Beth didn't have a bad life growing up but it definitely wasn't Disney channel perfect. She has found some family whom she never even knew and things are definitely looking up. She's hanging out at her families pub when this holy smokin' hot guy approahes her. There is a little situation with his ex and Beth decides to take matters into her own hands.
"I grab his face with both hands, turn his head, and form my mouth against his."
I loved this couple so freaking much. While Reed has a hard time coming to terms with his feelings he eventually gets there, but is he too late ?
"I told her I would never hurt her. I told her I could only give her so much of me, when in reality I never had a choice. I loved her, and I never said it. She left thinking I never will."
Beth knows what she wants and she makes sure Reed understands her true feelings for him but can her love keep them together?
"I chose to love a man who can’t love me. Who will never love me.
J. Daniels certainly knows how to write heartbreaking romance that is both sweet &
smokin' hot sexy.
5 Alabama stars!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars great read
Confession time, i have not read any of the Alabama Summer series before by J. Daniels but i have read the Sweet Addiction series so i knew how great this author can be.This series though is one i will be looking at for sure, but back to When I Fall. I loved it no doubt about it, it has serious moments full of romance and then the heartache i feel for these characters oh my god i was kinda broken at these points. The writing style of J. Daniels is so easy to fall into and that is what you do reading this story you fall deep into these characters and their stories. Reed is a gorgeous character physically and emotionally, he and Beth have sparks off the chart. I loved how Beth just seems to jump into what her and Reed have with two feet, yes they both have reservations they know there is something there they just have to get to that point. I love witty banter between characters and it is more than evident in this book and between these characters. J.Daniels is firmly in my list of authors that i will be one clicking as this book has affirmed that to me. Fall in love with Reed and Beth because they fall hard for each other and you will fall equally as hard for them and their story.

5.0 out of 5 stars THERE ARE JUST NOT ENOUGH STARS!
I have loved every single book by J.Daniels. The Alabama Summer Series has it all. And this book....well, this book was the very best in a fantastic series. Reed is one of my favourite ever heroes. I laughed out loud at some of his lines and I LOVED his inner monologues . He was so sweet with Nolan~ their interactions were just gorgeous. Then there was Reed's passionate side. Sweet Jesus the man can talk dirty. Kindle freezer moments are mandatory .... phew!!! It was addictive reading watching him fall for Beth. Beth is such a brilliantly written heroine. I adored her. She was strong but vulnerable. Sweet and sassy. And she was so open in her love for him.
Great to see the others in the gang. I liked how involved the other four were. Oh....and I so want C.J's story . I don't think I have ever highlighted so many bits of a book. Definitely on my faves/ re read/ top hero/ best of 2015 lists!

4.0 out of 5 stars Falling hard
I've enjoyed all books in the series so far. This is Reeds story. Not one for commitment all due to his previous ex 9 yrs ago. So he s becomes the manwhore like they all do. Beth comes to his rescue & in effect helping herself heal in the process.
All the previous characters make an appearance incl Nolan, the little sweetie, tool belts & all, helping Uncle weed lol. The hotness factor is still there plus lots of sex, as per usual.
A very good series. I'm still to find one of J Daniels books that I didn't enjoy.
