The White Scorpion: The thriller for fans of Jason Bourne from MILLION COPY BESTSELLER Rob Sinclair (The James Ryker Series Book 5) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 4,084 ratings

The intense action thriller from million copy bestseller Rob Sinclair, perfect for fans of Mark Dawson.

Rule number one for an agent of the secretive JIA is to follow orders, no matter what.

But James Ryker has never cared much for rules. He only wants to do what is right.

Assigned to join a crew of elite security personnel in Chabon, Africa, Ryker’s mission objective is clouded by politics and obfuscation, and he knows only that to protect British interests in the region, he is to infiltrate the close protection team of the government of Chabon, a country with a dark and violent past.

Arriving in Chabon’s crumbling capital, Kilpassa, Ryker finds a country on the brink of civil war. A growing civilian rebellion threatens peace, with claims of atrocities committed by both sides, including the frail government run by enigmatic President Benyu - a former military general who took control of the country in a violent coup.

Drawn into Benyu’s inner circle, it soon becomes clear to Ryker that in Chabon, the lines between good and bad, and right and wrong, are nearly impossible to identify.

With a crisis of epic proportions unfolding before his eyes, Ryker knows one thing for sure: with or without the backing of his superiors, he must take drastic action, and quickly, or risk putting millions of innocent lives in danger.

Praise for Rob Sinclair:

I gave it five stars, because I liked the people and the action. Plus, it’s in Africa! However you are advised to skip the first chapter, read up to the point Winter is listening to coms. Then read all of chapter one and finish the rest. I’ll bet the author wrote it my way but some dummy convinced him the big action had to come early. Please trust readers to have patience to let the story of the first three weeks unfold naturally. Even as is, it’s a fun read. Enjoy.

The James Ryker series does not disappoint in delivering action, suspense, and mystery to its readers. This time Ryker is sent to Africa to stop civil war and unrest in Chabon. The prologue had my nerves jangled before I even got into the story. I knew this would be a tough trip for Ryker. I pretty much held my breath while reading how Ryker got into messes and out of them. Just the kind of thriller I like. Sinclair knows how to pace the action just right. I liked the characters of Patrick, Moreno and Numbi. Hoping there is a 6th book. Good book, a must read. You won't be disappointed.

This book in the Ryker series has more twists and turns than any of the previous books and had me locked into it's roller coaster ride right to the end. One of my favorite things about the James Ryker character is that he's not something of a superhero. He makes mistakes like anybody. He has vulnerability that makes him easier to identify with as I go along the story. Many times it is only his sheer determination that allows him to overcome his situation and see his mission through. These books are all a great read and I look forward to seeing where he will take us next.

I enjoyed this book from the beginning to the end, lots of action. There were no dull spots. There were a few things to figure out. Exactly who were the good guys and who were the bad guys. Spoiler alert. . . Everyone is?

Many thanks to the author / Bloodhound Books . I received a digital copy of this crime fiction at no charge and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

James Ryker is undercover and assigned to a group of security people in order to help prevent a growing civil war.

Everything is down to politics, corruption, on both sides. Despite being told to follow orders exactly, Ryder will have to take drastic action without the sanction of the higher ups.

This is 5th in a series featuring James Ryker, an unorthodox character who have the reader gasping as he maneuvers through what seems to be the impossible. Action-filled, the suspense is nicely paced leading to a nail-biting conclusion.

Captured the many conflicting agendas found in African with tribal, national, international, and greed motives all competing. Truly a fun read.

This was a great read, a few of the others in this series slowed down a little bit even though I enjoyed them, this one ramped it up again.

Set in Africa which is a first for the series, this was a fast paced book, very enjoyable and really shows that Sinclair is on his game. The places, characters, plot and prose were all excellent, never dull, I found it hard to put down.

I hope we see Ryker return in the future. I’ve enjoyed all the Ryker and Enemy series and suggest any thriller reader has a go. The character of Ryker is likable, hard as nails and a genuine hero, questioning everything and killing on when he has to. The JIA is definitely something you feel could exist giving clandestine orders at all times.

    Brilliant!!! Now.....what next?!?!?!

James Ryker always professional and brave, has a job to do in South africa, the story has twists and turns and exciting and dangerous moments, but Ryker is so good at what he does, even though he's badly injured he gets up and carries on in his quest to find the answers and the guilty parties. Lots of action in another great story from Rob Sinclair.
