A Winter Haven (Scottish Island Escapes Book 1) Kindle Edition
She was the one that got away… Now she’s back.
Career-driven Robyn Sherratt returns to her childhood home on the Scottish Isle of Mull, hoping to build bridges with her estranged family. She discovers her mother struggling to run the family hotel. When an old flame turns up, memories come back to bite, nibbling into Robyn’s fragile heart.
Carl Hansen, known as The Fixer, abandoned city life for peace and tranquillity. Swapping his office for a log cabin, he mends people’s broken treasures. He can fix anything, except himself. When forced to work on hotel renovations with Robyn, the girl he lost twelve years ago, his quiet life is sent spinning.
Carl would like nothing more than to piece together the shattered shards of Robyn’s heart. But can she trust him? What can a broken man like him offer a successful woman like her?

★★★★★ 'WOW just beautiful! I absolutely loved this story, it is one you don't want to put down until you have got to the end. My only disappointment..............I have to wait until March for the next story.' Amazon reviewer.
★★★★★ 'I loved reading this and Margaret is a fantastic writer, able to make characters and settings leap off the page. She's so good that I got highly anxious reading it due to the way the heroine's family treat her. It's testament to Margaret's writing that i couldn't put it down until I knew the happy ending was in sight! I eagerly await reading more books in the series!' Amazon reviewer.
★★★★★ 'I'm so glad this is a series as I didn't want to say goodbye to these lovely characters or their setting. I'm ready for the next exciting installment...' Amazon reviewer.

About the author

Margaret Amatt is a bestselling Scottish author, professional daydreamer, and certified chocolate addict. She’s been making up stories for as long as she can remember – some of them even made it onto paper (and, tragically, onto floppy disks that no computer can read anymore). After two decades of writing in secret, she finally unleashed her first novel on the world in 2021, kicking off a ten-book series set on the stunning Isle of Mull.
But why stop there? She’s also the creator of The Glenbriar Series, where romance, small-town drama, and a pinch of spice keep readers coming back for more. This series is still going strong, with more books planned!
Margaret has spent her whole life in Scotland’s breath-taking Highland Perthshire, despite her entire extended family coming from the Glasgow area. Her books are romantic and emotional, sweet and funny, and each one can be read as a standalone, but long-time readers know the joy of familiar faces popping up, adding to the chaos.
So, if you love relatable characters, sizzling chemistry, and plenty of banter, you’re in the right place – just don’t blame Margaret when you stay up way too late reading just one more chapter.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 20, 2022This book hit so many levels with me. I experienced a lot of the things Robyn did in her early life. It’s a very well written and poignant novel. I thoroughly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful read
Read this book in one day, it really pulled me in from the beginning. A very different type of story line and I don’t mind admitting that it brought along a sniffle or two. I love Mull very much and loved the descriptive writing ….. I even liked the no Christmas theme - made a lovely change and was very realistic. I won’t spoil the game by telling you what happened but please do take my 5 stars at face value and give this book a read. Wonderful characters and very well written.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Scottish second chance at love romance.
I downloaded this book to take to Dumfries and Galloway with me as I wanted a book set in Scotland and this is set on the Isle of Mull. I am so glad I did as this was the perfect relaxing escape read. I could picture perfectly the winter setting and the unusual family dynamics going on throughout the book. Robyn I loved, this girl has to rely on her inner strength and you find out why she has needed this as the storyline unfolds.
This had me laughing one minute to feeling outraged on Robyn's behalf the next, it has a second chance at love theme going on throughout and now it definitely has made me want to visit the Isle of Mull and as that is currently not an option I will look forward to reading more from this series to whisk me away there instead.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good read 😁
Likeable and relatable characters you root for. Enticing descriptions of Mull. Well done on your first book ‘A Winter Haven’ Margaret. A quick, enjoyable and sometimes frustrating read. As always is the case in romances when you know they should be together. I’m away to buy the next one... love a series!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent read
Robyn and Carl's story is equally heart-breaking and heart-warming. The book moves at a good pace to keep the story engaging. The characters are great and I liked the island setting. This is my first read by this author and I will read more.
