Nothing brings stressed people together like desserts.
Revenge is a dish best served scorching hot. That’s why professionally stressed and dessert loving Heaven Wilson creates a fake profile on the app her cheating boyfriend is using to find hookups.
But when she unexpectedly matches with Shane H, a man who seems as sweet as the baked treats he tempts her with, revenge becomes the least of her problems.
A more pressing issue? Not falling for the man she’s catfishing until she can ditch her unfaithful boyfriend. More pressing still? Shane turns out to be the professionally stressed, intimidating new boss she’s sent to work with.
And he has no idea she's the girl whose messages leave him craving more every night.
With a boyfriend who could doom her to enormous financial debt, a hot and cold, irresistible boss complicating her work life, and the intricate web of lies she’s designed for herself, this is the perfect recipe for disaster.
When it turns out Heaven isn’t the only one keeping secrets, will the cookie finally crumble?
Desserts for Stressed People is a steamy, slow burn, laugh out loud story about love, friendship, and sweet treats. It features two stressed workaholics who, relying on each other’s strength, find the courage to chase the happily ever after they deserve.

About the author

Letizia Lorini is the author of the Love & Other Recipes series. She's an Italian writer who's passionate about heart-warming books with high cackling potential. Currently based in a quaint town with pretty canals in southern Sweden: Malmö, she inhabits the Scandinavian country with her partner and their fluffy Japanese Spitz. When she's not writing or reading romance, she's cooking up some new story, researching the indie business, or wishing she was better at marketing or graphic design. She also has a degree in sociology and one in criminology, speaks three languages and drinks the daily recommended dose of coffee before breakfast. Letizia LOLs about pretty much everything and takes nothing seriously enough, as proved by her own ridiculous author bio. TLDR: I love this book. It was a reread for me and just as DELICIOUS the second time around. The narration really brought it to life. It’s a slow burn with lots of banter and pining, featuring a broody hero who rocks a suit, oh and bakes. There are lots of desserts. I’ll admit, things get a little complicated and (can’t look away) messy but it has such a satisfying HEA. Grab this book and some sweet treats.
The first time I read this book I was on a plane headed to my company’s annual meeting. I’ve been in the events industry for 15 years and this book had me laughing (and cringing) at how accurate the chaos that is my field and leading up to a big event can be. So, I definitely appreciate that an events team is the professional backdrop for this wild love story. It also has a modern epistolary element which I’m an absolute sucker for. Flirting over email and text is my favorite. The banter was sooo good. There were also lots of sweet and tender moments that had me swooning.
I loved Heaven. I *LOVED* Shane. So much. I think he’s one of my favorite grumps. The way he turns soft and sweet for her. (sigh) Letizia knows how to write a MMC. I’ve read both her books and if she writes it, I’m going to read it.

🎧 I really enjoyed the narration. Amelia did a fantastic job. Her performance amplified the tension and the emotional moments that as a reread I was sucked into the story in a whole new way.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 30, 2023I loved Heaven and Shane. They were SO GOOD together. This whole story was kind of a mess?! In a such a good way! It was perfect for the story, it was written well, and it was so well thought out. But it was so chaotic and messy. I wanted MORE of JUST Heaven and Shane.
The two of them were so good together. The office romance banter, how grumpy Shane is! But how happy Heaven makes him 🥹 how much they care about each other! All of the desserts he made for her 🥹 Shane finally made Heaven feel wanted and loved and taken care of for the first time in years, and it was so wonderful to see. The way he was HEAD OVER HEELS for her was absolutely amazing.
The only reason I gave this 4 stars was because of how long it took for Heaven to break up with Alex. And he was around for the majority of the book? I just wanted him gone. And I hated how much it was hurting her to try and get revenge. She needed to keep him around for her lease, but after her friends and even Shane offered to help her pay to break the lease, that should have been it for her?? She was just torturing herself for so long! And I hated seeing it especially since Shane made her SO HAPPY.
All of that is to say is that the whole story was GREAT. It made sense, all of the twists and turns were so well thought out! I did love it so much. Every time Heaven and Shane were together and doing cute things! How quickly they fell into such a sweet rhythm, living their lives together?! How happy he was!? How happy she was!!
I LOVED the ending and the epilogue. The epilogue was PERFECT.
I am very excited for another book from Letizia!! Love & Other Recipes is such a cute series name 🥹
- Reviewed in the United States on March 7, 2024As always, if there is one thing Letizia does best, it’s her story structure. A beautifully complicated web of relationships and life that feel both realistic, which is refreshing, AND like you’re in a Nicholas Sparks or Hallmark movie with the lovely happy ending. As an avid reader who frequently predicts entire storylines, Lorini is one of the few authors that can still surprise me; which gives me such a serotonin rush I wish I could read her books again for the first time. In my humblest opinion, that is the highest compliment I could pay a novel.
For a little more specifics..
It was very easy to fall in love with our grumpy/sunshine pairing of the enigmatic and brooding Shane (MMC) and our FMC, the adorably “neurospicy” (as I like to call it) Heaven.
In addition to “grumpy/sunshine”, Desserts for Stressed People included some of my favorite tropes:
•office romance
•he falls first
•slow burn
•friends/frenemies to lovers
And.. some might argue this.. but a unique, and hilariously messy, touch of “fake dating”.
This book had me laughing out loud, yanking my hair out, and tearing up in the span of several chapters and it was worth every heart-wrenching and anxiety-inducing moment to get to that part where you go “finally!”.
Some of my favorite quotes include:
•”..I wish I could jump over the table between us and…I don’t know, what’s something in between kissing and murdering someone?”
•”I couldn’t forget you if I wanted to, Heaven. In fact, I’ve experienced the very opposite problem.”
•”I see you. I see you for what you are, behind the layers of mistrust and fear and issues. I see you, and you’re…I wouldn’t change a thing.”
•”He’s the best kind of dessert — the one you don’t need to prove you deserve.”
•”..his eyes roll down my body, then back into mine, and he looks at me like I’m the best news he got today.”
And of course there are plenty of steamy quotes and moments that only booktok will likely see.. but are they oh so delectable! You’re just going to have to find out for yourself.

Her second book in the Love and Other Recipes series, The Wedding Menu, is just as spectacular and I cannot wait for the third to come out this year.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 8, 2024I liked a lot about this book, but I personally struggled a bit with the cheating premise. Shane was a sweetheart though

5.0 out of 5 stars Warning: this book is as addictive as chocolate.
Warning: this book is as addictive as chocolate. I'm telling you, you won’t be able to stop reading it... and reading it only once won’t be enough!
Sono innamorata di questo libro! I loved Desserts For Stressed People so much! I liked everything about it:
🧁Its messy and imperfect characters (main and second) and the way they all grew throughout the story.
🍫 The romance! I loved both the sweet flirting between Nevaeh and Shane and the sparks flying between Mr. Hassholm and Heaven.
🍭 The spice: the chemistry between Heaven and Shane was insaaaane and the spicy scenes did not disappoint!
🍩 The secret identity trope. I loved the poetic way in which the phone screen forced the protagonists to dismantle their own heartless facade and allowed them to show their soft side.
🍪 The happy ending. I only like love stories in which the reasons that lead to the break-up and the ones that lead to the reconciliation are both very well explained (and this is definitely the case). Plus, this book has the sweetest epilogue ever!
My only problem is that the second book in the Love & Other Recipes series won’t come soon enough! So, while we wait... can we all take a moment (or two, or three, or four...) to talk about Shane Hassholm (aka our new obsession)?!?!
- OksanaReviewed in Spain on March 30, 2023
5.0 out of 5 stars My new favourite book of all time!!
Let's talk about things that are really unfair in life, shall we?
For instance, it's really unfair finishing a pack of Oreos without them magically duplicating enough times until your belly says "Master, please, stop!" aka never; or going to your fav artist's show only for it to end ~2 hours later without being able to rewing the time and enjoy it all over again; or not being able to watch a film, a TV show or read your favourite book for the first time again so that you get to experience all those beautiful emotions that consume you; or, and this is an important one, not being able to give more than 5 stars to this book because I'm limited by Goodreads, but LETIZIA PLEASE KNOW THAT I'M GIVING Desserts for Stressed People ALL THE FREAKING STARS IN THE UNIVERSE! I PROMISE!! OH MY GOOOOOD!!!
Well, that was quite an introduction but SWEET HEAVENS THIS BOOK IS ONE OF THE GREATEST THINGS I HAVE EVER READ IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!! AND YES I ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO WRITE IN CAPS LOCK OTHERWISE I DON'T KNOW HOW ELSE TO EMPHASIZE HOW OBSESSED AND IN LOVE I AM WITH IT!! 😭 One thing for sure, Letizia Lorini surely raised the bar VERY high for all the future romance books I will pick up, and I ain't even sorry.
The story follows Heaven Wilson (can we take a minute to appreciate how beautiful her name is? Thank you!) who decides to create a fake profile on RadaR - an app her boyfriend uses to find hookups so that she's able to catch him in the act.
But not even Heaven expected the turn her life would take when she unexpectedly matched with a beautiful man, Shane H.
I mean, not only Shane H. is handsome, with a killer smile, but he also bakes. HE BAKES! I mean, can we throw a big-ass wedding already? Thank you!
What Heaven did not predict was that this handsome, nice and sweet Shane H. would also be her new-and-temporary very grumpy boss, who, BTW, has no idea that Heaven is the girl he's been spending all those long-night-hours chatting with.
Okay, I'll stop here because Desserts for Stressed People is meant to be read-enjoyed-loved and I definitely won't be the one giving anything away.
This book was everything. I mean EVERYTHING!!! I connected with it and the characters so much and on such a strong level that I never have before. I got seriously anxious in some parts, I CRIED in some parts, I laughed so hard in some parts, and I swear I cannot put into words how this book made me feel. It was a whirlpool of emotions and the best rollercoaster of feelings I have experienced! It was too much and I loved every second of it! It's so beautifully written, the characters and the story are absolutely amazing!
I just wish I had the power to rewind the time, or travel back in time, and read it for the very first time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Delicious romance
Get some delicious desserts ready before starting this book, because you gonna need them. I liked the development of the relationship between Heaven and Shane. There were a few things I did not see coming, so it wasn't to predictable. I did not like the she is still in a relationship with a cheater part. There is all that hurt in the beginning and I was so ready for that relationship to be over.
I loved the chapter titles and the epilogue.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm here for Mr Sassy Baker <3
I have spent the last day and a half thinking about this book, and I have the feeling I won’t stop for a long time.
This book is smart, witty, funny and tremendously delicious. Our protagonist, Heaven, is a very relatable character that has flaws. Our main interest, Shane, is also a character with many flaws and this is why their story is way more relatable than anything I have read in a while. They are not perfect and they accept each other as they are. Emma is the best kind of side character, with her bubbly personality and love for her best friend. This is the kind of Rom Com that will make you laugh at every page and also make you feel warm and fuzzy on the inside. Grab a box of cookies, get comfortable and get ready for this page turner because you won’t be able to put it down until you get to the end.
I have a list of books that I categorize under “comfort reads”, those books that you just feel the need to re read when you’re feeling down. Desserts for stressed people is going to be right a the top of that list for me.
Letizia Lorini’s writing is dynamic, funny and absolutely addicting. I can only give five starts, but if I could, I would give a hundred. Lorini is definitely one of those author that will be an automatic buy for me.
