Nate fears the life is slowly being choked from the village. But he has no idea why.
For the villagers, time is running out.
Who is the mysterious but enchanting Abbie who has set up camp close by? Is her travelling folk band here merely to entertain the locals?
Or is their purpose far more ominous?
Nate must uncover the haunting legacy of Raven Hill before it’s too late for both him and the village. That means he has no choice but to confront the evil crone in her lair.
This gripping tale of horror and redemption will envelop you in its chilling embrace, inviting you to confront your deepest fears and uncover the dark secrets of Raven Hill.

A WITCH 300 YEARS OLD WITH A HEART AS BLACK AS A RAVEN'S WING

ONLY THE YOUNG WITCHES OF THE ORDER OF THE SPIDERWEB HAVE THE MAGICAL PROWESS TO TAKE HER DOWN!!
“Our Order dates back to the sixteenth century,” Liam said. “The spider is a symbol of the spirit of creation and artistry. It also symbolises patience, persistence and feminine power.”
“Which is vital to our mission,” Clara said. “Hunting out witches that have left the general order to go rogue requires patience and persistence in equal measure. Once uncovered, they need to be stalked with stealth and then terminated.”
“Terminated?” Nate murmured. “For what, practising black magic?”
“You got it,” Fenella said.

About the author

Jools G King is a British horror indie author who takes feverish delight in scaring readers, and occasionally himself. He’s self-published three novels and one novella, with more to come. His latest novel is Catz of the Undead, which features a malevolent witch and zombie cats.
By day, he’s a civil engineer, and when he’s not writing he enjoys watching movies, reading books, especially about history and the occult, chess and travelling. He lives with his cat, Yoshi, who last time he looked has not turned into a zombie.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 24, 2024I truly enjoyed this story. It grabbed my attention quickly and held onto it throughout. Will definitely look for more by this author
- Reviewed in the United States on December 21, 2024This was my second Voracious Readers Giveaway.
This cover checked my crown love and who doesn't love a town possed by a dark entity? The main character is kind of bland in a way and I didn't really love him but he did grow on me a little. This was a hit and miss with me. Parts of the story I found very entertaining but other parts I found myself losing interest. It's not a bad story though I think it's just another one I'm either not in the mood for or just wasn't exactly for me.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 25, 2024At first I wasn't sure what to think about this novella. It does have horror and relateable characters. I could see this as an episode in a horror show. Although, I think that someone falling in love as quickly as Nate and Abbie is silly or just way to fast the rest of the book was great and fast paced.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 15, 2024Nate and Miranda’s long-standing relationship appears to be coming to an end. But the relationship takes an unexpected turn when upon visiting the local pub one evening, both are accosted by a raving patron. Shortly thereafter, strange marks show up on Nate’s face and Miranda begins to act weird. Then after an encounter with the loon that lives on the outskirts of town, Miranda insists that Nate go make amends, but on the way there he meets up with a traveling band of folk performers. Through them, he learns that all is not as it seems in Raven Hill. The village has fallen under the control of a rogue witch who has caused the land to fester and rot before their eyes. With the only option being to rid the village from the witch’s influence Nate tags along with the troupe to help. What he learns in the process opens his eyes to an entirely new and sinister world that he had never before imagined existed.
Raven Hill is an addictively suspenseful horror novella by author Jools G. King. Starting slowly, King paints a suspenseful picture of a town gripped by a sinister entity. For me this was reminiscent of how the town of Gatlin was at the mercy of the children of the corn. (And the irony of this statement is not lost on me either) Raven Hill’s problems are not the result of mere children, but a 300-year-old rogue witch and her minions. The story quickly picks up once Nate meets Abbie and her coven and learns about their true reasons for being at the village. After he makes the decision to join them I can only say that the pace, narrative and overall vibe of the book kicked into hyperdrive. King’s descriptions of the witch’s lair were so vivid I was practically gagging while reading. And for a long-time fan of horror - the bloodier the better - this is a feat that only a few authors have ever achieved.
Clocking in at around 150 pages, Raven Hill is a quick read that will suck you in and keep you entertained and maybe even a little grossed out. If you are a fan of horror, suspense, and are not squeamish then Raven Hill would be a good quick hit to add to your TBR. This is the first book that I have read from this author, but I am looking forward to reading more.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 20, 2023Raven Hill is a book about Wiccans and witchcraft. It follows an average man, Nate, as he encounters some supernatural forces. I feel the story was much too rushed. It would have greatly benefited from some added details. It was hard to really invest in the characters. The plus is that it is a quick read. I don't think I would recommend it unless you are really into the wiccan/witchcraft genre. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 9, 2024What I Didn’t Like:
-Slow start. You feel like you aren’t sure what’s going on in the exposition but you have this sense that you’re waiting for something to happen.
-Some of the dialogue is clunky and awkward.
-Instalove, which is my least favorite trope in books. This one is like I met you twice and now I say I love you forever. It’s a bit much.
What I Did Like:
+There are hints at what mystery might be underlying this town dropped like bread crumbs through the exposition.
+Witches. I always enjoy a coven being introduced to a book! This one was fun.
+Realistic battling. By that I mean not every hit lands, not only the good guys make good hits, and it doesn’t always end well.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 28, 2024Truly enjoyed this book...the character development was robust and storyline engaging. The imagery created was as intense as watching each scene from my front porch. Sorry, you'll get no spoilers from me but you will get a high recommendation to add to your reading list. Looking forward to reading more works from Mr King!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 25, 2024A very vivid fast paced boom.I felt it could have been a little longer kinda rushed towards the end. I really didn't want it to end. Nate and Abbie I heart them. But the century old witch was bone chilling and eerie. Great summer read for those anticipating spooky season!!
