You're Just Not My Type : A Grumpy Sunshine Office Romantic Comedy Kindle Edition
1. He pairs brown sweater vests with glasses like a nerdy engineer.
2. He likes boring dal rice. I'm obsessed with spicy tandoori chicken.
3. He is now (kind of) my boss at the gaming company where I work. And his first order of business? Fire the staff.
4. I actually maybe like this other guy I'm chatting with on the game boards 'for research' even though we've not met yet IRL.
Then I'm forced to work with Max to launch our new game. I begin to see the hot, sweet introvert under the joyless, uptight clothes. In a moment of weakness, I ask him to be my fake date at my frenemy's wedding.
And he agrees!
Between the launch, fake dating, and the tension simmering between us, I uncover his heartbreaking secrets.
But, this doesn't mean I'm falling for my nemesis. Okay?
Because, sorry Max, you're just not my type.
You're Just Not My Type is a feel-good standalone romantic comedy with delicious desi food, gamertalk, a well-meaning interfering family, and angsty MCs who are total opposites with a guaranteed happy ever after.

This is so cute, I enjoy every part of it. I have a fun time reading and can't help to finish one chapter to another. This is definitely my type of story! What a great read!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 23, 2023YOU’RE JUST NOT MY TYPE was an interesting and educating read for me. It centers around two cultures with which I was previously unfamiliar but fairly quickly adjusted to and became comfortable reading. As the story unfolds it is easier to immerse yourself in Max and Niva’s world, enjoying their interactions and the slow build of their relationship. The chemistry is certainly there, and their tale is certainly a charming one that will slowly capture your heart and have you cheering in delight at the end. The side characters, serving as an appealing supporting cast, add depth and context to Max’s and Niva’s personalities, making this a thoroughly entertaining tale that you will enjoy.

I am a sucker for a Pride and Prejudice retelling and this one did not disappoint. It had enough nods so I recognized the plot points from the Austen classic but included the fun twist of being set against the back drop of a Video Game launch.
Pros: the characters were likable and well-rounded. I loved the inclusive feel of diversity in race, ethnicity, and ability without it hitting you in the face. The sexy times were steamy but not overpowering (two major ones) which, as a lover of slow burn, I enjoy. The chemistry did build the characters. I also really enjoyed the look into Indian culture and the use of the language.
Why I didn’t give it 5 stars: Some of the reasons why the couple hated each other in the beginning and tried to keep away from each other were a little underdeveloped and their reactions to certain events seemed a bit over the top to me. Luckily the author didn’t linger too much in these moments. There were some backstory info drops that could have warranted some more page time to really get a feel for the motivations of the characters. Sometimes I had to scroll back and make sure I didn’t miss something since some reveals were just dropped in out of nowhere.
Overall, I recommend this book as a quick, fun steamy romance read. I think those familiar with gaming will especially get a level of enjoyment out of it.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 27, 2023You’re Just Not My Type by Aarti Raman is the story of Max and Niva. Niva works at a gaming company. Max was just hired to take over after her boss left…under unusual circumstances. But, he is ruthless…and wants to get her to leave.
This story had a refreshing tongue-in-cheek humor to it that had me chuckling frequently! That’s no easy task for me!! The characters were both coming from similar situations…sort of… and neither cared much for the other. But, slowwwwwwly things started shifting…changing… becoming something different…something new. A deliciously heat-filled read that kept my attention with he great story line and excellent writing!!! Loved it!!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 9, 2023I loved this book! I’m not a gamer but Aarti did an amazing job with the descriptions and I was able to follow along pretty easily. I appreciated the glossary of Indian terms. I went back over them as I read. It truly is a beautiful culture. This is a feel good book with a little spice. I’ll definitely read more from this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars that’s just MY type
Story of Indian American Niva and straight white Max is just my type. It’s fun, it’s deep and it’s emotional. I love the narration and story telling style of Aarti. It navigates thru all ups and downs of the leads and moves at a nice speed as well. Niva and Max’ first meet is as bizarre as it is commonplace! How they find their way to each other is amazing and I couldn’t put down my kindle until I was done reading!

5.0 out of 5 stars A very modern story
What a well written glimpse into the desi and gamer lifestyle, which are completely different from me. The comedy is hilarious, the spicy plot is entertaining, and food sounds utterly delicious. This isn't just another romcom - these pages are meaningful, with depth in the characters.

4.0 out of 5 stars He is seriously not her type 🙅🏻🙅🏻🙅🏻
I found this book quite new and different from her usual writing style. It was fun, it has gaming, it has an emotional quotient, it has drama and it has Niva with a badass attitude and Max with a gentlemanly presence.
For me, it was Max, a man of word, gentle at heart, a dream partner, a king of the game zone, and a kid at heart. You will have every reason to love him and appreciate and at the same time, you have many reasons to grind your teeth at Niva's actions.
A fantabulous story with a desi touch that you will enjoy to the fullest. In a typical arranged marriage setup, two unknown people face each other for the first time where one is obedient, and the other giant mischievous. When the opposite attracts the sparks are expected. The one meeting where Niva tried her best to bully the prospective groom who later became her boss. Wow, what a coincidence and what a faith 😅😅😅.
Guys pick this up because this is a read you all need to laugh out loud and if you are a game nerd then you have all more reason to have this in your hands.
