Yuletide Bride on the Frontier (Mail Order Brides of Texas) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 164 ratings

Maggie Whitaker has spent most of her life in a Boston orphanage, serving as a surrogate mother to countless children. Now, at twenty-two and too old to stay, she faces an uncertain future. Determined to find a family of her own, she answers a matrimonial advert that leads her to Clearwater, Texas.

Upon arrival, Maggie is devastated to learn her intended groom has married someone else. Stranded in a strange town, she’s taken in by kind widow Harriet Barnett. Just as Maggie begins to settle into her new life, Harriet’s health declines, and her brooding grandson Sam arrives for the holidays. Maggie and Sam clash, their differences stark, but when a harsh winter storm strikes, they must rely on each other for survival.

As they navigate unexpected challenges, their animosity slowly gives way to friendship—and perhaps something deeper. Does Clearwater, Texas, hold the home and love Maggie has been searching for all along?

A lovely story about Maggie who left the orphanage to become a mail order bride, but finds he has already married another woman.
Will she find a new home in Clearwater? Will she ever find love and get married?

I enjoyed reading your very good book. I hope there is a sequel coming to see how many children there had and how long grandma lived. Keep writing good clean Christian books.

Primarily, I enjoyed the moral of the book, the tenaciousness of the characters and the pace of the book. Main character was steadfast in making her way and willing to wok hard.

Sam and Maggie have both been disappointed in their first individual attempt at love and marriage . However they find each other in the most unexpected way although their first encounter is filled with misunderstanding, love blossoms between them. Lovely story with great characters, especially the children and Harriet's friends. Have four stars as I wish it was longer.😊
