127 Reasons Why You Are An Idiot: And How To Be Less...Idiotic Kindle Edition
DO YOU THINK THE WORLD IS GOING TO SHIT?
You are not alone.
127 Reasons Why You Are An Idiot is chock full of 127 hilarious, sweary, sarcastic, hard-hitting rants about everyday things that everyday idiots do, with tongue-in-cheek exercises to help idiots be less idiotic.
Why?
Because we're all collectively treating each other worse than ever before. We talk to each other like dickheads. We drive like pricks. We leave piss on the toilet seat. We shake hands as if they’ve turned into floppy fish. We treat money as the be-all and end-all.
Yann thinks this is down to us slowly losing touch with our own humanity. In other words, we care more about ourselves than the person next to us.
Sure, capitalism and technology are partly to blame.
But at the end of the day, if we don’t start treating each other a little better, we’re all truly fucked. There’s no way in hell we’ll be able to work together long enough to resolve the catastrophic problems coming our way.
Rants include:
- Queue cutting
- Cancel culture
- Buying rounds
- Splitting the bill
- Holding the door open
- Ignoring reserved seating
- Treating pets as humans
- Tailgating
- Reclining plane seats
- Taking the mick
- Conspiracy theorists
& many more!
No one is innocent of being an idiot, including you. It is impossible to read this book and not realise at least one or two ways you’ve started to not give a shit about your fellow human.
Yann hopes that, instead of being a little bitch about it, you’ll use all the reality checks you’ll receive to become a better person who is more aware of how their actions affect others.

About the author

“Hey fellow idiot, I am Yann Somou. If you haven’t worked it out already, my name is an anagram of the word “anonymous”. Mind blown eh… I’d like it to stay that way though.
Why?
Well, I feel that the daily interactions we have with people show that manners are on their way out the door - nice people seem to be more of a rarity. And I want to call it out - tell idiots that they’re idiots. I’m doing it tongue in cheek, but I do mean it.
And unfortunately, when idiots are provoked, they frequently prefer to hit out at whoever provoked them instead of considering the merit of what has just been said to them.
So, I’ve gone anonymous for the time being to take the author out of the equation. I want people to read my words and have no other option than to consider them for their merit, without the distraction of a real living person having actually said them. I hope that makes sense to you all.”
– Yann

- Reviewed in the United States on June 27, 2023A quick read when bored and angry at the world's stupidity.
I read it cover to cover in one sitting just laughing my butt off left and right.
This definitely has re-reading potential when you are scratching your head at humanity and you need a quick, "I'm not alone" reminder.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 17, 2023"Don't Be Stupid, Idiot - Helping Idiots Be Less Idiotic: Over 120 Hilarious Rants About Everyday Things That Everyday Idiots Do" by Yann Somou is a provocative, humorous take on modern society's descent into discourtesy and lack of consideration. The author laments the state of the world, noting that common manners seem to be disappearing, while arrogance and selfishness appear to be on the rise.
The book is filled with over 120 amusing, sharp-witted, and piercing rants on everyday blunders, from queue cutting to buying rounds. Each tirade is coupled with a semi-serious, tongue-in-cheek exercise intended to guide individuals towards better behavior. The addition of QR codes or links to share with friends is a clever, interactive feature.
Yann posits that the increasing disconnect with our own humanity is causing this downward spiral, with capitalism and technology playing supporting roles. However, the focus is not on casting blame but encouraging individual change. The author emphatically states that unless we start treating each other with kindness and respect, our collective problem-solving capability will suffer.
Yann's primary goal is to hold up a mirror to readers' behaviors, inviting self-reflection. It's a clarion call to not just identify the idiocy in others, but recognize and correct it within ourselves. "Don't Be Stupid, Idiot" is an entertaining reality check with a pertinent message about social consciousness.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 11, 2023There's definitely something in here for everyone. We've either all experienced one (or more) of the scenarios portrayed by the author, or are guilty of doing them ourselves. It's kind of refreshing to see things that are so relatable be broken down in black and white from someone else's perspective, with a bit of reality and self-deprecating humor thrown in, and know that you're not the only one who feels the same way. I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.

5.0 out of 5 stars 126 reasons to read this
A funny book which looks at everything that gets under people's skins and irritates so much they write a book about. Funny and thought provoking at times with a bit of self help added.

1.0 out of 5 stars It’s a collection of irritating things people do.
In short, just a rant.
Would I recommend the read, no.
The novelty of the books structure will soon wear off. The swearing added nothing to the book and could have saved 50 pages of print and reading time.
